Tether Phone Concept Shows You What to do With Headphones

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Edward Hale just sent me an original design, that involves the Tether concept phone, that has a unique way of storing its headphones. Edward says that he always sees people on the subway wrapping their earbuds around their phones when not in use. However, the problem is that these earbuds get in the way when you want to use the handset again. The solution is: the Tether Phone.

The idea here is to have an indented area on the smartphone for wrapping the cord above the screen and some custom sockets for the headphones in the lower part of the phone. The earbuds will also act as the speaker/earpiece when integrated in that way. Brilliant? I think so! The headphones pop out of the rubber immediately, so there’s no problem with detaching them. All the parts of the headphone mechanism are replaceable, while the jack is recessed into the body of the phone to be less obtrusive.

This idea is so simple, that I wonder why no one thought about it… Maybe we’ll see one of the major companies taking on this idea. What do you say?

Apple QuickTake Concept Camera Take 32 Megapixel Shots, 1080p Videos

The design here involves glass and recycled aluminum and you must know that the Apple QuickTake has a very long battery life and its GUI looks like the one of the iPad. This design was created by Joseph Dumary, a name you’ve surely heard on our website before.

The Quicktake is considered the first smart digital camera and it comes with a microphone that can record HD sound, while eliminating extra noise. There’s also Voice Control enabled so you can take pictures just by saying things. The camera lens supports 32 megapixel pics, 1080p videos without compression and this is the first rotating camera lens in the world. There’s an Eyefocus+ feature in the vide mode, that can target someone by reproducing the effect of the human eyes and create an incredible focus effect.

This Apple camera’s modes include a slow motion one, 3D panorama mode, HDR, 60 fps burst mode, image stabilization, eye tracking and more. This device uses LED flash units, that operate independently from one another and deliver perfect photos and videos, even in low light. The screen on the camera is a Retina Mini Cinema HD touchscreen with IPS technology,, that’s extra wide and supports 360 degree swiveling. The camera also comes with GPS, WiFi, Airprint, Airplay, Photobooth, Edi models, YouTube upload and Flickr.

Nokia Lumia Coffee Tab Tablet Runs Windows 8

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Designer Tristan came up with a Nokia tablet concept that we’ve seen before, or at least the form factor looks familiar. I’m talking about the Nokia Lumia Coffee Tab, that looks like an enlarged Nokia N9 and runs Windows 8. This model is placed near coffee beans on a table, so instead of having a coffee table advertised we have a coffee tablet.

The Lumia slate comes with a 1.4 GHz CPU, 512 MB of RAM, 16 up to 64 GB of storage, a 9.7 inch AMOLED ClearBlack display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and an 8 megapixel camera. There’s also a 2 megapixel camera upfront as well as WiFi and 3G among the specs, in the connectivity area. The device seems to be bundled with the Nokia Purity headphones and its specs remind me more of a classic Windows Phone handset than a tablet from 2012. Well, this Nokia tablet design isn’t totally impossible and since the Finns already have 3 handsets with the exact same design, why wouldn’t they apply it to tablets, too?

I’m also hoping that the Lumia Windows 8 Tab will not be bulky, as it seems pretty thick here. Expect the real thing to pop up this summer at Nokia Connection 2012, as hinted by some Nokia officials a while ago.

Samsung Galaxy S 3 Polaris Runs TouchWiz 5.0

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Bob Freking is back with yet another Samsung Galaxy S 3 design, this time one that focuses more on the TouchWiz 5.0 interface and some interesting specs. As you may already know, there’s been a leak out there, of a phone that is supposed to be either the Galaxy S II Plus or the Galaxy S 3. Well, that leak involved a handset with capacitive Android 4.0 buttons and what looks like a new TouchWiz.

The designer used the leak as inspiration and created the Galaxy S 3 Polaris, that features a 1.4 GHZ quad core Exynos processor and a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display. There’s also a 12 megapixel camera at the back with LED flash and video capture resolution higher than 1080p. The device measures 7mm in thickness, according to the latest rumors that appeared on the web oday, although Bob Freking sees this as a 7.1mm smartphone, equal in waistline with the Motorola Droid RAZR.

There’s also 2GB of RAM on board and maybe 16/32/64GB of internal memory. To be honest this render looks very much like the one leaked by Eldar Murtazin here… What do you think was changed?

Sony Xperia Eterion is Back With a Flagship Design

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Frank Tobias created the Sony Xperia Eterion concept that you’ve all seen a while ago on our website and now he’s back with the detailed view on the handset. We can finally have a look at its back, profile and a list of imagined specifications. This phone render is associated with a 4.5 inch Full HD Crystal LED touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Xperia Eterion has 4 touch buttons on the lower side and their symbols will appear under them when they’re needed. I guess that this could upset Google, that ordered all makers of Android 4.0 compatible hardware and software to give up the Menu keys and other extra buttons they had, both virtual and physical. Back to this 2012 Xperia concept, it also comes with a 16 megapixel camera with LED flash and a very original design of the cam + flash area, that’s minimalistic and elegant. It’s almost like a little keyhole…

I guess that the three dots above the Sony Ericsson symbol are the speakers here, but I may be mistaking. You must know that the Sony Xperia Eterion runs Android 4.0 and the designer also promised a version with Android 5.0 Jellybean in the future. Other specs include 16GB of internal memory, a quad core 1.4GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. Frank Tobias hopes that this Xperia design is OK… I say it’s more than OK, it’s great!

HTC Orion 4G Render Features 1080p Display, HTC Sense 4.0, Quad Core CPU

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Ryan Sheehan sent me an email showing the HTC Orion 4G concept, a high end smartphone, with an interesting design. As you can see, the phone has Verizon branding, so the designer already has a carrier in mind. We’re dealing here with a quad core phone, that features a 1080p display and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The interface and icons look very playful, to be honest and somehow remind me of webOS, believe it or not. HTC Orion 4G adopts a wrap-around design and uses a 4.5 inch 16:9 screen with the above mentioned resolution. It runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0 on top of a 2 GHz quad core processor. There’s also a 12 megapixel camera on board of this HTC concept, with 1080p video capture, plus a 720p 5MP camera, NFC, 2GB of RAM and a 2000 mAh battery.

The Orion 4G uses a magnetic charging port and it’s available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions. This looks like a solid Samsung Galaxy S III rival, certainly more solid than the HTC Sensation was against the Galaxy S II. The design is kind of simple for HTC, that sometimes likes to complicate things and include a protective shell as a case, one that houses the components, but can be detached, like on the HTC Sensation XE and original Sensation.

Flexible Samsung Galaxy S III Pops Up Again, With Specs

It seems to be back, this time with two more pictures, that actually make me think this quad core Exynos handset is actually doable. I’m sure you know by now that Samsung announced it won’t show the new Galaxy S at MWC 2012, so we’re left to wait a couple more months.

Specs also appeared for the handset you see here and they include a 4.6 inch AMOLED Plus 3D screen with a 720p resolution, a 12 megapixel camera, 2 GB of RAM and a flexible body. We could be dealing with a prototype of the Samsung Galaxy S III, one that was abandoned down the road and that 3D part is not convincing if you ask me. Samsung isn’t the kind of company to include 3D technology on a flagship phone and risk delivering crappy battery life and poor tridimensional experiences.

LG and HTC have failed in the 3D mobile world, so could Samsung succeed? Anyway, we have no idea what CPU this newcomer will get, but rumors keep mentioning the Exynos 5250, Exynos 4212 and the Exynos 4412. You take your pick out of those….

Motorola Play Concept is All Touch, No Buttons (Video)

The Moto Play is basically a full touch rectangle, with two movable parts at the back, that look as if joysticks were set apart from the handset.

These moving parts uncover a camera and other features of the Motorola Play include the ability to charge via wireless, just by placing the phone on a charging base. The device uses a 7 megapixel camera that takes quick snaps and this photo sensor is hidden behind two sliding parts, that can be used as joysticks in the gaming experience and as controls for the camera. The left joystick is used for zooming, while the right one is used for taking pictures (shutter button).

This looks like a very interesting Motorola concept phone, one that would fit youngsters, teens and people with an active lifestyle. I’m not sure if the slider parts make it more fragile or not and if they won’t wear out during a long period of use…

Samsung Galaxy S III Supposed Prototype Looks Hot, Ultraslim

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Now that the entire web has find out that Samsung will NOT the Galaxy S III smartphone to MWC 2012, it’s time to check out other rumors. I’ve seen my share of Samsung Galaxy S III concepts and renders, but the picture you see below is quite new to me, so let’s take it as a fresh leak, if you will. I have no idea what this prototype/mockup is, but it looks like something Samsung would do.

It’s curved a bit, hinting at a flexible AMOLED display maybe, although I’m sure we won’t see that on the Samsung Galaxy S III. Rumors have agreed that we’re waiting for a quad core Exynos CPU smartphone, with a 4.6 inch 720p display, a 12 megapixel camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS. Other extra features that people seem to like are 2 GB of RAM and a 3D display, but I can’t guarantee we’ll see them on the new flagship from Samsung.

In other news, Samsung promised to launch the Galaxy S3 separately from the MWC event, in a conference that will take place sometime in the first half of 2012. Excited?

BlackBerry 10 Phone London Mockup Appears… Officially?

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.The web has been abuzz today with the image below, supposedly showing a mockup of the first BlackBerry 10 phone, the rumored BlackBerry London. I’ve heard about this phone before and it was nowhere nearly as cool as the one on in this picture. We’re dealing with an ultraslim device (somewhere around 8mm I guess), with a front camera and an OS that also provides support for ported Android apps.

The inside source claiming to be in the know about the BlackBerry London says that RIM is thinking about either the TI OMAP5 or the Qualcomm processor in this phone, both in the 1.5GHz flavor. I also expect here an 8 megapixel camera, a 4.3 inch display, business features, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and maybe even LTE. I wonder what’s the deal with the UI shown here, that’s very clean and simplistic, something that let’s face it BlackBerry OS never was.
