confoki will be presented for the first time outside of Europe at the FOSI Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. on December 10th, 2008.

confoki will have its own booth at the exhibition and will also participate at the conference itself.

confoki scores second at the "Vienna Future Award" (Wiener Zukunftspreis) in its category "newcomer & Start-Ups"

Already for the third time the City of Vienna issued together with the magazine "NEWS" a prize for the most innovative projects of Austria's capital.

The high-class jury - which this year constisted, among others, of biochemist Renée Schröder and mathematician Rudolf Taschner - were convinced of confoki's innovative approach.

We are happy about this award, which was handed out by Vice-Mayor Renate Brauner.Bereits zum dritten Mal zeichnete die Stadt Wien gemeinsam mit NEWS die innovativsten Forschungsprojekte der Bundeshauptstadt aus.

confoki is a brand new project. It was presented to industry professionals at the Safer Internet Forum in Luxemburg for the first time on 26 September. The official launch is to take place on October 2 at the Internet Summit Austria in Vienna.

The launch is little more than the latest staging post on a long journey. Since the initial idea behind confoki came to light around a year ago, we have released the first public beta versions of our browser extension and search engine. We don’t claim to be perfect – while working flat out on the browser extension for Microsoft Internet Explorer we have been constantly integrating new presets supplied by Austrian and international parent and family associations. We are currently still fine-tuning the search engine and putting the finishing touches to the user interface.

This means that we want your feedback! Please e-mail us your comments, bug reports, questions, and suggestions for improvements.

Last of all, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone that has helped us to get the project off the ground. We would like to thank the team at the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) and employees and management at the Internet Service Providers Austria (ISPA) for their dedication and input, the City of Vienna’s Center for Innovation and Technology (ZIT) for their generous financial support, the confoki team for their enthusiasm and professional implementation of the project and Saferinternet.at and the members of the saferinternet.at advisory committee for their support and valuable suggestions!
