Step 1: Login to Business central environment

Step 2: In the top left corner, click Admin centre àEnvironments

Create New Sandbox Environment

Step 3: Click “New” button to create the new environment

Step 4: Enter Sandbox name, Type, Region, and enable “create a database for this environment” flag

You will need to wait for some time until this is processed.

Step 5: Once sandbox is created, a message appears as shown below on the environment section of the Admin centre. Follow the steps below for creating a new sandbox environment:

1. Select production environment and click Copy from the top action ribbon



2. Once you click on Copy, you will be asked about the target environment. Choose your created sandbox.



3. Provide the environment details and click Copy



4. Upon confirmation, the copying process will start.



5. Once the database is copied, “The Environment was successfully created” notification will appear.

To start, begin with creating an export format of the bank file that notifies the bank to implement a direct debit. Next, create customer’s payment method. Finally, set-up the direct-debit mandate which indicates the agreement with customer to process payments in a certain agreement period.

In order to request the bank to process payment amount from customer’s account to company’s account, create a direct-debit collection entry which contains details of bank accounts, the affected sales invoices and the direct-debit mandate. For processing the mandate, export an XML file based on the collection entry and send it to the bank. The bank communicates if a payment cannot be processed following which the direct debit-collection entries in question can be rejected manually.

The steps below show the implementation of direct-debit collection in Dynamics 365 Business Central.

STEP 1: Search for “bank account” in D365 Business central. In the general tab, fill in the following fields under “SEPA Direct Debit Exp. Format” & “Direct Debit Msg. Nos.” columns

STEP 2: Search & Create a payment method and enable “direct debit”. Provide the payment term code under “direct debit pmt. Terms code” column

STEP 3: Search for “customers” in Dynamics 365 Business central. Select any one of the customers from the list. Enter information under the following fields “partner type, payment terms code and payment method code”

STEP 4: In the customer card, choose “navigate” option in the top ribbon & select “bank accounts”

STEP 5: Add the “customer bank account” with all necessary details

STEP 6: In the customer card, choose “navigate” from top ribbon and select “direct debit mandates” action

STEP 7: Add the following details,

ID – Provide ID for transaction

Customer bank account – Add the respective bank account of customer

Valid from & valid to – Enter start and end date until which the transaction is valid

STEP 8: Create “standard sales line” for customer with the currency code as “euro”. Search for “create recurring sales invoices” in Dynamics 365 Business Central. Add “order and posting date” for the invoice and click “ok”

STEP 9: Search for “direct debit collection” in Dynamics 365 Business central and select “new” to create direct debit collection

STEP 10: Provide “valid from and to date” for retrieving the payment. Additionally, provide “bank account no” for which payment should be transferred

STEP 11: The collection entry will be passed with status as open. Select “process” from top ribbon and opt for “export direct debit file”

STEP 12: On creation of XML file, the status of the entry will be depicted as “file created”. The XML file will be generated. The generated file can be submitted to the bank for payment. The bank verifies the transaction details and makes payment

STEP 13: Once the bank issues the payment, click the “post payment receipt” from top ribbon. In the pop, enter the journal details where the payment is to be passed

STEP 14: On posting, the status of entry will be as “posted”

STEP 15: If the payment cannot be processed by the bank, the user can select “reject entry” to discard the entry.

The following procedure helps to integrate SharePoint and Dynamics 365 Business Central using AppSource.

STEP 1: Login to the Azure active directory using Dynamics 365 Business central credentials. From the left side pane, choose app registration and click new registration

STEP 2: Provide the connection name and select the application access as “accounts in the organization directory only”

STEP 3: Choose the redirect URI as web and provide the url as “https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/Production?page=70319501”

Note: If the sandbox environment need to be connected to the SharePoint provide “https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/Production?page=70319501”

STEP 4: Now choose API permissions to grant access to the application. On redirecting to the page choose add a permission

STEP 5: Now, choose SharePoint tile to grant permission. Select the delegate and application permission to provide read/write/manage permissions. Click on add permission to save

Note: Provide the delegate and application permissions for Dynamics 365 Business central

STEP 6: On adding permission, select “grant admin consent”

STEP 7: Now, add client secret for the application. Choose certificate and secrets tab and click new client secret

STEP 8: Add client secret name and choose the expiry date for the code. Click add

STEP 9: Copy the value of the secret code. Also copy client id of the application

Note: The value of the secret code should be copied within a minute on creating.

STEP 10: Login to the Dynamics 365 Business central environment and search for SharePoint setup

STEP 11: Provide the following details,

Base URL: Provide the SharePoint URL for connection

Client id: Provide the client id of the application

Client secret: Provide the secret code of the application

Callback URI: Provide the redirect URI provided in application

STEP 12: On providing the details, click on connect. On clicking, the authentication pop window is redirected. Now SharePoint is connected to Dynamics 365 Business central

STEP 13: The folder and integration can be changed if required

STEP 14: Click on table mapping in the setup and opt the table that is to be connected with the SharePoint

STEP 15: Look for the table that is mapped with SharePoint. Open the record to view the SharePoint connection in the factbox area of the table. On uploading the attachment in Business central, the document or attachments can be viewed in the SharePoint

STEP 1:

Login to the existing Dynamics 365 Business central cloud environment.

Click on the settings (gear symbol) on the right end of the screen and select the admin center

STEP 2:

In Dynamics 365 Business central admin center, select environments from the left side menu and click new to create an environment

STEP 3:

By clicking new, the create environment page pops up.

In the page, enter the following details

Environment name – Provide the name for the environment

Type – Select the environment type. It can be either production or sandbox

Country – Select the country/region code for the environment. Based on the country/region code localization will be applied

Version of environment – Specify the current version for the environment

On providing the above details, click on create for a new environment

STEP 4:

On creation of an environment, the details of the environment can be viewed by selecting the environment

STEP 5:

Now, login to the business central production environment and choose environment and click ok

STEP 6:

Based on the environment opted, the business central environment is viewed

Below are the steps illustrated to read and process an invoice document using AI Builder.

STEP 1: Login to Microsoft platform and select Power Apps. In the left pane, select Build under AI Builder

STEP 2: Select Form Processing to build the form process model. Provide a name for this AI model and then click Create. This will create a shell where you can upload and tag document

STEP 3: Create tables and fields to extract data from the documents, click add from the top action

STEP 3.1: Select Field and Click Next to add fields like Invoice number, Date of Invoice, Invoice total, Vendor, Vendor ID from the Invoice Document

STEP 4: We can also retrieve table information from a document.Click Add and Select Single page table. Provide a Name for the table and Select “+” icon to add columns. Click Done after adding required columns to the table

STEP 5: After creating required fields and tables, click Next

STEP 6: To add a collection of invoice documents of a company, Click on New Collection à “+” à Upload from the local storage to add the documents.

Note: Collection needs to be specified based on our individual layout and we need to upload minimum 5 documents for each collection

STEP 7: Once the documents are uploaded, click Analyze

STEP 8: To extract data we need to tag the respective fields and tables with the documents uploaded. To tag use right pane, select the document and tag the respective fields and tables in the document against the created fields and table. After tagging a document, if you navigate, same tag will be created for all the remaining documents.

STEP 9: After tagging all the documents. Click Next

STEP 10: Click Train to train the model

STEP 11: Once the model is trained, click Publish

STEP 12: To use this model, click Use model àNew app in Power Apps

STEP 13: After creating the app, add form processing as a component. In the right pane, provide a name to the Form Processor

STEP 14: Click Label from the top action to add label in the Application

STEP 15: Label is inserted to capture invoice number. Use the formula below to capture the invoice number.

Formula: Form processor Name. Results. Field Name. Value

STEP 16: For the table information, select Data table from the top action ribbon.

STEP 17: After providing table information to the Data table, click Edit fields from the Fields action which is placed on the right pane to rearrange and select the necessary columns that needs to be displayed in the data table

STEP 18: Select the column and then edit the formula of the column to solve the error

Note: Add value in the formula to capture the data in the table.

STEP 19: Click Run

STEP 20: Click on Analyze to upload the document. Once the document is uploaded, it will provide the table information.

Step 1: Open PowerShell in administrator mode and import the NAV admin tool to enable NAV commands in PowerShell

Step 2: Import the module by using the command below in Power Shell

Import-Module ‘E:\Dynamics.365.BC.23795.US.DVD\WindowsPowerShellScripts\Multitenancy’ -Verbose

Step 3: Click the show command window and select the command How to move company to tenant

Specify the required fields and run the command

Company Name: Company that you want to move,

Database Name: Specify the Business database,

New Tenant Name: Specify the New tenant name,

Old Tenant Name: Specify the Old tenant name,

Server Instance Name,

Database Server

Note: When we execute the above command, a tenant will be assigned for the mentioned company i.e. the company will be moved to a separate business database and that business database will be allocated to the tenant.

Step 4: Check the SQL server. The new database ‘Cronus’ has been created. And you can see the tenant in Business central Administration tool

 STEP 1: Log into the Microsoft platform and select Power apps. To create a portal, generate a table in power apps. Select the data action from the left pane of the window. Now, click on the tables, to create a schema for the portal

STEP 2: Click new tables from the top action ribbon. Enter table details such as table name and primary column and click Create

STEP 3: Once the table is created, the columns (fields) are added to the table. Click on add column from the top action ribbon. Provide field details like field name, data type and optional details and click done

STEP 4: Now, login into the Business central environment and search for web service. Click new to create a web service for the new table in portal. We can also make use of existing web services. Once web service is created, copy the Data link of the page, user name and web access key

STEP 5: Again, switch to the table in power apps. Select data from the action ribbon and click on get data

STEP 6: Select OData tile from the get data action

STEP 7: Copy OData URL of the web service and select create a new connection and sign in to provide Business central access details. Select the authentication kind as an organizational account. On successful login into the connection settings, click on next

STEP 8: Based on the web service URL the table structure and details in Business central will be visible

STEP 9: Since the table is already created in power apps, select load to the existing table from the load settings and select the destination table as the already created table in power apps

STEP 10: Based on the destination table, the columns that are added to the table can be viewed. Now, map the column in the table with columns in the Business central. On mapping all the columns click on next

STEP 11: Select refresh option and click create

STEP 12: Now move to the home screen of power apps and click on create to develop a portal. From the portal creation option, select the blank portal creation. Provide the name and address for the portal. Click create to develop a portal

STEP 13: Click on the new page and choose a blank page to create a portal. Also, the existing templates can be selected for creating the portal

STEP 14: Provide name, partial URL for the portal. To add the components for portal, click ‘+’ on the action bar. Choose create new to add details of the component

STEP 15: Provide component name and select the table that is already created. Select views for the portal

STEP 16: To create new record from the portal, provide the target type. The record access customization can also be managed.

STEP 17: To view and access the record in table from the portal, table permissions should be enabled. Click on manage permission and provide read, write, append etc., permission for the portal and click save

STEP 18: Once all the settings are selected, the fields in the table will be displayed as below

STEP 19: To enter the employee records in the portal, a subform has to be created. Click on + to create a new page and select form as the component

STEP 20: Click create new to develop a form for the portal. Provide the name and table details. In the form layout, choose information and click on the edit form. In the form settings, opt for the form field from the action ribbon

STEP 21: From the list of table fields, drag and drop the fields into the preview area. After choosing the required fields, click save and publish

STEP 22: Check the form name (display name) provided in the form settings and target type in the portal page are the same

STEP 23: On successful creation of the subform, select pages and navigation in the left pane. Right click on subform and select make a subpage

STEP 24: On creating the portal pages, select sync configuration and click browse website

STEP 25: The portal can be viewed from a browser

STEP 26: To automate the process from portal to Business central. Choose power automate. Click on connections from the action pane and search for Microsoft dataverse as the connector for portal

STEP 27: Create a flow to automate the process between the portal and Business central

STEP 28: The screenshot below shows the list of employees that are created from the portal

Step 1: Install the Power BI desktop in your system

Step 2: In Power BI desktop, select More from the action ribbon and click on get data.

Step 3: Select the Online Service and Click the Dynamics 365 Business central connector from the get data action.

Step 4: Select sign in to connect your Business Central account and click Connect

Step 5: Once it is connected, choose the environment of Business central that you can access

Step 6: Choose the Company Name and the webservice list in the company will be shown.

Step 7: Choose the Webservice that you want to access and Click Load

Note: It will load the data from Business central to Power BI

Step 8: Once it is loaded, all the fields will be shown in field pane

• The Visualizationspane, where you can add, change, or customize visualizations, and apply drill through
• The Fieldspane, which shows the available fields in your queries. You can drag these fields onto the canvas, the Filters pane, or the Visualizations pane to create or modify visualizations
• The Filterspane, where you can filter data visualizations

Step 9: Create the Power BI report and Save it

Step 10: Publish the Power BI report

Step 11: Choose a workspace and Click Select

Step 12: Once the report is published, a message will be displayed as shown below

Step 13: Go to the Role centre of Business central

Step 14: Choose Select report to view the report

Step 15: Select the report that you have published in Power BI and Click OK

7. AL Formatter- Formatting AL code, fixes indenting, casing and variable sorting
8. AL variable helper- Intellisense to assign correct variable names in AL
9. AL Studio-Visual editor/navigation tools for AL development

Step 2: Use shortcut key CTRL + SHIFT + P to open the command pallet. Search for the command AL: Go to open a new project

Step 3: Assign a name to your project. Each project will have app.json created which contains the version and page id of the project

Step 4: Select server as Your own server. This will create launch.json which has the server details

Step 5: Mention the server, server instance and port number of your server in launch.json

Note: The server, server instance and development port number of the server can be viewed in the business central administration tool.

Step 6: Enable the developer service endpoint in the administration tool

Step 7: After enabling the developer service endpoint restart your service

Step 8: After making the above changes, open the previously created project in VS code. The error will be viewed in the sample helloworld program. Use shortcut key CTRL + SHIFT + P to open the command pallet and search for the command AL: Download symbols

Step 9: On running the above command, the objects and extensions of Dynamics 365 Business central will downloaded

Step 10: Open Dynamics Business central administration and select your server instance (Ex: BC170_PROD) and click edit

Step 11: Set your Web Client Base URL (Ex: http://localhost:8080/BC170_PROD/) in client service

Step 12: To publish the project, use shortcut key F5 in VS code. Once published, the following output will be viewed in Business central

STEP 3: For consolidating the balances from the subsidiary companies, toggle to the consolidation company

STEP 4: In the consolidation company, search for the business unit by clicking on Alt+Q. Click new to enter the subsidiary company details. In the card, enter the currency code of the subsidiary company

Note: Make sure that the currency of the subsidiary companies is provided on the currency page of the consolidation company.

STEP 5: To specify or change the exchange rate of the subsidiary company opt for the exchange rate in the action ribbon

STEP 6: On verifying the exchange rate, search for a consolidated trial balance report to view the consolidated report of all business units. The consolidated report shows the balances based on the currency of consolidation company
