We of course know that ConnectBusiness is not the only web based or iPad POS app on the market. If you take a couple of seconds to search for a few POS related keywords on your favorite search engine, you'll see that competition abounds in our specific area of expertise. So, you might start asking yourself, "What makes ConnectBusiness different from all of these other apps?" Well, it actually took us a long time to figure out a definitive answer to that question, but we think we've finally solved it.

Now, throwing words like "real" and "true" around can often come back to haunt a business or organization, but we feel confident in labeling ourselves as such. iPad POS App Beta

So, it's been awhile since we updated the blog, mostly because we've been so busy working on getting the ConnectBusiness iPad POS app finished and ready for testing. In fact, we're excited to announce that we published our own beta version of the iPad app late last week, and we made it available to our current users. If you are a current user and did not receive the email, or if you would like to sign up for ConnectBusiness and use the beta iPad app, please let us know by sending us an email or filling out our contact form on this site.

Here are just a few tips for using the iPad app once you have downloaded it:

Use the sync button on on the lower right hand side of the home screen periodically to sync data to the cloud. This is important if you wish to switch between the iPad app and the web app, as you will not see the same data on both until you have synced.
Make sure you are using iOS 5 or above on your iPad. If you are not sure of your iOS version, go to settings, tap "General", tap "About", and scroll down to "Version". If your version is less than 5.0, you will need to plug your iPad into your computer that uses iTunes to update your version of iOS.
Please note that Booking has not yet been integrated with the iPad app. This feature will be added within the next month, so please remain patient with us.

So far, we've had a lot of success with the iPad POS app, which is entirely integrated with the web app version of ConnectBusiness. This makes our app the first POS software that is truly cloud based and cross platform. This means that no matter which device you choose to use, you will have access to all of the same features, functions, and data.

Now that we've made it over the obstacle of completing the first verison of the iPad app, we should be posting more on our progress, so definitely check back here soon!

Major Update: ver. 2.0

It seems as though it was only yesterday that we were launching the first version of ConnectBusiness and soon following that release with our first major update, ver. 1.3. I guess time flies when you're working hard on developing and selling one of the most user-friendly and beautifully designed point of sale systems on the market.

Today, we're excited to announce that we will be launching ver. 2.0 of the ConnectBusiness web POS app. This update features a slew of changes that will make using ConnectBusiness more enjoyable than ever. Here is a short list of some of the more noticeable changes:

Redesigned register screen with a "quick checkout" feature
Booking feature added to allow for scheduling appointments with customers
Loyalty Program allows businesses to award customers with points per dollar that can redeemed to purchase products and services
Various design touch ups here and there

The booking feature in particular is a huge addition to the ConnectBusiness suite. This feature alone provides users with a number of sub-features, including the ability to assign employees to a group or department, assign certain services to employees, and create a waitlist for customers who would like to schedule an appointment with an employee whose schedule is currently full.

We're hoping to have this update implemented by the end of today, so if you experience any downtime with your system, we apologize. If we encounter any major issues we will definitely keep our users informed of the update's progress.

Homepage Redesign & Other Notes

So, if you're a regular visitor to the site, you may have noticed a few changes in the past week or two. We apologize if you landed here while the site was under construction, but rest assured that we have completed the homepage redesign and are really quite proud of it.

As we near the completion of the ConnectBusiness iPad POS app, we may be adding and subtracting content all over the site, primarily in an effort to keep everything as current and relevant as possible. We're in the more fast-paced and chaotic early days of development on both web and iPad versions of the app, which sometimes causes the website content to lag behind.

If you're ever confused about anything or have any questions about ConnectBusiness pop into your head, don't hesitate to contact us directly via email or phone. As the iPad POS system development team here at the ConnectBusiness headquarters nears the completion of our iPad app, we are looking for partners who want to be part of ConnectBusiness more than ever. We are especially interested in anyone who has connections or relationships with merchant processors, as we would like to be able to integrate more merchant services accounts into ConnectBusiness, giving business owners more freedom and choices concerning how their credit card payments will be processed.

The model we have developed for resellers involves a few different customer paths, all of which benefit both parties involved.

Customers arrive at our website (yep, the one you're at right now) and decide to sign up for ConnectBusiness. If your merchant services are integrated with our web POS application, users will be able to choose your services from a list of merchant account providers, giving you exposure to thousands of new customers a year with very little effort on your part.
You direct customers to our website through various channels, including agent networks (if you have any), and we provide the POS application as well as any technical support, if necessary. iPad POS Screenshot Preview

Today, we're excited to share with you all the very first look at the ConnectBusiness iPad POS app, which is scheduled for release later this month. Our developers have been hard at work on finalizing the app's design and functionality, and we finally have some screenshots to show for it. We'll be uploading the screen shots to a new page we've created here at connectbizapp.com that is specifically dedicated to the iPad version of ConnectBusiness.

To give you a better idea of what advantages the iPad app will provide over the web app, here's just a short summary list:

A beautiful design that is integrated with Apple's iOS interface
Development on a native platform provides quicker response and almost no load times
Offline mode allows you to work without an Internet connection and sync all data to the cloud once you regain connectivity

These are just a few of the iPad POS features that will make using ConnectBusiness even more enjoyable than it already is. Major Update on the Way

ConnectBusiness is nearing 200 registered users, and with that comes a major update. We're hoping to implement this update sometime next week, and here are some of the features you can look forward to seeing:

Web & iPad POS Hardware

We've been receiving a lot of inquiries about what sort of hardware works with the web & iPad POS ConnectBusiness. Most business owners want to know what kind of barcode scanners, credit card swipers, receipt printers, etc. they can use with our app. Well, you're all in luck.

We designed and built ConnectBusiness knowing that business owners need certain types of hardware to be compatible with their POS system in order to run their business smoothly. This is why we have included compatibilty with many types of hardware in the ConnectBusiness app, including the following:

Support for several different types of receipt printers, and nearly any wireless printer
Integration with the iDynamo iPad and computer credit card scanner
Integration with the Scanfob bluetooth barcode scanner
Support for almost any USB enabled device (eg. printers, scanners, swipers, etc.)

If you hadn't noticed, we're currently working on a supported hardware page that will provide pictures and descriptions of the various hardware that is compatible with ConnectBusiness. More Cloud / iPad POS Reseller Info

We've had a really good response to our iPad POS reseller options, mostly from people who want to know more. So, we thought it might be helpful to write up a quick blog post explaining our reseller program more in depth.

As a reseller, the most important part of ConnectBusiness would be knowing how we have set up pricing. Currently, we are offering users of ConnectBusiness three packages:

Basic: 1-5 users, free of charge
Silver: 5-10 users, $50 per month, per location
Gold: 11+ users, $65 per month, per location

We are offering the basic free of charge for a limited time only, during which time we hope to establish a decent user base. After this limited period, we will continue to offer the basic option for a single user, and ask that a business with 2-10 users pay $50 per month, per location to use the app.

Our plan for resale is to pay our resellers 20% of all monthly fees they accrue from the subscribers they sell to. We have a reseller panel set up in the app, which allows you to login and create special codes that serve two purposes: 1) to mark any customer that uses that code as your sale, and 2) to offer your customers a discounted rate for a certain amount of time.

If you’re interested in checking out our reseller panel, we will first need you to sign up with ConnectBusiness. Please visit www.connectbiz.me and sign up by submitting the necessary information. Once you have done so, you can check out the app for yourself, so you’ll have a better idea of what it is we are selling (and hopefully you will soon be selling as well). We will then move you into our resellers, and your login will default to the reseller panel, rather than the user dashboard.

One of our main goals with ConnectBusiness is to reach as many people as possible with our simple, user-friendly web POS app. Although making the switch from a traditional POS system to a web based, cloud solution is a no brainer, we first need to get the word out that there is such a solution and it only takes a few minutes to sign up. This is one of the main reasons that we have built ConnectBusiness with the goal of not only getting as many business owners as possible to use our app, but also recruiting talented, ambitious individuals who would like to partner with us as resellers.

Just one quick note: the promo codes serve a dual purpose. First, they allow you, in a sense, to tag your customers. When you give a customer a promo code and he or she signs up using that code, he or she will show up as a customer on your reseller panel with that specific promo code next to his or her name. Thus, you could create different promo codes for different marketing campaigns or customer bases. Second, the promo codes act as a discount code, allowing you to offer a discounted monthly fee to your customers for a limited time.

ConnectBusiness Uses Mercury Pay for Credit Card Processing

If you've already signed up for ConnectBusiness, you know that one of the greatest things about our web POS system is the amount of freedom it provides for users. Aside from allowing users to access their data from anywhere, at anytime, ConnectBusiness gives users options when it comes to vital aspects of their businesses.

One of the most vital of these aspects is the need to receive payments—after all, without payment, a sale really isn't a sale. In today's world, most business transactions are done through credit or debit card, which requires businesses to provide customers with a way to make purchases using this method of payment. New Feature: Rewards/Loyalty Program

One of the next features we plan to implement with ConnectBusinss is what we call a rewards or loyalty program. This feature will allow business owners to reward loyal customers with discounts, free products and services, or special offers. We feel that this feature is a key component of a successful business because growing a business is not just about gaining new customers but also about maintaining current customers and incentivizing them to do business with you more often.

Here's how the feature will work:

The ConnectBusiness user will set up his or her rewards/loyalty program by choosing a number of points to be given for every dollar a customer spends.
The ConnectBusiness user will choose a number of points at which a customer will receive a reward, and he or she will also choose what that reward is (in a dollar amount).
The ConnectBusiness user can set an initial amount of points to be given at the time the customer agrees to sign up for the rewards/loyalty program by giving their name, email, and phone number.
When a sale is made, if the customer entered is in the ConnectBusiness user's Customer list, that customer will receive points accordingly.

It's just that simple. Set a few options, make sales, and reward your customers to keep them coming back. Two Weeks Running Strong: ConnectBusiness Success & Updates

Today marks the two week anniversary of the release of ConnectBusiness, the simple, Apple-inspired online POS system developed by InspireSmart in Denver, CO. Already, we've had dozens of sign ups and a featured article in the Small Business Bonfire Blog. Things are looking up, but we're definitely not any less busy with new, upcoming features in development, as well as a native iPad POS application underway.

With the initial release, ConnectBusiness introduced an entirely new online POS system to business owners who know just how frustrating traditional POS platforms can be. With ConnectBusiness, business owners can easily make sales, manage customer information, manage employee schedules and hours, track inventory, and generate reports all in one place. On top of this, because ConnectBusiness is 100% cloud based, all of these features are available anytime, anywhere.

As of our first major update, we have added some traditional POS features that business owners might find lacking with such a progressive, revolutionary POS system. One of the main features we have decided to add is the ability for managers and employees to open and close the register. If a business owner enables the open/close cash register feature, the drawer will need to be populated with a certain amount in the morning, which will then be accounted for at the end of the night. ConnectBusiness will inform the user if there are any discrepancies in the drawer amount by displaying an over or under amount upon closing.

Although this feature might be helpful for some business owners who are used to open and close register functions, it is not on by default. Many users will find it easier to account for the drawer using other methods or will decide to just keep a running drawer, making cash drops here or there when the drawer is over a certain amount.

Whatever the case, ConnectBusiness is already proving to be a helpful system for businesses of all kinds, ranging from retail, to beauty and salon, to food service, and even to IT and computer repair. First off, we're really excited to have this site finally launched. It's been awhile since we've had a chance to give everyone an update on the latest progress with the ConnectBusiness web POS, but we assure you we've been hard at work (for the most part...). Today, we set up a crude landing page for the ConnectBusiness web and iPad POS at connectbizapp.com. You can go check it out, but don't expect too much yet. We're hoping to get some really good information up there within a week, along with some super awesome screen shots. Of course, a slick design will accompany these things, so your eyes will no longer be assaulted with my pathetic web design skills.

We hope that any of you who are reading our sporadic posts actually are getting excited for this revolution in POS technology. More and more businesses are moving over to cloud based, mobile POS solutions, which is why we're building something that will be a leading product in the web & iPad POS field. As we get closer and closer to launching the app, we are honing in on the needs of business owners and making sure that our final product tends to these needs. We want our application to fit your business, rather than making you alter your business in some way to fit with our app.

I know we've said this time and time again, but this is precisely why we have built a hardware independent POS application that stores all your data on our secure cloud servers. That way you don't have to worry about constantly updating your hardware or operating systems to adapt to our POS app. If you have an iPad, that's great: you'll be able to take advantage of our native iPad POS app. If not, there's absolutely no pressure to go out and buy an iPad. Our POS web application will be compatible with all modern browsers, in turn making it compatible with virtually any device.

Development is really heating up here as we near a launch date, so expect more posts in the coming weeks, and thanks for reading.
