Another New Caprica Cast Member

According to Entertainment Weekly’s website, Caprica has yet another new face on the cast. This one belongs to Buffy-alum James Marsters. He’ll be playing ” play a dangerous terrorist leader by the name of Barnabus Greeley in a minimum of three episodes”. For the blurb, go here.

Patton Oswald Joins Caprica Cast

It’s another addition to the cast of Caprica. According to Sci Fi Wire, Patton Oswald (voice of the title character in the movie Ratatouille) will be a “recurring star” on the new show. He will play the host of a talk show on which the Graystones appear. Not really sure how Cylons and comedians mix, but okay.

This may not be as exciting as it may sound.

There’s been rumors flying about the internet for the last couple of days about Bryan Singer (director of X-Men, X2, and Superman Returns) directing a new re-imagining of the 1970s show. This version would not be the same storyline as Edward James Olmos and company just finished up, it would be a completely new spin on the original.

Well tonight we have confirmation from Entertainment Weekly’s website that this is actually going to happen. Singer will team up with the original show’s creator, Glen Larson, to make the movie.

Personally, I hope this idea gets canned somewhere along the way. The tv show–which was popular and critically-acclaimed–hasn’t even been off the air for six months. I know these two wanted to make a movie before the show got rolling, but why would you go up against the show so soon after it’s ended? Especially when it’s a show that’s so frakking awesome as this one?

I have to wonder with Eick, Moore, the cast, and others affiliated with the television show think about this.

As brittersrae said on Twitter tonight: “I think I get why all the old-school BSG fans were so mad. Except that our show was good. So.”

And if they turn Starbuck back into a dude, I might cry. Just a little.

Casting News - Caprica Edition

Even though I still haven’t seen the pilot episode, I am excited about the latest casting news for the show Caprica. First, the addition of Scott Porter. If you watch Friday Night LIghts, then you know him as Jason Street. If you don’t watch that show, fix that immediately. in my mind, FNL is the only drama on tv that can come close to competing with BSG when it comes to characters, story, and heart.

Also appearing in a few episodes is Luciana Carro, best known on BSG as Kat. So far, she’s the only BSG cast member to go on Caprica. Don’t really know how that’s going to play out with whatever her role will be, but it should be interesting.

Casting News - 24 Edition

I talked (I think anyway) earlier about how Katee Sackhoff has joined the cast of 24 for their upcoming season that kicks off this January. Well guess who is joining her? Callum Keith Rennie. That’s right–Leoben. These two will be an opposite sides of the drama with Katee playing an analyst for CTU and Rennie playing a Russian syndicate mobster. For more details go here.

Casting News - Dollhouse Edition

In case you haven’t heard, there are a couple of BSG alums who will guest roles for the beginning of Dollhouse’s second season. The Joss Whedon show already stars Tahmoh Penikett, aka Helo, and now will have Jamie Bamber (Lee Adama) and Michael Hogan (Saul Frakkin’ Tigh) as guest stars.

I’m very excited at this for a couple of reasons. The first, it’s always nice to have the guys be back on the screen, especially together. Second, hopefully it will improve Dollhouse in my eyes. The show is ok so far, but nothing too spectacular, which I find to be a little sad. So hopefully this and finding a way to watch the episode “Epitaph One” will improve my thoughts on the matter.
