The gases comes out of the factories' and houses' chimneys and of the exhaust of the motor vehicles -having increased rapidly after the Industrial Revolution -are causing the climate changes which have never seen before since the Ice Age, which was millions of years ago. The regression of gradually melting glaciers' to the polars and the loss of ice cap, on high mountains, the rise of sea level, the migration of plant & fish species, the decrease in the number of bird species because of the air pollution, the rapid growth of the annual rings in trees are, of course, the indicators of rapidly warming in the earth. However, the meteorologists are talking about the probability of shutdown of the Gulf Stream warm water current, which is transporting the warm sea water from the equator to the western Europe, because of the melting of the North Pole glaciers; and finally, the possibility of a new ice age in Northwest Europe at the end. In other words, the global warming can bring our world to a new ice age at the end. It is uncertain/indefinite whether we're going to burn or freeze as a result of the global climate change. Arranging the second cartoon competition, Corum Journalists' Association aims to reflect the effects of the global climate change on natural world under the title of "Are we going to burn or freeze?" with the universal language of cartoons. I invite all cartoon artists to our competition and wish success to all/them.

The conditions of entry:
1. The competition is open to all-amateur and professional- cartoonists(from all over the world).
2. The technique is free.
7. Deadline for the entries is April 8th 2008. 11.Prizes:First Prize :1000 YTLSecond Prize:800 YTLThird Prize:600 YTLMention:300 YTLMention:300 YTLMention:300 YTLThe special prizes (which will be given)from several foundations and firms will be attached later.
12.The Municipality of Corum will cover the bus travelling and accomodation expenses of the prize winning cartoonists from all cities of Turkey to Corum.(for the award ceremony)
13. The works -sent to the competition- shouldn't hurt any religion, race, sectarian or group (in any way).
14. The results of the competition will be announced by Corum Journalists' Association and Cartoonist Association.

Association's web address: http://www.cgcd.org/
for more .. visit http://www.contest.googlepages.com

Some contests charge entry fee and some do not. A number of contests are open to both US and Canadian citizens. But for the rest of the world does not have that lots of contests available to them. So, in spite of being talented and worthy and deserving, many people around the world just don't get enough opportunities to show off what they are capable of!

I too suffered from this same problem.
My area of interest was essay contests and writing contests worldwide. But while searching for those on net, I discovered with wonder that there is no such site that lists all the global contests. Most sites paid attention mostly to contests that requires entry fees. But I was not willing to pay any entry fee as I am just a beginner and internet is a kingdom of cheats...
However, later I decided to introduce a website of my own targeting to the contest-lovers around the world. Thus http://www.contest.googlepages.com was given birth!

This website lists upcoming contests WORLDWIDE. Listed contests DO NOT charge any entry fee. Photo contests, writing contests, essay contests, idea contests, cartoon contests, art contests, design contests, logo contests and lot more other exciting contests are listed in this site. Features on freelance writing and freelance jobs are also going to be added in more detail soon... I believe I have done a reasonably good job ... Contest-lovers from around the world have no chance to be hopeless now!

To continue, I just need your encouragement and help...
Just visit www.contest.googlepages.com ; see.. how a website can turn your life...

Polar bears are drowning. Glaciers are melting. Forests are being cut down. At the same time, there are good signs: people and businesses are recycling more, and learning how to reduce their carbon footprints. Scientists are researching renewable energy such as wind and solar power, and cities are taking steps to improve air and water quality. Artists are informing and inspiring us about what's at stake if we fail to act. The world needs solutions, and the good news is that everyone can help.
This year, Microsoft is calling on young programmers, artists and technologists around the world to "imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment." We’re challenging students to bring their ideas to life in a multifaceted competition that comprises nine categories, each catering to a different technological or artistic affinity. Students’ work will reflect valuable, real world solutions, while giving them the opportunity to compete for cash prizes. When coupled with the power of technology the potential of young people is unlimited and the ideas they develop for the Imagine Cup could significantly improve the lives of millions of people around the world. In this competition, everyone wins. Each of us has a unique skill to contribute. Together we can make a difference and have fun during the journey. Welcome to Imagine Cup 2008.The 2008 World Finals will be held in Paris France from July 3-8, 2008.

Software Design
In the software design competition, students create real world, dynamic and powerful software solutions using Microsoft tools and technology. This competition is the only one that is run locally, not online. Countries and regions who participate select their own team to advance to the worldwide finals in Paris in July 2008.
Visit the Software Design competition page to learn more.

Embedded Development
Devices are becoming smaller, more portable and are having a greater impact on our everyday lives. Utilizing Microsoft's ground breaking new XNA Game Studio Express, competing students from around the world will have the chance to gain international exposure for their games. Not only will cash prizes be awarded, these winners will then have an opportunity to come to Microsoft and present their entry to the Microsoft games management team for possible inclusion as a download in the popular Xbox LIVE Arcade service or MSN Games Web site.
