Point. Architecture created contrasts in color and sensation which enrich the essential lines and volumes of this hairstylist’s showroom where a single global design project elegantly accompanies the customer both as they wait and are attended to.

Project description:

We were asked to divide the space into two main areas, one for washing operations and the other for hairstyling, so we decided to render them visibly different. Whereas the styling area is a wide, bright and flexible space that meets both the customers’ and stylists’ needs through the use of mobile furniture instead of traditional equipment, the washing and waiting lounge is softer and darker to aid relaxation.

Point. Architecture created the AUDI Terminal as a clear reference to the airport environment, extending the theme of travel to the design concept for its opening.

Project description:

Travelling is one of the fundamental archetypes of the whole human experience. Its appeal is inexorably linked to its capability to transmit cultural and emotional experiences. Seeing as the architectural concept of the AUDI Terminal itself was a clear reference to the airport environment, it was decided to extend the theme of travel to the design concept for its opening.

The visual and sound installation had been conceived to create an “airport” ambiance and to further develop the travel theme inside the building.

UXUS was invited to create a new retail platform for French lingerie brand Princesse Tam Tam. The objective was to design a new shop concept that would elevate the brand’s customer perception and become a platform for a global roll out.

The boutique is inspired by the casual chic of a Paris atelier, where found objects and simple frameworks display personal collections.

UXUS designed a series of instantly recognizable signature store elements. Customized shop fixtures, laser cut felt and bespoke light elements come together to produce an exciting, contemporary chic shopping experience targeting today’s modern lingerie customer.

The first Flagship store is located on Rue de Sèvres in the St. Germain district of Paris.

Whoever visits the store at 1 Prince Street – across from the New Museum, right on the boarder between SoHo and the Lower East Side will be spoilt for choice. Over 1,000 one-of-a-kind bags and accessories await you in the drawers of the award-winning, modular V30 FREITAG SKID shelving system.

FREITAG bags started in 1993 with two brothers, design students in Zurich, deciding to cut up used truck tarpaulins and make messenger bags out of them. The clean design, Swiss durability, and the fact that every bag is unique brought them worldwide success, a place at the MoMA (among many other distinctions), and now a new Flagship Store at Bowery and Prince.

Oglo is a French Architecture and Landscape office who won the 1st price of the 2011 Allariz Garden Festival with La Muñeca.

Project description:

Whatever culture fashion is part of, whatever time and place it refers to, its essence finds its roots in the characteristics of the human body. Only the being’s dimensions and proportions matter. Its peculiarities, its flaws, its disadvantages are sublimed by creation and become the assets, the basis, the nourishing roots of fashion. They structure its path, define its substance, and guide its function. Static and still when unworn, fashion transforms itself; it evolves in space once inhabited. It also shelters life. It takes over, welcomes and protects it. Once wrapped around the being, fashion, lifeless until then, comes alive.

After going across a thin plant screen, we slowly walk down through the flowers and the soil. An internal world is revealed; its soft curves cocoon and guide us. The plants offer as many smells as they do colors. Our senses are excited. We wrap ourselves into space towards the image of our condition, towards the structuring signal. Further below, sheltered from any hazard, we are taken in the center of the symbol and, unscathed, we contemplate.

Wax Revolution, a new epilation chain based in Mexico, hired ROW Studio for the design of their second branch in the upscale neighborhood of Polanco in Mexico City.

Project description:


Located in a semi basement of what used to be part of the parking of a refurbished building from the 50s the site was a narrow, dark, humid and terribly neglected space that was almost completely concealed from the public eye, but given its location in one of the main avenues of the neighborhood it represented a unique opportunity in terms of potential clients.


The first challenge was to give notoriety to an otherwise invisible space, for this we proposed a faceted structure made from a sequence of black steel frames descending from the street to the salon in a similar fashion to a subway entrance thus making the site evident to the enormous traffic of people strolling and driving by. The brand sign is fixed from the uppermost frame with its two lateral faces tilted to a 45° angle to allow maximum visibility of the logo to the passersby.


At the entrance of the site a long and narrow corridor was converted into the reception of the salon. Using the front desk, with its faceted faces that flow from the main door towards the end of the hall, as the main feature element of the room the perspective is elongated and distorted giving it a most needed sense of spatiality. The extremely low height of the ceiling is altered by the use of mirrors and the color black, which makes one lose reference to the actual dimensions of the room.


A series of shelves are used to display the various products sold at Wax Revolution which include brands such as Mallin + Goetz, Baxter of California, Snowberry, Uslu Airlines and Rubis Switzerland which become a visual focus point when waiting for an appointment.


The back wall serves as a chalkboard where the specials and packages are displayed and a sliding door directs the visitor to the corridor that leads to the individual service cabins. Each cabin is assigned and identified by a color which can be located by following the corresponding lines on the epoxy resin floor. The lights are fixed to the wall as a continuous strip with 45° and 90° angles as a way to liberate height from the low ceiling of the space.


A small open blue cabin located at the end of the corridor is used as a brow bar with an adjustable barber’s chair. Located on the opposite side are the client’s restroom and shower with yellow and blue glass tiles along with the staff bathroom.


When turning right following the corridor after the brow bar the three main cabins are revealed for the first time. Formed as faceted volumes that expand the visuals of the corridors they are covered with colored mirrors that multiply the views, colors and lights to infinity in a mesmerizing effect. These mirrors are colored with the same tint used to color spheres, but given the fragility of that tint it is covered with a custom made coating that was researched and developed specifically for this project by Sylpyl Industries giving it the necessary resistance for easy maintenance.


The area of the green and yellow cabins gains noticeable height in comparison to the rest of the site and this sense of height is perceptually continued to the pink cabin, which is located in the lower part, by the continuity of the faceted volumes.


A light bulb in the exterior of each cabin, which is connected to the light in the interior, indicates if they are in use. Inside the cabins all the operational furniture is colored white while the fixed elements are integrated in the same color as the cabins. The floor is covered with natural linoleum to provide the best levels of hygiene and durability.


The colored cabins and their varying geometry guarantee a unique experience for the clientele with each visit to the salon.

+Quespacio designed a model agency with an urban but sophisticated image in the city of Valencia, Spain.

Project description:

When our client contacted us he explained us he wanted to create a new model agency with the name Lexington Avenue Agency in our city, Valencia, with an urban but sophisticated image.

In furniture we choose for renamed brands from Spain, but not habitual to use in our country. We opted for furniture from Uno Design by Javier Mariscal and the ecofriendly Eiffel, a recycled paper stool from the pretty new RS Barcelona. This combined with white office furniture and a white floor to create the urban and sophisticated touch.

[i]da Arquitectos designed this house located in Carcavelos, Portugal, using a central patio to divide the house into two parts and to organize the interior space.

Project description:

A central patio divides the house into two parts and organizes the interior spaces: on the west side, an open horizontal space to the garden receives the dining room and the kitchen; on the east side, a vertical space, located at a lower level in relation to the public route to ensure domestic privacy, receives the living room.

The simplicity of the facades contrasts with the complexity of the different spaces of the house. The white wall surfaces and the gray shades of the floors give a unit character to the entire construction.

Studio Guilherme Torres designed a shoe store located in a commercial gallery in a very busy street in Londrina, Brazil.

Project description:

The Queen Shoes Comfort project aims to cater the female audience looking for comfortable shoes to work or for leisure. The store is located in a commercial gallery in a very busy street in Londrina, Brazil.

The ceiling was covered with polyurethane tensioned screens and the illumination is provided by T5 light bulbs as they offer low-energy consumption and high lighting efficiency and color reproduction. The joinery is actually carpentry, where it was used only demolition pallets, tainted hazel with a mixture of burnt oil reused from industry waste.

Dimitris Economou designed a fresh and cozy restaurant in Vari, Athens.

Project description:

Greek people are really trying hard to overcome difficulties that arise from the economic crisis, keeping their smile and, as much as they can, their cheerful mood. Many habits have changed in the past two years, and one of those is that people have stopped eating in places that offer too expensive and rather than quality food. They prefer to spend their money in places worth it. This was the idea that lead Dimitris Economou to create “gefstikon” restaurant in Vari, Athens.

During summer time all windows open automatically as well as the roof-top in the back of the dining area.
