And those numbers don’t just appear in that corner, they are very touchable, just like Braille. So when I get up in the middle of the night, and want to know what time it is, I don’t have to look at my cellular phone or the bright numbers on a clock radio. All I need to do is feel the sheets for the proper time.

Yes, besides the blind, I don’t really see a good use for this product. I mean, if I am too lazy to open my eyes and check the time, I doubt I’ll want to feel the corner of my bed for the time.

I am willing to bet that this concept will not see the light of day. Not only do we not have the technology to make this work, but I just don’t see it working, period.

Still, you got to admire how the controls are on the side of the mattress. I would imagine that these could easily be hit by those who toss and turn in their sleep.

Not to mention the imprints that would appear on your body when you got up the next day. Reminds me of the joke about the Corduroy pillows. They do make head-lines.

First of all, it has a color screen, something that the Nook can only halfway claim. Qualcomm is playing with mirasol technology for a 5.7 inch display that doesn’t need e-ink, but membranes to create the needed colors.

The mirasol technology uses a lot less power than other readers like the Kindle. In fact, Qualcomm has said that the power that would last a Kindle a day would last the mirasol about a week. Yes, that is quite a claim.

Not only that, Qualcomm is considering putting gaming controls on the thing. This accessory would snap on to the bottom of it, but very little is known about what type of games could be played on this.

However, if you have the ability to do WiFi and 3GS, then you’ve certainly have the option of doing a lot of things. An e-reader like this could really change the market. Not only should the Amazon Kindle people be worried, but Nintendo and Sony should also be cringing as well. Unless the Qualcomm reader does not do as good as it plans. However, the one who perfects color on the reader will probably conquer the reader market, at least.

I was surprised at the control that it had, and even though they wouldn’t let customers play with them, I could buy them if I wanted to. I believe that the booth was overcharging customers for these toys, as I saw this one on the Syma site for fifty dollars less.

The Syma S026 Micro Chinook Cargo Transport 3 Channel Indoor RC RHelicopter is “the world’s smallest and lightest” and it is “designed for indoor flight only”.

The control is so good, that a similar device was used as a prop to play floating fairies in a performance of the classic William Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I’ve included a video of this after the jump if you want to see it for yourself.

Hey, if stagehands can be confident with the hovering controls of a product like this, then I’m actually surprised that we don’t see more toys like this.

I really think Lego needs to get on the indoor flying bandwagon and make something like this. However, if you want something that you don’t have to make out of bricks, then you should be able to head over to the Hobby eStore and lay down about $32.80.

When you’re slightly forgetful by nature or have a family that never listens, you have to find ways to get creative.  Be it an overabundance of well placed notes or buying yourself a gadget to make life a bit easier.  If you’d like to give the gadget route a whirl, this one is definitely creative and still affordable as well.  It’ll leave a reminder straight from your mouth that activates every single time they flip the switch.

The Parrot Digital Messaging Switch Plate might be a little maddening after a while.  Plus, a 20 second long limitation on the message allows for any prankster within your home to record anything they choose.  In order to install it you just find an existing switch plate and install this one with the two screws instead.  It requires 4 AAA batteries to keep powered, which also probably means you’re going to get to unscrew the thing every time the batteries die.  You can purchase the switch plate for $9.99 through Kotula’s.

The Christmas season is coming up and nothing says Merry Christmas like a creepy novelty USB gadget.  If you know someone that’s still a huge fan of Alien, this creepy little guy may be pointless, but at least he’s cool.  He does actually do a few tricks after he’s plugged into your computer, but he doesn’t actually store any of your data.

The miniature alien plugs into your USB port, not to transfer data, but to make it look even more spooky.  As soon as it’s plugged in through the tail, the mouth pops open and spits out the creepy alien tongue.  The mouth also lights up to a nice bright red.  Then after it’s plugged in, it will just at random do the same process all over again.  At the very least it’ll keep you on your toes.  Once it’s released early to mid December it’ll cost you 3,990 JPY or about $44 through Strapya World.

World’s First Bombproof Wallpaper

A partnership between Berry Plastics and the US Army Corp of Engineers has results in the development of the world’s first bombproof wallpaper. Designed out of Kevlar-tye sheets that can be applied to the walls of a room in under an hour, X-Flex is capable of protecting structures from blast damage. X-Flex is being considered for use in military bases, national airports and chemical plants as a method to protect both civilian and military personnel.

The LightSleeper – For a Good, Heavy Sleep

Following her own suffering with insomnia, designer Kate Evans has created what is essentially a mini light projector which beams a soothing light onto your ceiling. The light then makes circles above you, the idea being that as your eyes follow the projection you gradually slip off to sleep. Whereas something like reading would stimulate the mind and thus keep you asleep, the LightSleeper relaxes you almost hypnotically. It takes under a minute to get it working, and it can be turned on with a tap (great if you wake up in the middle of the night with uber brain fuzz) and automatically switches off after half an hour which means its energy efficient too.

Sadly, I do not have anything to say about the i290. Of course, my mother always used to say that “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything”. Well, I’m am going to say anything, because even though the i290 isn’t a good phone, it isn’t a bad one. That would make it…a normal candybar cell phone, which is what it is.

Yes, this is a phone that allows you to call people and make text messages. Yes, there are many other phones like it, and if you can afford one that does this and other things, then yes, you should buy one. As it is, this phone has no camera, very little features, except that of push-to-talk and Java capability.

Of course, it does have a thin and lightweight feature, as do most phones that are under $50. This is about the price of it on Boost Mobile. You can also get it on Sprint if you like. In fact, if you are looking for someone to buy a phone for this holiday season, and this person doesn’t want anything complicated, then you could save a lot of money purchasing them an i290 right here.

The X100e has an 11.6 inch display, and it has an AMD Neo processor as well as wireless connectivity options like WWAN, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth. The whole thing weighs about 3 pounds and includes a webcam and many other lovable pictures. As for the battery life, it’s pretty good at 5.1 hours.

So how much is it? It will be about $500, and available in white, black, and red. I believe that the release date is planned for January.

The X100e is “positioned to be a viable mix of the portability of a netbook with the performance of a laptop, at an affordable price”.

Too bad that they didn’t have the X100E done by Christmas. They probably could have really made a killing for the holiday. Oh well, who am I do critique Lenovo’s selling and marketing strategies?

I suppose that I’ll have to stop by Lenovo’s booth at CES in January and try it out for myself. Until then, I’ll just keep clicking away on my own laptop.

Yes, this is the e-board, an electronic skateboard that can be charged up in three to four hours, and then go about 13.5 miles from there.

Of course, if you are going to make a motorized skateboard, then the skater is going to have to control it somehow. This is why Xero created a controller that resembles slot car racer controls. However, they gave it a disturbing shape…a gun.

Just a friendly bit of advice. If you want to put this skateboard in a carry-on…don’t. Even if the airport is ten miles long, walk to your connecting flight. Do you honestly want someone from airport security to find this? Chances are, they will keep you holed up in a cell until they find the rest of the gun.

Also, I wonder what that ring is on the side? It looks like a pin to a grenade. Geez, the odds of this skateboard being a weapon is just increasing.
