Arden | 46 Weeks

Arden's doing a fancy dance move, she's talented like that ;) She's wearing an adorable top from Tea Collection. Pants from H&M and new little shoes from Pediped.

I'm such a huge fan of Pediped. I have a love affair with baby shoes going on. Seriously, it's a problem. Especially with Baby Blochs...le sigh. The problem? They never freakin' stay on! Either Arden knocks them off when she's crawling, rolling, scooting, cruising around. Or she physically pulls them off. I know you all are familiar with this! She used to wear her lil' Uggs all the time, because I could velcro them tight enough so she couldn't pull them off. Well one day they just stopped staying on. Toast.

Then Pedipeds came into my Arden's life. They're like a little ray of sunshine, I swear it! I'm not trying to be cheesy ;) And you know what? They actually stay on! So that's the #1 reason I love them.

And #2? They are awesome for pre-walkers and walkers alike. Why? Because of their soft yet supportive sole. It's beneficial to have your toddlers in soft soles so they can feel the floor with the soles of their feet and learn to balance correctly.

And last but not least, #3: They are super adorable! We already own a pair of the Henrietta boots, so perfect for keeping those lil' toes toasty. Then Pediped sent us a pair of Giselles with their brand new slip resistant soles to review. I couldn't believe it, but I love these even more now! The previous soles, a soft leather, were super comfy, but a little slippery when Arden would try to walk around. The new slip resistant soles are still soft pliable leather, but they figured out a way to make them less slip prone. There's a new texture to them, that gives them grip, but the leather seems almost like rubber. It's pretty cool. I took a close up shot to compare the two:

The original sole is on the left and the new "grippy" sole on the right. Cool huh? And here's an "official" shot of the new sole. Very dapper looking loafers, huh? See even the boy stuff is adorable!

I think I'm going to have to get a pair of black Naomis (totally remind me of Blochs) and red Isabellas next! SO cute.

Arden's Party | The Venue

Haaaapppy Friday! This was a long week, wasn't it? Ack.

Anyways, I wanted to share with you the place where we are going to have Arden's 1st birthday! I went and visited a few venues, but in the end I decided to go with Seesaw Studio & Cafe in San Francisco. It's a mix of minimalist/Swedish/mod and it's too cute for words. I met with one of the owners, Sabrina, and Regina, the event manager. They were so nice and had so many great ideas. They also have a stylist available for custom-themed parties. A-mazing. Of course, I'll be styling Arden's party ;) But what a great option to have, no?

Here are a couple of pictures of Seesaw and some of the parties they've had!

She's wearing a cute pink pony shirt from Baby Gap that her Godmother gave her. And yes, once again, her ruffle wide-leg pants that I absolutely love! She's also wearing a pair of cashmere socks and a cashmere hat from Portolano Kids, they are so freakishly soft. And her oh-so-comfy silver ballet slippers are from Baby Bloch.

Parenting Props | Feeding Solids

I've decided to start a new series for all of you new parents out there. My Pregnancy Props post was one of my most popular posts, believe it or not. So I figured those of you guys out there that liked that one would appreciate seeing some more of my "favorite" parenting tools of the trade. This week I decided to go with my recommended products for starting your baby on solids. I hope it helps. Enjoy!

Baby-led Weaning

I started feeding Arden food at 5 months. That might seem a little early for some folks, but Arden already had two teeth in and she was VERY interested in (aka reaching for) the food that Mommy & Daddy were eating. We started feeding her using the Baby-led Weaning method. That meant we gave Arden small pieces of food for her to nibble on instead of purees. I can't recommend this method highly enough. Arden LOVES food. She eats absolutely everything I've ever given her. The Baby-lead Weaning method helps your baby appreciate tastes and textures that a typical puree-fed baby doesn't get to enjoy.

Green Sprouts Sippy Cup with handles

This is the only sippy cup that Arden likes to use and CAN use by herself. It's light-weight and the handles are the perfect size for her to grasp. She loves it. I only have one right now so I end up using it at home and packing it in my purse when we leave; Can't leave home with out it ;)

Boon Lawn Drying Rack

This drying rack is super cute and super functional: the best of both worlds! I wish they made this in adult size ;) It's perfect to prop her utensils in as well as air dry those sippy cups!

Bambu Feeding Utensils

These are Arden's (and my) favorite utensils. We have quite a few different sets, but these are the easiest for her to use because of their thick handles. They're also made out of eco-friendly bamboo. And when she chews on them, they almost act like a teether.

Sass Mesh Teethers

These not only come in handy for teething, but they also help younger babies grasp on to the food they're trying to eat. Arden loved eating banana popsicles out of these. Oh and I haven't tried this yet, but I've heard that breast milk frozen in an ice cube tray makes the perfect hot-day cool down in these.

Wean Green Cubes

These adorable little glass cubes are the perfect size for baby snacks. I suppose they'd be perfect for purees as well ;) I love to pack 'em up with food for Arden and then either throw them in my purse or in her lunchbox. They are water-tight and easy to snap & go. For some reason I just prefer glass to stainless steel, especially when it comes to holding something acidic like fruit. I have one set now, but I think I'll need to get another ;)

Skip Hop Zoo Bee Lunchie Insulated Lunch Bag

You might be asking: "Why does a baby need a lunch box?". Well if they're eating solids, they do! This lunch box is insulated it so it keep things nice and cold when you're out and about. Or when Arden spends the day with her nanny (one day a week), I pack this full of goodies for her to eat. And it just makes me smile every time I look at it, because it's just too cute.

Stokke Tripp Trapp in Grey

I love the modern classic look of the Tripp Trapp and the gray color-way just adds an updated touch! I love the fact that we can use this highchair for years to come! And that it isn't plastic is a bonus. The gray color? Goes PERFECTLY with our dining room wall color. Seriously, I couldn't have matched it better if I tried. Oh and Arden likes it too ;)

PlayTray for Stokke Tripp Trapp

The Stokke Tripp Trapp doesn't come with a tray because you are supposed to pull it up to the table. Arden's not quite big enough for that yet, so we got this easy-to-use modern tray. You just slip it on and you're good to go! I love that it doesn't detract from the modern look of the Tripp Trapp.

Baby-to-Toddler Reversible Waterproof Bib from Zoey-Oh! on Etsy

A bib is one of those obvious must-haves that every baby needs. But I think it's better to go with handmade. Not only is the quality superior, but you can get it customized too. This bib from Zoey-Oh! is substantial and I know it will last for years. Yes, the size is adjustable too! It's made from laminated cotton, not plastic or PVC...yay! And the snap-tray is very handy and it's so easy to clean, just a quick wipe down and it's ready to go again.

Highchair Splat Mat from Zoey-Oh! on Etsy

This splat mat is perfect. Seriously. Not only is it adorable (with the matching bib!). It has this great cushy non-slip backing that makes it lay flat and "stick" to the floor; hardwoods & carpet alike. It protects our dining room rug from Arden's errant food and spills. Love it!

Pantone MyColor Paints

Did you guys see the news? Pantone just released a new line of paint! It's called MyColor and it's super affordable at $9.98 in select Lowe's stores or $14.98 online. And another plus? It's ultra-low VOC!

I was thrilled when they offered to send me a can of MyColor in Honeysuckle (2011 color of the year). It was perfect timing because I'm in the midst of planning Arden's 1st birthday and so far the only theme is pink, as in Honeysuckle pink ;)

I saw this picture on Project Nursery and I knew I wanted to do this for Arden's 1st birthday!

I found this vintage wooden highchair while I was still pregnant with Arden and I just never got around to painting it. I think it was just waiting for some Pantone MyColor Honeysuckle...don't you?

I'll show you guys once it's all finished! I'm hoping to paint it in the next couple of weeks.

I am a GIANT!

So I've decided to officially join the party. I've been stalking the rest of the crew for awhile now ;) My found dollhouse needs A LOT of work. I rescued it from slowly rotting away into oblivion. It had been sitting outside for at least 5 years (probably more) and was used as a cat shelter. The people who owned it should be on Animal Hoarders. Seriously. Thankfully the house itself doesn't smell like cat pee...just its environment ;) They originally bought it from an architecture student over at UC Berkeley. Pretty fab, huh?

It's currently receiving a major cleaning and restoration from a professional model builder. Don't worry he's keeping the rustic charm on the outside! He's sanding the floors and sealing the wood floors and getting it all ready for me to do the "fun" stuff.

In the meantime I've purchased a couple of small things, but I'm seriously WAY behind. I'm thinking I might be able to finish one or two rooms before the challenge deadline on Dec. 15th. I'll try my best though!

Notice a lil' theme going on? I'm thinking Ralph Lauren meets Badgley Mischka. I need to work on colors, wall/window treatments and well, pretty much everything. But it's a start! I'm hoping to have it ready for Arden to play with...in a few years.... ;) This kid better like horses. Ha!

Rue Turns (the big) One!

Did you all know that it's been a year since Rue Mag came out with their first issue? They had a kick-ass party last night to celebrate and this girl partied like it was 1999 ;)

It was at H.D. Buttercup and oh my gah, this store is drool-worthy. You guys would love it!

So not only did they have a gorgeous venue, but they had a rockin DJ, multiple bars (those drinks were lethal!), a candy bar, a photobooth, a dude writing poetry and food trucks serving yumminess. Seriously. Oh and did I forget to mention all of the pretty people? The Rue girls most of all! So glad to be part of the celebration!

It's been a whole month since Arden arrived...scary how fast time goes by! I figured I'd humor those of you with babies on the brain. Here is my obligatory "must haves" that I highly recommend for the first month after baby arrives.

Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Spray - 4 oz.

Okay this spray is a godsend after giving birth the last thing you want to do is touch anything down there. A spritz of this and you'll feel sweet relief, this is GOOD stuff I promise!

Nature Babycare Eco Toilet Wipes

These are perfect for those sore bums after you get home. Self explanatory ;)

Dria Cover in Oslo

OK, I have to fess up on this one. I'd seen these awesome covers before and I contacted them begging for a cover to review on the blog. They generously obliged me (Thanks Dria!). I received the Oslo cover (grey striped). First of all, it's sooo soft and the fabric can be jammed into your diaper bag and it miraculously stays wrinkle-free. LOVE that! It's also the only nursing cover that doesn't look like one; it looks like a stylin' top instead. I've used it as a nursing cover out in public as well as draped it over the carseat AND the Mamaroo. It's so comfy and easy to drape over yourself in a pinch. I just recently used it at a BBQ we went to. It kept the sun out of Arden's eyes and it kept the wind from hitting her when I had her in my sling. And surprisingly, even though it's pretty lightweight, it kept me nice and warm. It was the perfect accessory :)
