I have listed some corgi ACEOs on Ebay!
They are original small paintings..not prints! They are 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches - the size of a trading card. I have taken a few of my favorite paintings (and some new ideas)and painted them as small miniatures!

These cards are handpainted originals! Art for your pocket! You can trade them with other corgi lovers, frame them, or put them in an album, or someones christmas stocking! The sky's the limit when it comes to small format art!

They are painted on heavy watercolor paper, sealed and signed. I then slide the finished piece in a heavy plastic toploader (the baseball card type) for total protection. They can be easily removed by you if you so desire.

I finished this diptych~two 8"X10" canvases meant to be hung together to make one unique piece. It is inspired by Kliban, and his black and white tabby cats with their red shoes. I fondly remember them when I was young. They were on everything..towels, bedding, shirts. I always thought they were so cute!
I decided to paint a tri corgi with some red sneakers as a tribute to Kliban. Maybe I'll paint some more inspired by him. : )

It feels good to be back to placing paint to canvas! I was watching (and got hooked on) The Tudors on Showtime. I love the costuming and locales and I was inspired to paint this corgi portrait.
Anne was Queen of England from 1533 to 1536 as the second wife of Henry VIII of England and 1st Marquess of Pembroke in her own right.
This is my "corgi version" of Anne Boleyn right down to her famous gold and pearl necklace..except of course It's a C for corgi!
It was quite fun and I am now offering it on Ebay: "Anne Corleyn Queen of England"

NEW DESIGNS!! Woo Hoo!
I created these with my wacom tablet and photoshop elements.
I received my photoshop elements for dummies book, but quickly realized that I have learned more from just fiddling with the program. So I have uploaded new designs to both my Cafepress stores. I wanted to create some new corgi text designs.

I am having fun playing around with my wacom tablet and photoshop elements. I find it pretty complicated, so I can imagine that photoshop is tough. I bought "photoshop Elements for Dummies" today, so maybe I can figure out some cool stuff. I hope to make some new designs with text for my corgi store.

Oh oh...Don't upset Barney

Yesterday Barney, President Bush's scottish terrier, bit a reporter at the white house. Jon Decker, a political reporter for Reuters, had just finished a live shot for MSNBC at 10:35 a.m. when he spotted Barney and his handler on a walk. He bent down to pet him. Barney bit him on the finger.

Barney seemed to be in a bad mood for some reason. Maybe he took the news that he will have to leave the white house soon badly? Barney and his friend, Miss Beazley, have a popular webcam at the white house.

The reporter was fine as we was bandaged up by the white house doctor and given some antibiotics. There is speculation today that the new first dog may be a cockapoo. Maybe thats what set barney off. I wouldn't want to leave either. Private chefs, beautiful gigantic house, and that huge lawn!

President-elect Obama promised his two little girls that they could get a dog when they move into the White House.

There is spectulation that they will pick a rescue dog or shelter dog.
Malia, his older daughter (10 years old) has allergies, so they need to keep that in mind.

Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden, is also getting in on the act. He told reporters traveling with him earlier that his wife had promised him a “big dog” if he got elected.

Jill Biden had taped pictures of different dogs on the back of the seat in front of him on his campaign plane to inspire the candidate as he criss-crossed the country in the final sprint to election day.

I have heard they are going to wait until spring for their new addition after the transition.

One dog out there is going to be very lucky with a new address...1600 Pennsylvania Avenue! I wonder what breed it is going to be?

Look at that lawn..lots of room to run!!

Last christmas, my husband bought me a Walcom bamboo Fun drawing tablet. I really haven't had a lot of time to fool around and figure it out. It comes with Adobe photoshop elements and Corel painter essentials.

Its fun to play with photos and change colors. I would love to learn how to "paint" a corgi from scratch and have it actually look decent. I will just keep playing around to try to get the hang of it.

I think it is a wonderful tool to change colors in existing photos, designs or artwork. I think I may try to change some background colors on some of my corgi designs. That would be useful.

The corgi photo above was one I took at a local dog show. In photoshop I erased the background and put a colored one in. I learned how to do transparent backgrounds also. Just doing that was exciting!

I tried to fool around with Corel painter. It looks like a cool program, but man, they get technical, and I get lost. I guess the more I play the more I will learn.

Digital art is whole other world. It has no limits. It's fun and I wish to learn how to create awesome work, especially to put in my CafePress stores. I guess practice makes perfect...I have a whole lot of practicing to do.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love It!
I love fall. I live in the Mojave desert in California, so any cool weather (not too cold) is more than welcome!
I love to dress up in costume too. It's fun to be someone else for one night.
Last year I was snow white. My husband was grumpy. LOL!
We didn't have ANY trick O' treaters last year. I miss that. I used to decorate my house when we lived in a more "city" area. My street is kind of rural (no street lights and the houses are sort of far apart) but a few blocks up they get a lot of kiddies. So I always buy candy we like so we can eat the leftovers. BOO!
Be careful and have fun!

Ode To The Waffle

Every christmas my sister and I exchange holidays. One year I have Christmas, and she has Thanksgiving and we trade off each year. We always have a christmas breakfast, which is the usual, eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits. This year It's my turn hosting the christmas breakfast.
I am entertaining the thought of "the waffle bar."

I am envisioning warm, freshly pressed waffles with a variety of toppings available..strawberries, blueberries, walnuts, bananas, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, real maple syrup. Sounds different and YUMMY.

While browsing the internet, researching the beloved waffle, I came across some interesting history behind the crisp goodness.

The waffle has a long history behind it:

The ancient Greeks used to cook very flat cakes, which they called obleios, between two hot metal plates.
In the 13th century the oublie became the waffle. A plate was forged to create them.
Waffel is from the Dutch wafel.
Thomas Jefferson returned from France with a waffle iron.
In 1953, Frank Dorsa introduced frozen waffles into supermarkets, calling them Eggo Waffles.
National Waffle Day is August 24th, the anniversary of the first U.S. patent for a waffle iron. Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York received his patent for a "device to bake waffles" in 1869.
International Waffel Day is March 25th.

I didn't know there are so many kinds of waffles, belgian waffles, american waffles, potato waffles, Hong Kong style, chicken and waffles, even tuna and waffles.. and the list goes on..
I don't care for the Belgian waffle, too much powdered sugar.
I'll have my waffles with just butter and syrup please.

I have added these new pieces to my website. One is a handsculpted, handpainted, polymer clay corgi sculpture,"Corgi with Heart." It is approx 4 inches tall by one and a half inches wide. Gloss shine.

The other is a corgi puppy welcome sign, handpainted on pine. It is sealed and hanger attached on the back. It is painted a dark english navy with gold trim.
It is fun to mix it up a bit. I mean I like to paint and dabble in other mediums. I love to paint, whether it be clay, collage, canvas, paper, you name it.

Clay is fun!
Sculpty clay is a cool medium. It's easy to work with and its oven bake.
Don't get me wrong, it takes time to get something that looks right or to add detail. Well, it takes me a long time anyways. It's rewarding though. Just don't overcook, or your sculpture will get a bit brown.You can paint a clay piece after baking with any craft acrylic paint. They have sculpty glaze that is brushed on in matte or shiney glaze.

Wood is great!
I like painting on pine. I like the hardness and smoothness of the wood. I get wooden blanks from my local Michael's craft store and sand them well. Sometimes there are dings, dents, and rough spots in the blank. Look over any blanks well before you buy. You can primer the wood if you would like, but sand between coats.
Then I draw on a rough draft of my design and paint with acrylic paints. You can always use stencils for lettering, if you would like. After drying, spray with an acrylic sealer. I don't recommend the signs I paint to be exposed outdoors in the elements but I do have one on my front door (sheltered) year around and It is holding up great.
