Cormack Packaging recently celebrated the graduation of seven production employees who were successful in obtaining their TAFE recognised Certificate IV in Competitive Manufacturing. Cormack now has 60% of the total operations workforce- with a minimum of Certificate III and a further 20% of operation staff with a Certificate IV in Lean manufacturing. Cormack Packaging are proud to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of Jenny Young, who began her working career at the organisation in 1959 as a 16 year old office junior. This amazing achievement was covered recently by our local newspaper the Canterbury Bankstown Torch.

The Dangers of Baby Oil � A Call for Child Resistant Closures

On September 23, 2008 Today Tonight featured a story on the potentially serious dangers for children, of common household oils including Baby oil, massage, hair and bath oils and essential oils.
In Australia at least 3,000 reported ingestion accidents to young children occur every year. In the US, it is reported that 20 children die a year from ingesting small quantities of household oils, 5 deaths from baby oil.

Plastic Prices Soar!

Plastic Resin prices are not directly linked to either oil barrel or petrol pricing, but in broad terms they tend to be closely aligned.
We have seen two years of steadily increasing resin costs with little likelihood of prices easing.
Oil barrel pricing was predicted to never pass through the $100 per barrel mark, but it is now at $142.99 and increasing. There are so many drivers to the pricing unrelated to the actual source price of oil.

Sarah Stevens our 2007 Cormack Innovation Awards Winner started her internship with us this week, learning about our company, injection moulding and the Solidworks 3D mechanical design software. Sarah has benefited from working with Tim Bird and Frag Woodall who have been helping her realize her award winning design which Cormack hope to commercialise soon.

Calmar opens biggest trigger sprayer plant in China

With the opening of the MeadWest Vaco Calmar's plant in Wuxi China, Calmar has now the largest plant now in China for manufacturing trigger sprayers and lotion pumps. This purpose built facility has been built to service the growing Chinese domestic market as well as supply product through out Asia, Australia and the Pacific.

Sarah Stevens, a 2nd year design student from Monash University has won the 6th Annual Cormack Innovation Award presented in Sydney this week. Sarah is a 2nd year Industrial Design student at Monash University's Caulfield campus.
