New Jumbo Seafood with HBS Buddies ;)

Looking at these pics actually almost make me miss Boston and our two years there...*almost* haha

Mostly, we just miss the times shared with our good friends from HBS and all our yummy food outings...including multiple repeat visits to New Jumbo Seafood in Chinatown.

Assorted Cold Cuts and Jellyfish Appetizer Platter--I'm always a fan of these Chinese appetizer platters, love the assortment and nice fatty slices of pork and beef and chicken feet!! heehee

New Jumbo's Signature Coconut Crispy Chicken--basically like Chinese Crispy Fried Chicken, deliciously crisped skin with a tender and moist chunk of meat under ;)

Pepper Steak--I loved it despite there being bell peppers!

Honey Walnut Shrimp--all I will say is that I've hardly ever met a "honey walnut shrimp" dish I have NOT liked...

New Jumbo Seafood Soup--a bit red with some vinegar...yum!

Peter has always loved candied apples, so I decided to surprise him with some Mrs. Prindables!!

If you haven't checked them out (and happen to love "candied apples" too) definitely go visit their site and drool over the delicious goodies!

They even come in a nicely wrapped box!!! I guess they should for $22.95 USD per apple, even at it's JUMBO size, that's a pretty "jumbo price tag!" heehee

Peter loved it, but we both thought it was a big too "ginormous" and I'm not a super sweet tooth person, so I found there to be way too much caramel!!

It's definitely an apple to share with 4 other friends!!! :)

HBS AABA Chinese New Year Dinner @ Hei La Moon

How better to celebrate Chinese New Year than with chomping down delicious Chinese cuisine with friends in a warm and toasty place :)

Here are pictures below from the HBS AABA Chinese New Year Dinner at Hei La Moon from January 2012...

Assorted Chinese Cold Cut Meat and Jelly Fish Appetizer--I LOVE Jelly Fish and all those fatty cuts and slices of pork and beef! A MUST HAVE at every Chinese Banquet Style occasion!!

"Birds Nest Seafood"--this dish always confuses me since it's not actual "Bird's Nest" as many restaurants name it, so I'm always sad when I think of how delicious (and rare/hard to find it is in the U.S.!!) real Bird's Nest is!!!

I never love the crunchy fried noodle part either, it somehow always ends up tasting too oily or old and not so crunchy/tasty...

Honey Walnut Shrimp--with pineapple chunks, you can hardly ever go wrong with this dish, everyone loves it!!! YUM YUM :)

Steamed Cantonese Style Lobster with Ginger and Green Onion--always a classic banquet dish, I like lobster but not love, it's also really messy and kind of hard to get at LOL

Chinese Fried Chicken--with the chips! I remember as a kid I always tried to sneak in as many chips as possible and once, my family looked over and I had basically collected all the different colored chips on my plate, empty soup bowl, and I just looked up at them innocently like "hallo?! is this okay?!"

Fried Whole Fish--I *think* this looks like a Flounder but it's usually either Rock Cod, Red Snapper or Flounder (and sometimes Tilapia or Cat Fish but usually those taste more fishy :(

Baby Bok Choy with Chinese Black Mushrooms--I LOVE Bok Choy and Petah LOVES MUSHROOMS, so this was a very heart warming, yummy complement to all the meaty dishes we'd had right before...

Chinese Fried Rice--I sadly cannot ever comment much on this as I'm usually stuffed and curled up in a ball by the time fried rice or noodles (usually the last savory Chinese dishes to come at the end of a banquet style dinner) from having eaten too much haha

Chinese Stir Fried Noodles--noodles, symbolic for good luck and long life :)

Bow Wow having his own lil' celebration of sorts, going at it on the Bully Sticks (yes, erm, they are cow thingies...) but he LOVES them and they're supposed to be a really healthy and long lasting treat for doggies!!!

We LOVE this baby face...awww Bow Wow, this is why you get away with so much naughtiness!!! (Just like Petah! LOL jkkk, maybe...not)

A yummy visit to Pho 2000 in Dorchester, MA with Petah, Yosuke and Monica :)

Vietnamese Grilled Pork Combination over Broken Rice--who knew "broken rice bits" could be so yummy :)

Sweet & Sour Chili Vietnamese Whole Fish--nom nom nom

And no visit to Pho 2000 is complete without their classic Combination Pho (with brisket, tendon, rare and well-done beef), the broth is just delicious and heart warming too!!!

East by Northeast 8 Course Tasting Menu

We had heard about East by Northeast in Cambridge, MA from some friends and finally had the chance to check them out!

We decided to go with the 8 Course Tasting Menu, which showcases the best of local ingredients...

Sadly, it has been awhile since we dined here back in January this year, so I couldn't really recall most of the dishes, but at least you can check out and enjoy (hopefully not drool too much) over all the food piccies!!!

This was our Lime Rickey/Virgin Mojito--pretty tasty, love it when restaurants have a nice selection of mocktails for us non-alkie drinkers!!

Strega Waterfront with Petah on a blustery day...

On a blustery and super cold day in Boston, Petah and I ventured out to Strega Waterfront.

We had some gift cards to use up there, that we got from ordering gift cards to oya Boston from Boston gift cards...pretty good deal, buy gift cards to a super yummy place like oya Boston and get extra free gift cards to Strega Waterfront :)

**Plus, if you book oya Boston via Opentable, you not only get dining points (which go towards a dining certificate to use at any Opentable restaurant, so the more reservations you make and eat at, the more points and more dining bucks) but also 10% off your total check!!

We had no idea about this until our first meal at oya Boston and got the check and saw the 10% discount and was told this was because we booked via Opentable :)

Strega Waterfront is your typical Italian touristy type place with great views of the Waterfront...on this particular day though, we were just hoping to get inside from our car without having a trash can blow over and knock us upside the head =X!!!

Mozzarella with Prosciutto--pretty good, nothing amazing on either items but edible :)

Basket of Assorted Bread

Lobster Ravioli--quite a creamy yummy sauce!!

Tortellini Alfredo with Squid--not overly creamy and heavy and I LOVE squid with pasta!!

Me--still defrosting LOL

Primp Pink Bunny Thermal long sleeve top (I LOVE LOVE these original Primp thermals, can't get enough of them, especially the bunny motif ones!!)

Caramel Flan--Petah's favorite :)

Pretty okay meal, mostly because we had the free gift cards to use towards lunch haha, but if you're nearby Strega and in need of a quick meal, it will do :)

Happy Sunday!!! Our fantasy football team is hanging in there so far *whew*

And there's a happy Cory after a USC win over Arizona State last night!!

Let's hope our defense and offense all show up to WIN BIG next Saturday at the Rose Bowl!!!

Heehee, some random shots we took of Bow Wow with his new "duckie hat" after a trip to Toronto, found the cutest doggy clothing at this one boutique in Pacific Mall!!

Love love Pacific Mall, Petah and I can always wander around there for hours!!!

I would totally consider moving to Toronto, if it was a bit more South and had weather comparable to L.A. heehee
