The town of Chapel Hill Welcomes McAlister’s Deli’s Tea Town USA, We Need Your Vote

Chapel Hill is in the race to win $5,000 to help improve our parks and recreation department.  On top of that we expect to receive the title of Tea Town USA. We only have until August 1st, 2010, at 11:59 p.m. that’s this coming Sunday.  You can visit Tea Town USA on Facebook to vote.

Cosgrove Hill Apartments: Salt Movie Review

Salt

Angelina Jolie could be a great super hero with all of the super-duper stunts that she pulled of in this movie.  But that’s not to take anything away from great role as Evelyn Salt in this movie.  This past weekend, after the Pool Party, I saw the movie Salt and really enjoyed myself.

Without delay, this film was very good. Angelina is really becoming quite the stunt woman, she could have almost been Salt the Super Spy. This movie had many twists an turns that seem to mis-lead you as the plot thickens but that was apart of the plot itself.  You won’t get to lost in this film but if you do happen to loose track of what’s going on the action won’t let your eyes leave the screen.

As I watch the Salt Trailer I can see more of how each scene connected to another. I can’t go into detail without revealing the movie and ruining the whole Salt experience for you, but I’ll say this, American intelligence and Russian espionage practically become characters all throughout this film.

What’s good about  the trailer is that it gives you just enough to peek your curiosity without giving away the secret of the plot.  What’s even better is that when you see Salt in the theater you will still go Oooh! because there are so much action to keep you excited.

We love it when you save money (and for all the right reasons).  We would like to share these 5 tips with you that will save you loot.

Save The Loot

1. This is something that I have to do on purpose:  Avoid the vending machine at all cost.  Most of these items are marked up and are hardly ever healthy.
2. Drive your car longer.  (As long as it’s safe)  Don’t get caught up in the glimmer of a new shinney car.  If you can get from point A to point F, then you’re good. Durham NC Toyota usually has some great deals ‘For All The Right Reasons.’
3. Say goodbye to the soda.  Soda-pop is a huge waste of money even if it’s on sale.
4. Eat at home more often.  The fast food is convenient but unnecessary.
5. Get rid of some of your cable service.  Are 700 channels really needed?

Cut costs wherever you can and look for new ways to bring in money.
Some of your old CD’s or books can be given away or sold on ebay.com.
Even the clothes you no longer where can be sold at Plato’s Closet Cary.

Chapel Hill Is Ranked #40 Best Places to Live in America

Cosgrove Hill we’ve got great news!  We made the A-list for Beat Places To Live in America.  CNNMoney Magazine has ranked us at number 40.  That’s right, Chapel Hill is number 40 in America’s best small cities to live in.  It’s about time that we’ve got our recognition.  I mean hey, number 40 is a better ranking that 60 other small cities in the U.S.

That’s  with good reason, we are a very educated city having the University of North Carolina right in the center of our town it’s very easy to find a significant conversation with some one who has smarts.  Practically every one around our community has a graduates degree or at a solid education.  It’s like that for all over Chapel Hill.

From the beautiful landscaping and good transportation to the sweet smell of honey dew, this is a good place to live.  And if you ever get up early enough in the morning to see the sunrise it is so amazing the air is so fresh you can practically taste it. It’s easy to forget that we live in an urban area with so much nature around us but I can always find a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of business and running around.

I didn’t expect to go so deep with Chapel Hill but what can I say… I Love This Place.

The Geek and His Lovely USB-Drive Wedding Ring

I’m kind of like a computer geek myself so I really think that this is one of the coolest ways to show your appreciation to your husband or wife where marriage jewelry is concerned.  The fiancé of a geeky video game developer who works for Microsoft reached into her heart and gave her husband-to-be a custom made USB wedding ring.

If my fiance did something like this for me I know that I would fall in love with her all over again.  There are a lot of residents at Cosgrove Hill that may be still dating or looking for a mate, just remember that in everything you do come from the heart.

It said in a Mashable report that the groom is a Microsoft Game Studios Software Development Engineer; how much geekier can you get then that?  The ring isn’t actually a functional USB connector it’s just modeled after one.  This is what really touched me.

The USB ring that wifey-to-be gave to her hubby-to-be was engraved with these words:
“For a lifetime of memories”

This really symbolizes what the wedding ring means in a marriage and the capabilities of a USB drive.  Aww,that is so special!

If there has ever been a day to indulge in this sugar snacks and cookies, then this is that day.

Yummy Sugar Cookies

Satisfy your sweet tooth and eat as much as you can morally stand.  If you’ve been talking about going on a diet or fasting the prepare your mind.

Eat all the cookies that you want to today and tell yourself, I mean really make a decision to change your eating habits.  Here is a tip.  If you really need help in adjusting the way you eat then try this.  Here is a great sugar cookie recipe.  You can use it to make all the cookies that you want.  Go ahead and bake a whole bunch of them.  When they are finished leave just a few of the sugar cookies on the cake pan and eat the majority of them.  I’m willing to bet that you sick and tired and won’t want to eat any more sugar for quite sometime.

If you’ve been keeping up with this blog series then you know that Les Brown and Zig Ziglar were the first two motivational speakers of these three.  Now, last but not least: Earl Nightingale

Earl is the trail blazer of the personal development industry.  He was the first one to take reading books to audio books.   In the1950’s he was the voice in the hero of radio series Sky King and a radio host for WGN Radio.  Earl partnered with Loyd Conant to create the personal development one stop shop Nightingale-Conant in 1960 and went on to establish countless books and outstanding success.

I remember Earl Nightingale for a powerful message that he delivered in 1957 called The Strangest Secret.  Earl is one of those motivational speakers that has done great things but get’s a short introduction because you want to hurry up and hear what he has to say.  So I won’t hold you long.  I suggest that you listen to The Strangest Secret.

Personal development is intended to effect your mind in a way that will cause you to want to do something different, see something different or at least perform differently not because you feel like it, but because you know that different action will land you in a different location.

Chapel Hill we are all in store for a great Fourth of July weekend.

You can wake up to some free grilled food. At 8:00 am tomorrow morning, Saturday, July 3 at the Thrill of the Grill also at the Eno River Farmers’ Market.

In the evening you can join the Nic Brown a local author as he debuts his new book Doubles at Crunkleton. This event will have great drink specials all night it’s sponsored by ROOT liquor.

Then on July the Fourth enjoy your day at the Carrboro July Fourth Celebration.

Whatever you decide to do have fun, stay safe and just love on everybody around you.

My second favorite public speaker is Zig Ziglar. If you remember in the first part of this Personal Development series I was asked the question who my favorite three speakers were in the industry of motivation. The first post was about Les Brown.
