width="80" />
  NSA Takes Over
Mitsubishi Consumer Warranty

To some attending NESDA's NPSC trade show this year, it was deja vu all
over again.

A few years ago NSA blew-up the convention in Nashville with their plans to "save" the independent
service industry. Few trusted them then. Apparently, that attitude hasn't changed.
It appears that, for reasons that don't appear to stand up well to scrutiny, Mitsubishi has decided to use their services.
Reportedly the NSA/Mitsubishi contracts are worse than the NESDA reviled OnForce contracts.

The Head Grump has five NESDA members who have already offered to do a future Grump Report on this subject. One is a past NESDA board member. This WILL get interesting.

Can't wait to see how the NESDA board handles this one.

width="80" />It's official and confirmed. Jay Reynolds is gone from Samsung.

Service providers wonder how long his ghost will persist, with all the cronies he hired and protected there.
How far will the "invitations to leave" go?

From what has been leaked, he got a concrete parachute. Concensus of all who
knew him - Waaa. Some are contemplating putting up a table and farewell banner
in Ridgefield Park and toasting him with Maker's Mark and giving him a Brooklyn salute on the way out.

Mitsubishi Drops Consumer LCD -
Keeps DLP

width="80" />By dropping out of the LCD flat panel category in Home Theater, as Fujitsu and Pioneer, they
apparently decided that they didn't want to compete on price against the West Asia manufacturers
who want to move boxes instead of quality.

Some competitors apparently were stating that Mitsubishi was getting out of the consumer electronics space entirely.
Mitsubishi will continue to manufacture consumer DLP TV's as well as have flat screen products for the commercial markets. Their front-projectors
and MegaView line are not affected at all.

By Matthew Lasar | arstechnica.com

Behind the scenes at the Federal Communications Commission, a quiet war is being waged over
the future of television.

It isn't getting as many headlines as net
neutrality or the Comcast/NBCU merger, but the debate is nearly as important.
It's about how far Google, Sony, and their allies can take their Google TV system...
