Interview With Sharif Khan

What is your definition of heroism?

It stems from the original word ‘hero’ which comes from the Greek roots servos and heros, which means to serve and protect. So self-sacrifice for the higher good and betterment of humanity is at the heart of being a hero. And what that implies is that the seeds of greatness lie within us all because we all have that innate capacity to serve. Martin Luther King said it best: “Everyone can be great, because anyone can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t even have to make your subject and verb agree to serve…You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

Did you ever create a secret hero in your mind that helped you deal with life’s difficulties?

Very interesting question. I have a Council of Light or imaginary team of heroes if you will. I got the concept from Napoleon Hill’s book, Think and Grow Rich, where he talks about creating a team of heroes in your mind, where you go deep within your mind and choose your greatest heroes to sit on your round table and council you. I actually go to a secret place in my mind in meditation where I have a council of these people.

Some include greats like Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Sinatra, Jodie foster, Oprah, Einstein, and an eclectic mix that changes from time to time. I actually talk to them in my dreams and imagination and they give me answers encouragement and advice. It may sound strange, but that’s how I’ve developed my own ‘wisdom council’ if you will.

What were or are the qualities and attributes of your secret heroes?

They had a dream, they were determined, and knew exactly what they wanted and they had a larger than life vision. They went out there with courage and did what they wanted to do and didn’t take “no” from anybody and were able to accomplish their dreams; and so I look up to these role models knowing if they can do it, I can do it.

What principles are you willing to sacrifice your life for?

FREEDOM! Freedom is worth sacrificing my life for. Freedom to live our dreams, freedom to imagine, to hope and prosper from doing what we love doing, that is worth giving up our lives for. In North America, we do have economic freedom and political freedom, but that is not normal. We are blessed and privileged because more than half the world does not have the same opportunities.

Do you have a dream or vision that sets the course of your life?

Absolutely. My vision is to inspire the world and make a positive difference in peoples’ lives. To help create a global culture of heroes and responsible citizens dedicated to promoting peace and prosperity in the world. That is a vision that’s larger than life. It gets me going and energizes me whether I’m having a good day or bad day; it gets me up every morning and allows me to stretch and grow.

Do you take a positive view of setbacks, misfortunes and mistakes?

Absolutely! I think it was Mr. Thomas Watson Sr., founder of IBM, who said, “If you want to increase your success rate, double your failure rate.” So failures and setbacks and mistakes are stepping stones towards greater and greater success. We need to ask ourselves: “What can we learn from this experience? How can we grow from this experience?” Because nothing really is a failure; everything is a learning experience.

Were you willing to experience discomfort in the pursuit of your dream?

Yes. That is something that is necessary because it takes a lot of hard work and effort. Nothing really comes easy. Anything worthy of great achievement requires hard work, effort, persistence, and perseverance.

How important is it to believe that your dreams will eventually become reality?

It is very important! I believe you have to taste and feel and smell your dream as if it is a reality right now. I’m a big believer in seeing the reality and the vision and dream right up front, right now, the way it is. If you can’t visualize and feel the tears of triumph running down your face when you win that award or get that promotion, nothing will happen.

It doesn’t matter how many goals you set, or how many affirmations you say till you’re blue in the face, if you don’t have that feeling or that knowing that this is going to be a reality, then nothing is going to happen.

Do you experience service to others as a source of joy?

Yes I do. I sincerely believe the hero’s journey is about following one’s bliss and doing what one loves doing in service to others. That is what really brings the most joy, and that is what really brings the most success as well, because the only way to get what we want is by helping enough people get what they want first.

I’m a big believer in serving. If you want to increase your wealth and influence by ten times, just ask yourself the question, “How can I help ten times as many people as I am helping right now?”

Who are the HEROES in your life?

My father was a hero. Jim Ross, who I dedicated my book, The Hero Soul, has been a hero to me because he was a teacher and a mentor, a messenger, a carrier of truth. I think the people out there making a difference in peoples’ lives, teachers, coaches, entrepreneurs; I think all those people who are serving people or helping solve problems and showing people how to overcome their own problems are the real heroes; and it’s unfortunate that the media doesn’t pay enough attention, which is why I really like your “In Search of Heroes Program” because it’s really unique.

Why are HEROES so important in the lives of young people?

Heroes are so important in the lives of young people because there are not a lot of role models out there. And some of the role models give a very negative impression. So when we see someone in movies or even in school, when we see gang leaders who are profiting from criminal activity and wearing nice clothes and driving a Mercedes, these people have a negative influence on younger people.

I think the younger people really need to see heroes and leaders who are not only making a difference in peoples’ lives but also prospering themselves so they can look to those people as examples and follow in their pursuit. Our children and young ones are going to be the future leaders of tomorrow. So it’s very important to have the right heroes and the right leaders impacting their lives.

How do people become heroes?

That’s a very good question. To start, self knowledge is really important. On the Greek temple of Apollo there is an inscription that reads, “Know thyself, and you will know the gods and the universe!” To know your strengths and weaknesses, your deepest desires and your deepest fears, really being able to understand where you begin and where you end and beyond.

Self knowledge is so important because through self knowledge we learn what it is that we really want to do, what our calling in life is, what our blessings are. By pursuing those blessings, by following our bliss, and doing what we love doing in service to others, we automatically become heroes.

How does it feel to be recognized as a ‘hero’?

It’s a really rewarding feeling. Coming from a stage in my life, having grown up in Scarborough here in Ontario, Canada, where I was suffering so much low self-esteem and feelings of worthlessness that I never took any leadership roles at all in school and in my young adulthood; to now come full-circle and be respected as a ‘leader’ as a ‘hero’ training entrepreneurs, executives, and educators and students alike on the qualities of leadership and being a hero…it really is a very rewarding feeling to be held in respect and esteem. Words can’t describe it.

Why do you think you were selected for this unique honor?

I believe that early in life, because of the unique situations that happened in my life, and the tragedies which I suffered, I connected at a deeper level, at a spiritual level, and found out at a very early age what my calling in life is. And my calling, my purpose, is to enrich the lives of as many people as I possibly can, using my God-given talents, writing being the main one. So I think I’ve been privileged because I saw my calling at an early age, and I took action and decided to pursue my calling regardless of what others were saying around me.

Do you have any good solutions to the problems facing society, especially racism, child and spousal abuse and violence among young people?

Our own image is reflected in every single human individual around us. What we do to others we are actually doing to ourselves. And if we mistreat somebody else, or if we call somebody else names or harm somebody, we are actually harming ourselves, because what goes around comes around and the law of motion says, ‘for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.’ If you want to be respected and treated with love and compassion, then you need to treat other people with love and compassion and respect – and you’ll get that back ten times over.

If you had three wishes for your life and the world, that would instantly come true, what would they be?

My first wish would be to have people in the world live in harmony and for people to find ways to be prosperous doing what it is that they really love doing. I’d love to see a world where we can actually accommodate that and help people to do what they love doing and prosper. I see so many people and see so many youth out there who have all these aspirations and dreams, but they’re not finding an outlet to be able to live those dreams. And they are really perishing inside. It’s so sad to see so many people who don’t find a direction or calling in life and are thinking of committing suicide. That is one wish: to see everyone living a prosperous life doing what they love doing.

My second wish, if there was a magic wand and it was a utopia, to end the wars and famine and disease, and have a world where there is just peace and love and respect for each other.

And finally, my third wish would be to have a world with people dedicated to EXCELLENCE. Because God is Excellence! Being the best of the best, holding ourselves to high standards and to quality. We would really have a paradise on earth if were committed to excellence – towards truth, and nobility, and something grand.

Abraham Lincoln

We would like to think all of our presidents of the United States were truly great men and to be sure, just handling the awesome responsibility of the presidency takes a special kind of individual. One of the unique and great things about the system of government in America is the concept of citizen leadership. This is the idea of an ordinary citizen rising up and becoming president for a while and then returning to private life.

But of the handful of men who have held that office, a few have stood out for their great achievements and leadership in a time that changed the country for ever. And one of these truly great presidents was Abraham Lincoln. Probably more than any other president, Lincoln had to handle an internal civil war that was far more than shouting and name calling. This was a dispute that could have torn the country in half and starting a rupturing that could have resulted in dozens of small weak independent states instead of the powerful nation we know as America today.

It was Lincoln’s leadership, his commitment to values and his strong moral fiber that made it possible for America to find its way through that war and then to begin the healing process that would eventually lead the nation back to unity once again. Lincoln’s term of service from 1860 until his death was one of considerable challenge. If he only had the problem of dealing with the attempt by the south to succeed from the union and his ability to keep those states as part of the American national territory, he would be lauded as a great American indeed.

One of the little known leadership styles that Lincoln used to his advantage in the organization of his presidency was his appointment of talented national figures from opposing political parties to be part of his cabinet. Lincoln felt that he needed to have close advisors from the opposing viewpoint to keep from having his presidency become insulated from the American people and one sided. By gathering members of the “loyal opposition” into his trusted inner circle, Lincoln was always aware of both sides of every issue which made him a stronger leader.

But that is not even his greatest accomplishment or the one that we remember him for the most. His bold and unchanging opposition to slavery is without any doubt his greatest contribution to the history of America and indeed to world history as well. When he was willing to put everything on the line to stop this barbaric social sin, Lincoln made a stand, against the popular opinion of the time in many cases that he would be the figure to bring slavery to an end.

It was not a stand that came without cost. The civil war was one of the bloodiest and costliest in the nation’s history if for no other reason than all casualties; on both sides were casualties of America. It would take many decades for the ravages of that horrible war to be repaired. The schism between north and south continued for decades and is still a part of our national personality in this country.

But the end result was what Lincoln wanted to be his legacy. By issuing the Emancipation Proclamation to make the end of slavery permanent, Lincoln followed that up with the passing of the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments which made permanent the freedoms that were hard fought and won in the Civil War.

The freedom that was won for so many black Americans in that war permanently enshrined the memory of Abraham Lincoln as one of our greatest presidents in the hearts and minds of all Americans. Small wonder the monument honoring him on Washington’s national mall is one of the most revered spots in the nation and one that thousands flock to each year to give respect for this great president that made liberty and freedom a reality for all Americans, not just a few. And his face on Mount Rushmore is well deserved so the very mountain itself shouts out, this is one of the greatest leaders in the history of this great country.

Online Game Evolution

Gaming is being future for new generation.

Next came the interpersonal interaction in a multi-player environment. The first such game was called DUNGEN. DUNGEN had players competing against one another to complete a series of quests. DUNGEN provided with new settings and players each time the user logged on.

The late 1970’s saw the start of video game craze with more and more households getting computer savvy. As a natural corollary, people started writing their own games for the home computers. These programming hobbyists traded and sold these home-grown games in local markets.

Other changes in the 1970’s were home gaming consoles which used game cartridges. That meant the people could collect games cartridges for one base unit instead of having bulky game console systems.

The 80s – some pause before the storm

1980’s saw growing craze for the video and computer game craze, but online gaming wasn’t on the horizon yet. New games with better sound and graphics were introduced and gained popularity. Pole Position and Pac-man were two that achieved big popularity. It was during 1980’s when Nintendo introduced its first gaming system.

The 90s – revolution begins

The 1990’s saw the phenomenal growth in both popularity and technology mostly because of the rise of 3-D and multimedia.

Myst, the intellectual adventure game introduced gaming on the CD-ROM format. Fancier 3-D graphics hardware made FPS (first person shooter) games such as Quake possible.

The late 1990’s saw the exponential growth of the Internet, MUDs (multi-user dungeons) which made online games wildly popular. New and improved graphical interfaces had people all over the world playing against each other not only in FPS games but also in real time strategy games (RTS games) as well as third person games like Grand Theft Auto.

This was also the period when websites started offering online games such as tetris, ping pong, mario bros, super Mario, and other free online flash games and non-flash based games free for playing after registering with them. This really pushed online gaming into the popular psyche.

The 21st Century – world is just a playground

Early years of the 21st century were dominated by the DVD-CD-ROM. It has changed the way online games are played. The latest gaming systems such as Sony’s play station and Microsoft’s X-box have networking capabilities to enable people play with each other in real time from all over the world. Exponentially growing broadband internet services have made playing these online games possible in true sense of the word.

The only drawback to the constantly evolving technology for online games is that what you buy today might become obsolete by the next year. Luckily, for the serious gamers, the resale industry for these online games is huge. This resale industry is just another element to the ever-changing history of online game.

Leadership Why Successful People Arent Always Successful Leaders

Many people assume that if someone is successful it is because they have good leadership skills. Some people assume that if a business is successful it is because it has good leaders. Leadership isn’t something that is particularly easy to pass on to other people. Sometimes a company is successful because a past leader was very skilled as a leader and the current leader simply has kept things running the same as before.

Great leadership is a rare skill. For most people it doesn’t come naturally. It is amazing how many organizations are successful even though they have only marginally competent people leading them. Many times this is because the structure of the organization helps make up for a leaders short comings. Sometimes it is because a particularly talented staff that makes up for the leaders deficiencies.

Any leadership development training should take into account some of the basic facts, which ought to be made available to the individual concerned for developing his leadership skill and techniques.

The training or program must adequately deal with deliberations on leadership, and not limit the understanding of the term to its limited sense. Any reference to conventional typecast leadership should be shunned. The training should also incorporate a comprehensive understanding of leadership virtues as applicable to individual requirements, and highlight the subtle differences between leadership and management.

The program should also take into account the attitude of people towards the individual qualities of the leader. It is imperative that leadership development training should be ideally structured in relation to the advancement of the individuals concerned, instead of looking for strengths in personal qualities.

While great leadership skills can make someone successful, the inverse is not true. Being successful doesn’t make you a good leader. If you are looking for leaders to learn from make sure you are looking for people who actually have good leadership skills and not just someone who is successful. You can’t assume that someone is a good leader just because they have had success. Many times people try to emulate people who have had success and try to follow their leadership styles. While this might be a good thing people often end up mimicking the bad habits of individuals.

The leadership development training also tries to make it clear that that collective requirements are of greater importance than individual necessities. Leadership development training tries to develop the quality of an individual to see a vision and look into the future, and develop his ambitions and aspirations.

One crucial virtue that such training emphasizes is that potential leaders should have the capability to see how details fit into the big picture. Such training also stresses the need to have the attitude that helps one to view things from the point of view of other individuals, and also able to comprehend in the proper manner the most suitable approach towards them.

Well I started feeling healthy I went inside to get the bomb and she turned and looked at me and she said oh my god got my son over the next five days I lost everything the ability to move my legs would not hold me up and then I couldn't breathe he was at home under the care of his mom and dad and they realized he wasn't breathing they rushed him to the hospital and the emergency room physician examined him and pronounced him dead sometime later another doctor came through he picked me up according to my mother he ran upstairs refuge performed a tracheotomy and put me in the on this would make anyone feel like giving up but just wait you'll see that that isn't the case.

So I continued to fight sepal did everything he could to get better he fought against polio every day it was hard painful and tiring but I never gave up and I'm not going to 18 months later he left the hospital and came to his residence in Dallas Texas but his life was never going to be the same he couldn't play sports he couldn't go to church and he couldn't hang out with his friend's people didn't like me very much back then I felt like they were uncomfortable around me what did you do all day all the same thing everybody else does I woke up brushed my teeth washed my face shaved had some breakfast well I just need a little bit of help too then what would you do all day well I would read or study something in the future I'd do some drawing.

I hated just watching tv Paul worked hard to graduate with honors from high school but I did not get into the college they said that I was too crippled they did not have the vaccination he didn't accept that for two years of tormenting them tonight they accepted me on two conditions squirm did I take the polio vaccine it's going to get a fraternity to be responsible for finally something good happened I wanted to be a lawyer for a long time after years of hard work Paul passed the bar and became a lawyer and I was a pretty damn good one too but he didn't stop there with the help of a pen attached to a stick Paul wrote his biography entirely with his mouth so why write a book to inspire thousands of people just like you no matter where you're from or what your past is are the challenges that you could be faced with you can truly do anything you just got to set your mind to it but work hard Paul what's your dream to not let polio defeat me but to defeat polio.

Therefore I wanted to accomplish the things I was told I couldn't accomplish that to achieve my dreams. I dreamed Paul may have an iron lung but he has a golden soul and a diamond heart my story is an example of why your past or even disability does not have to define your future.

HOW COVID-19 DIFFERENTIATED PEOPLE

When I was small child I were taught there is one planet for the human race it's called planet Earth but now that I am older I realised that is a lie there are two planets not one planet for the rich and another for the poor and Covid-19 may be a lot more dangerous in one among these planets this is income inequality and it's a big deal right now for the next jiffy.

I would like to require you on a journey around the world to show you just how different those two planets are this journey starts in Brazil here millions of people live in a favela it's a slum built on mountains where the people are poor electricity goes out over time and living conditions are very basic and this slum is literally right next to the rich neighbourhood with tennis courts pools and loss of space this is income inequality in one sad image yes we are all in this together but COVID19 is much more dangerous in these packed houses

Moving on to San Francisco. San Francisco is one of the richest cities in the world where a fancy ice-cream cost me seven dollars they make it by minimising the crystals between the ice cream molecules so that it becomes extra creamy that's good it's good but right outside the fancy shop you see this homelessness in San Francisco the top 1% and the bottom 1% live in the same city but they don't live together in fact they rarely interact.

In India I went to Mumbai and I checked into the Four Seasons luxury hotel on a petite because I wanted to treat myself for one fancy night. Only to open the window and see this just loves of Mumbai the Four Seasons was built ashore that want to be slums and in those slums COVID 19 spreads much much faster than it does in a five-star hotel this is income inequality that can literally kill you.

In South Africa I saw the worst inequality of my life between the blacks and the whites it's where villas are built right next to swans and inside those slums millions of black people live some of them got public bathrooms only five years ago.

These slums are so cramped that it's almost impossible to social distance and stay safe by now it's very obvious we have one planet for the rich and another planet for the poor but the crazy thing is from the inside these two planets are actually very similar one day.

I went to spend the night in one of the slums in South Africa even when people warned me not to do it do that because they're going to rob you mean these people are their house today and there I met the most generous humans despite not having much they opened their homes to me and their heart is such a lot and that is the purpose we may live in different planets but we really aren't the same.

In Kenya I decided to get to half haircuts half a haircut in the rich area and another half within the poor area the value was $10 here. $1 here and the outcome was the similar

In India Where I bought a shirt from the rich area and another shirt from the poor area $60 vs. $4 I cut them in half

and sued them together and the result was the same in our little planets we actually want similar things but our lives are not the same especially in a pandemic.

From India to Brazil to the United States to South Africa to Kenya COVID-19 is a lot more dangerous in Planet poor it's much harder when you don't have public bathrooms it's much harder when you live in cramped areas. It's much harder when you don't have access to a hospital this is not supposed to make you hate the rich I have no problem with rich people good for you.

I have a problem with extreme poverty why are we ignoring it why is this not on everyone's newsfeed especially right now I don't know how to fix income inequality but I do know if we want to beat COVID-19 then we need one planet instead of two right now and that should be Planet Earth see you next time.

Escape plan from China. Story of Tibet's

HOW I ESCAPED

This is the most daunting escape route in the world across the Himalayas on foot. It's an escape route that has operated secretly for 40 years Tibetan refugees in flight from Chinese.

Repression is good. So china annexed Tibet in 1950 unchallenged by the world since then western observers believe that up to a million Tibetans a sixth of the population have perished through execution and starvation this is the story of one group of escapers from where they left the road inside Tibet they have already walked eight days over rugged. Terrain climbing up the Himalayas just to approach the border with Nepal. They have no maps no knowledge of the route all they own is what they carry merger rations and their life savings they have no specialist clothing age 19 and his brother Tenzin aged 11have been captured before by Chinese border police.

They tortured him they tortured me as

well. The Chinese do not treat Tibetans like

human beings but like cattle,

they are not frightened of hurting

people. If you try to escape

they will shoot you the brothers survived now they're trying again to escape Emmer is a 20-year-old city waitress prepared to leave her family forever.

must make it.

We must bear any hardship just for the

Their escape from Tibet will continue at high altitude for 120 miles across Nepal until they reach the lowlands and now there are new dangers if they are found by the Nepalese authorities before they are registered as refugees they face deportation as illegal aliens and a return to the Chinese gulag. They also face harassment robbery extortion. Even shooting at the hands of the Nepalese police on day 11 the journey is taking its toll. All are suffering from extreme hunger altitude sickness and snow blindness

a herdsman from eastern Tibet all day is worried about having nothing to eat all night we are cold and hungry. My foot has burst blisters I'm in so much pain.

I wonder whether I can stay alive. I cannot believe the suffering. It's very hard on me because the path is so difficult. The group must reach Kathmandu where they've heard there's a Tibetan community, which could help them a monk seeking religious freedom outside Tibet. I think we will reach Kathmandu in eight

to nine days. If we don't get there we will die, but Kathmandu is 20 days and 300 miles away

Nepal has given no haven to refugees. They put the electric button inside my mouth it burns me badly and gave me a wound they treated me very badly in prison I thought I would not be able to go to India after release the brothers chose the toughest escape route over the mountains in Nepal the processing continues relentlessly the group know that vital decisions on their future about to be made cannot return to Tibet because he is a marked man.

But the united but what can I do the rest of the group have their passes and money and prepare to leave for India passing decides that he and Tenzin should leave with the group illegally and cross the border without papers or money once more they are on the run the Indian border is 12 hours away at the Nepal India border the Tibetan refugees present customs officers with a small bribe and their papers are not checked they are allowed to continue passing and Tenzin cross the border as illegal aliens two days later the refugees arrive at Delhi the capital of India where they have to change buses for Dharmsala and the Dalai lama foreign oh as India is attempting to limit the flow of Tibetan refugees the prospect of deportation hangs over the two brothers 12 hours north of Delhi they near Dharmsala in the foothills of the Himalayas this is where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government have been exiled for over 30 years hello foreign

Seven thousand Tibetan refugees have crowded into Dharamshala so the government in exile has adopted a new policy to discourage their own refugees from staying in India it is struggling to support them and work and accommodation are scarce in 1993 5000 new arrivals from Tibet were registered here in 1994 only two thousand all refugees are carefully checked in recent years many have been suspected of being Chinese agents the papers from Nepal are inspected without papers refugees will be returned to Tibet Tenzin has no papers more as he has no papers i cannot go to the monastery without papers either from Nepal or here we can't go anywhere this is impossible foreign so thank you at a celebration for the anniversary of the Tibetan school in Dharamshala the group have their first chance to see their leader his holiness the Dalai lama all who escape from Tibet into India will receive an audience with the living buddha of compassion for passing and Tenzin he is the highest authority foreign then comes a bitter twist to the Dalai lama's message.

He warns the refugees that though they can receive education in India he wants them to return to Tibet he knows there is the risk of Chinese reprisals but without their return the country's culture will die the land will be lost this is last chance to help Tenzin stay in India he and the official describe passing and Tenzin will have the papers which will allow them to train together at a monastery in the south of India but passing rejects the Dalai lama's pressure to return to Tibet I will not go home until Tibet is free i don't know about my brother he will make up his own mind when he grows up the immediate future for richen and Sonam is precarious if i find work I'll stay uh if i can't find work i will have to go back to Tibet if i get a place in a monastery i will stay otherwise i will have to go back to Tibet also there is no place for them in Dharmsala Sonam and ranchmen must take their chances elsewhere in India is entitled to only one year's education at the transit school in Dharamshala before she has to return i cannot go back to Tibet so soon i want to go back only when Tibet i don't have any other way of finding money as i will always pray for the freedom of Tibet Tenzin says he intends to study hard he wants to return one day to Tibet to see his mother again until that day there can be no contact i wouldn't tell her how we had to steal food to live how when we crossed the snow mountains i got snow blindness how i cried because i miss my mother so much how i could hardly walk because my feet were wounded passing and Tenzin are safely installed in the draping monastery in south India 1500 miles to the north the Chinese maintain an iron grip and every day their subjects set out again risking their lives to escape from Tibet thank you.

I CAN BE LIKE THIS

This is the story telling of a man David Goggin's.

I gained 125 pounds I was lazy that's who I am I'm a guy who likes to sit back

watch TV and eat pizza like everybody tours at 97 pounds working for Ecolab's spraying for cockroaches making $1,000 a month. I thought that was me at my 100 percent potential come to find out a few years later. I wasn't even near that 106pounds less graduating Navy still training.

We don't do all these other things looking back on that that was me trying hard. That's why people can understand what is in us we have no idea until we start trying hard and I mean trying hard where you're obsessed with hey this was new my rule is that wow this isn't always fun it's not always meant to be fun and that's when you know you're trying hard.

I knew in the back of my mind that I could pull off. This whatever one. I knew I could I knew that but. I was afraid of the work because I wasn't gifted with brains. I haven't gifted with god given talent So I knew to get to where. I had to go I knew the work was gonna be something that I didn't want to even attack.

So I was just put it off I didn't try hard enough because I didn't put forth every single bit of an ounce of pressure in my body into being better they ended up being a 300pound guy that made $1,000 a month and I was fine there that was okay.

We all have to be people we don't have to be people yeah I'm not saying you're crazy we have the easy voice which is that 20% telling yourself that you're I'm easy at ninety percent of my full potential maybe 100 percent at that 20 percent that's that voice that we all love that's that very comfortable voice that that's that mom holding you saying it's gonna be okay.

Doesn't care how good you only love you just love does not matter how messed up you are living that is the place you want to be one voice this other voice that we walk too much far away from the voice say hey man you are not doing so we have tried to get this voice out of our mind completely and we live over here in this land.

So what you have to do first is turn up this voice over here the voice saying things to you that aren't nice that it's in our head say you know what man dude you're not doing [SHIT] yeah I mean it's not putting yourself down people take this the wrong way in this new society.

I'm not saying to put yourself down I'm saying listen to the truth and the truth isn't in the 20% the truth is in this other part of your brain saying look man you're wasting a bunch of percentages here we have 80 more percent that we're not tapping into because in this other 80% is suffering pain failure failure failure self doubt darkness and then a whole bunch of light but to get to this light you got to go through all of this so I'll have us know that I can get over now, but over here man this is much better because I have to go through this journey that is not fun

this list from 20 to 100 percent this in between is not fun so we decide to live over here so everybody goes how do you do that you know exactly how to do that you know exactly it's not a magic trick there's nothing to talk about in that book that's a magic trick it's all back down to a very primitive mindset of we just have to do it's like breathing becomes normal like we didn't know that that that we're doing it that's how you have to live your life when that alarm clock goes off at 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning your brain will say no

you just say it's just what we do it's what we do now because to get to where you want to go the amount of pain involved am I saying physical I'm not saying you got to break yourself off the amount of mental pain of how many times you're gonna have to do something that you don't want to do to get to where you want to go it's gonna be it there's give me more times you do something that you don't want to do then you are gonna want.

Golden Temple Amritsar. Biggest Kitchen of the world.

GOLDEN TEMPLE AMRITSAR.

This is the largest free kitchen in the world. Open 24 hours year-round, this food hall feeds 100,000people for free of charge every day. And on religious holidays, that number can double. Just one of those huge bowls is enough to feed around 10,000 people.

We visited Amritsari India to find out everything that goes into feeding such a large crowd and to see just what it takes to make such big batches. This is Harmandir Sahib, often mentioned because of the Golden Temple. It's the largest Sikh shrine in the world. But despite being part of the holy site, this kitchen doesn't discriminate.

The food is liberal to anyone no matter religion, gender, or ethnicity. Narrator: Community kitchens, or langar, have been popular across South Asia since the birth of Sikhism. And the langar at the Golden Temple has been serving meals to all loved people since 1577.

Each dish is cooked in giant metal vats. Over 100 gas cylinder sand, huge piles of wood are burned through every day to keep things running 24/7. And there's only one short 30-minute break in the cooking, from 4:30 to 5 a.m. Thousands of vegetables have to be peeled and prepared by volunteers before they're taken to be cooked. And while the menu can vary depending on availability or the donated vegetables that the kitchen may receive, it is always vegetarian.

But keeping this many of us fed takes tons of ingredients. Narrator: If you've never heard the term "quintal" before, it's 100 kilograms. So that's a total of 2,000 kilos, or 2 tonnes, of dal per day. Narrator: That's over 375 kilos of onions and 100 kilos of spices every 24 hours, only for the dal. To make it, Chana dal, or split chickpeas, and urad dal, or black lentils, are mixed and repeatedly washed. They're then moved into even larger vats and mixed with the onions, spices, salt, and ghee, a clarified butter, and cooked together. The kitchen spends over$5,000 a day on ghee alone.

And it's not just the dal. Each day, the kitchen offers the lentils, a vegetable dish, bread, kheer, rice, pickle, water, and tea. Kheer is a sweet pudding made of rice, milk, sugar, and almonds boiled together. But one of the biggest demands on the kitchen is bread. Unlike the huge vats that can be made in bulk, each chapati needs to be rolled out separately before cooking. Once rolled, each one is hand coated in ghee to feature flavor and keep it from drying out. To keep up with demand, the work is split between machines and people cooking by hand. Producing the bread alone takes 10 tonnes of flour a day. [machines buzzing] Narrator: And to keep this operation running smoothly, it takes a lot of volunteers. Narrator: This selfless service is an important part of Sikhism. Seawards, or religious volunteers, are key to keeping this operation running daily.

From peeling and chopping vegetables and even donating food to serving and cleaning, almost everything is volunteer-run. Narrator: Using metal trays keeps waste to a minimum, but it makes a lot of noise. [metal plates clanging] The scale of the kitchen has been constantly expanding to accommodate more and more visitors each year. 20 years ago, the kitchen will consume 3,500 kilos of flour per day. But now that number has tripled. It now costs over $4 million a year to stay the kitchen running. But with a constant stream of donations and support, the langar has kept up with demand no matter the number of visitors.
