Its been over a year – apologies for this we have been really busy winning new clients, our recent wins include packaging designs for the countries leading illustrated postman… We have worked with the wonderful people at Destination Bristol to help promote Bristol as the best city in the world (we all know it we just need to make the world see it!) Its very exciting times at Cow – long may it continue.

Tasting something new in 2011

Slightly belated, but better late than never – Happy New Year to you all. We trust you managed to find the time to relax of the Christmas break (did you indeed get a break!?). Hopefully all the resolutions have been made (and already broken) and you are looking forward to 2011 with a positive outlook. The herd here are looking forward to a number of changes including staff additions, myriad new projects, new cleaners for the offices (VERY exciting!) and heaps more besides. Remember we are always here to help you in any way we can and if you have a new project or idea that you would like to run past us, then do not hesitate to get in touch. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you all for your support throughout 2010. It has been a great year for us and here’s hoping it will continue into 2011. We have many exciting projects in the pipeline and on the horizon, so this may bring about the necessity to grow the herd. Therefore as ever, watch this space for exciting changes on the farm.

The case of the cobblers shoes

It is true that we impress on our own clients the importance of updating their website regularly where possible – and then we fall foul of the easiest mistake to make ourselves – and don’t update the website for a little while. Although we do of course have our twitter updates that we try to keep up to date with (at least one of the herd does!). No real excuse for old content, so we are declaring an early New Year’s resolution will be to maintain it. There may be a carrot and stick effect required however (well, a donut and stick effect perhaps since ‘Greggs’ is our local eaterie).

There is actually a lot going on at the moment and we have been team members down of late, which is why if we could find an excuse we would use this one.

We are web-heavy this month, although finishing off some exciting graphic work too. Would love to say more but client confidentiality and all that! So keep checking back for updates on the exciting work the herd are doing.

Launch of latest website – The Clothes Counsellor

Run by Joanne Murgatroyd, a qualified image consultant and make-up artist, her services are second to none and a fantastic treat for yourself or a gift for others.

Based in Hungerford (but Jo will commute to your home) The Clothes Counsellor’s belief is ‘Outer Projection, Inner Confidence’ and that is sure to be true once you have experienced one of her sessions.

This site is a WordPress site, with maximum CMS capabilities allowing for the client to have control of a huge amount of the site. It is easy to use and is a great solution for those without huge budgets who want a simple to use, workable CMS solution.

Social Media IS important

We still find a number of our clients sceptical about the need for having a ‘social media’ strategy. It is likely that the thought of it is daunting and people feel they have to dedicate vast tranches of time to it in order for it to be successful. This is not necessarily true however – and now thanks to Smart phones it is so quick and easy to maintain contact with your customers with the click of a button that there should be no excuse. If the set-up of the various social media channels is something that is causing worry, we can do it for you – and give you the training you require to maintain a constant campaign.

You don’t have to get involved with all of the new social media channels right away, but why not get to grips with one or two and then progress onto more.

The key to social media success is to not use the various channels as hard-core sales tools, but build up a reputation via engagement and conversation. If you are interested in what others are up to, the same will be true of them.

The Power of Twitter

For all of you ‘non-believers’ out there, or those of you who cannot see the benefit of Twitter as a communications tool – here is why we think you are wrong.

It is a very simple story and concerns us, the Cow team, trying to contact various companies (including a well known broadband company and a domain registration company) on behalf of our clients. After having spent 50 plus minutes on hold to each particular company when using the telephone, it was decided to use the ‘online’ chat facility offered. This proved fruitless too as no-one answered the ‘chat’ and the session timed out. So we tried email. The response times of an email are often in excess of 48 hours so don’t expect a reply anytime soon, and we certainly didn’t (indeed we never received a response at all but that is for another time!)

So – after spending far too long getting no-where, it was decided to send a tweet to the companies concerned telling them of the problems we had been having with the more ‘traditional’ communications channels. By jove! After only minutes we were Tweeted back with apologies and promises of a call immediately to sort out the problem.

It was pleasing to see the immediate results of a communication – and re-asserted our faith that currently, Twitter IS a useful channel for communications.

Ok – there are caveats to this argument, but for now – it is all good.

Christmas is coming…..is your company prepared?
