Therefore one of our primary goals is to promote organic grain production in Texas, and to provide those farmers a ready market for their crops. By encouraging farms around us to become organic, we will promote economic prosperity for small to medium sized sustainable family farms. We will reduce carbon emissions by reducing transport costs from trucks, rail, and ships. We will provide the highest quality organic feeds that are free of antibiotics, hormones, and recycled animal byproducts.

In addition our small farmer customers will be able to take more organic eggs to their local Farmer’s Markets. They will be able to feed their cattle, sheep, and goats on a healthy diet of organic feeds to produce a superior meat product.

Coyote Creek Farm

Coyote Creek Feeds Now Available at Earth Fare Stores

May 11, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Media contacts:

Emily Erickson, 512-285-2556, Emily@CoyoteCreekFarm.com

Mark Vanderhoek, 478-318-7202, Mark@CoyoteCreekFarm.com

Chicken Enthusiasts Have a New Organic Feed Source:

Coyote Creek Feeds Now Available at Earth Fare Stores

FORSYTH, Ga. — More people are making room in their backyards for chickens, preferring fresh eggs grown organically and without antibiotics, GMOs, or residues from conventional pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Now, at Earth Fare stores in nine states throughout the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest, backyard chicken enthusiasts have access to the very best chicken feed: Coyote Creek’s USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified feeds.

“We are excited to partner with Earth Fare and increase access to our high-quality organic feeds,” said Cameron Molberg, chief executive officer of Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill. “Earth Fare’s commitment to wholesome food is well known, and we are glad sthey chose Coyote Creek as their chicken feed brand of choice. Our feeds are composed of ingredients with integrity, sourced from family farms. We mill the organic grains into high-quality feeds, and farmers and backyard chicken enthusiasts enjoy the final product - eggs that are organically-produced, nutrient-dense, and of the highest quality.”

For more than 10 years, Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill has been milling Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified feeds at a mill located in Elgin, Texas, outside of Austin. In addition, Coyote Creek has more than 12 years experience in raising organic pastured poultry. Producing eggs in this category, Coyote Creek sells its eggs under the brand World’s Best Eggs. Now, backyard chicken owners can access the very same feed at Earth Fare and they can grow the World’s Best Eggs in their own backyards.

Coyote Creek organic chicken feeds are available in 20-pound bags at Earth Fare stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Coyote Creek is also building a second feed mill and egg farm that will be USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified in Forsyth, Ga., just outside of Macon, Ga. across the South can now find the “World’s Best Eggs” in their local
refrigerated section. “Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs” are humanely-raised,
USDA Certified Organic eggs from pasture-raised, organic-laying flocks in the
South.

“We’re incredibly excited to have our eggs

“Our founder, Jeremiah Cunningham, said that ‘World’s Best Eggs’ is a category
of egg as well as our brand. All chickens that are raised on healthy and
organic pastures, that are able to express themselves fully as chickens should,
and that eat certified organic feed, produce the World’s Best Eggs – and our
hens do just that.”

“Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs” is a
trademark of Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill and Farm. The original farm and
mill, both USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified, is located in
Elgin, Texas, just outside of Austin. The “World’s Best Eggs” have long been
available in Whole Foods Market stores in the Southwest Region. The company’s
expansion into the South is thanks in large part to an agreement with Bethesda
Farm, a USDA Certified Organic farm raising 5,000 hens on sunny, organic
pastures in Raiford, Florida.

“Coyote Creek is a terrific business partner,”
said Bethesda Farm manager, Jeremiah Mathews. “They have helped us take our
farm to the next level, walking us through the organic certification process
and teaching us how to scale up while maintaining beautiful organic pastures
for our hens.”

The eggs will be available in Whole Foods Market
stores in the South Region, which includes Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North
Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Coyote Creek is also building a second feed mill
and egg farm that will be USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified

Corn is the ingredient which supplies the calories in most of our rations, and honeybees like corn sugar almost as much as chickens do. It’s no wonder, then, that your feeders are swarmed with honeybees this winter.

The great news for the bees is that Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill & Farm is Bee Friendly Farmer Certified, in addition to USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified! All of our products are free of GMOs, synthetic herbicides and pesticides, animal by-products, hormones, and pharmaceuticals.

What to do about bees in your bonnet, I mean feeder, you ask? Your best bet is to try and determine where the beehive is and “head them off at the pass.” Grab a seat and observe the bees. Where are they coming from? Bees generally fly in a straight line from their hive to the food. Once you’ve determined the direction they’re coming from, put out a bowl of sugar water in between the hive and your feeders. Plant a winter flower garden too! Something which makes you feel good, and also feel good about having eaten there. Tortuga Flats in Round Rock lies squarely in the second camp. Built by two Texans named Tre and Octavio, Tortuga Flats started as a food truck and now occupies an almost paradoxical location of calm and tranquility in the shadow of the sea of concrete and steel that is the Interstate 35/Texas Highway 45 interchange in Round Rock. Billed as a twist on the traditional Mexican Icehouse, its owners drew inspiration from Steinbeck’s Tortilla Flat, a story essentially about friends enjoying each others company, as well as the childhood Tre and Octavio spent scrambling through Brushy Creek hunting for turtles. The result is a friendly, welcoming, and celebratory environment where you can meet friends up for a margarita and a killer enchilada.

The food is, in a word, fantastic. Tre and Octavio clearly use food as a means of self-expression, which requires that care be taken in the choice of ingredients. Tortuga Flats seeks out locally sourced vegetables, eggs, and humanely raised meat whenever possible, and you can taste the difference. Whether it’s chicken tortilla soup with Texas sweet corn or enchiladas Tejanas with beef brisket, topped with a Coyote Creek egg, the result is something distinctly different from your run-of-the-mill TexMex “combination #1” plate.

Coyote Creek Organic Farm and Tortuga Flats share many of the same core values and principles. In seeking out ingredients which are handled with the highest integrity and respect, Tortuga Flats naturally turned to local sources. By cultivating relationships with small farmers and local distributors, there’s an opportunity to fill one need while simultaneously creating another: the farmer finds a market for her produce and the people are able to make a choice which more closely reflects their own values. Call it voting with your wallet. Similarly, Coyote Creek’s founder, Jeremiah Cunningham, wanted a high-quality feed for his chickens but the organic feed mills who produced it were thousands of miles away. So he built his own, and with it, the relationships with Texan farmers to supply it with organic corn, sorghum, soybeans, and wheat. The net result in both companies is a network of sustainable and ethical businesses, supported by an informed public which honors that effort.

The grassroots movement towards a stable local food supply and with it a healthy planet isn’t driven by endless increases in efficiency and production. Rather, it’s a small but significant part in living an integrated and engaged life. By honoring the stewardship we have over the soil, waterways, wildlife, and air along with a compassion and appreciation for those who grow and prepare the food we eat, we can have it all. Healthy ecosystems, a thriving economy, and full bellies. The whole enchilada, as it were. Thanks for your support.

Coyote Creek Farm Buys Land in Forsyth for Organic Egg Farm

Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill and Farm

December 22, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Media contacts: Georgia: Mark Vanderhoek, (478) 318-7202 or mark@coyotecreekfarm.com Texas: Emily Erickson, (512) 285-2556 or emily@coyotecreekfarm.com

Elgin, Texas Company Buys Land in Forsyth for Organic Egg Farm

FORSYTH, Ga. — Organic agriculture in Georgia took a step forward this week, with the acquisition of an 88-acre farm in Forsyth, Monroe County. The land will be converted into an organic pastured poultry farm by World’s Best Eggs of Georgia, a division of Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill and Farm, of Elgin, Texas.

“We are excited to expand into Georgia, where there is a tremendous demand for organic food and a growing organic community,” said Cameron Molberg, chief executive officer of Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill and Farm. “The Forsyth and Central Georgia community has been very welcoming, and we can’t wait to get our farm up and running.”

The land is located on Georgia Highway 83 North, and will include pasture land for the hens who will spend their time outside, eating grass, bugs, and organic feed while producing nutrient-dense and delicious eggs. The eggs will be sold under the label Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs at Whole Foods Market stores in the South.

World’s Best Eggs of Georgia will employ 11 people when it is fully operational next year. The land will also include an organic feed mill, which will employ 12 people when fully operational.

“We are excited that Coyote Creek Farms selected Monroe County as the next location for its World’s Best Eggs operation,” said Tiffany Andrews, executive director of the Development Authority of Monroe County.

“The farm and mill will complement Monroe County’s existing agriculture base as well as provide good paying jobs in our community,” said Butch Copelan, chairman of the Development Authority of Monroe County. We look forward to it becoming an asset for family farmers in our area and throughout the South. We are proud to have it in Monroe County.”

2014 has been a great year for Coyote Creek, and we’re thankful to the folks who are committed to supporting organic agriculture. When buying organic products, you help to guarantee the success of organic, chemical-free farms; ensure clean soil, air, and waterways; and promote good health for farmers, farmhands, and consumers alike!

This year, Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill and Farm passed several significant milestones: we expanded our feed offerings to include pelleted feeds, we grew our laying flock to help meet the growing demand for pasture-raised organic eggs, and we raised our first batch of organic-fed turkeys for Wheatsville Food Coop in Austin! Our partnership with Wheatsville started in 2012, when we delivered our first case of Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs. Since then, they’ve been a steadfast advocate for our certified-organic, pasture-raised eggs, so when they asked us to raise turkeys for their Thanksgiving, we jumped at the chance. For a bit more information (and photos!), take a look at Wheatsville’s blog here.

Raising turkeys has been a real treat, and we sure enjoyed their fun and curious personalities. If you’ve ever thought about raising a turkey, DO IT! They’re gentle and friendly and get along well with chickens, too. You’ll want to be prepared, however. Visit our Turkeys 101 Page before you take the plunge.

Our turkeys sold out quickly through Wheatsville’s preorder system, so if you weren’t able to reserve your bird, please accept our apologies. Whether you end up with a Coyote Creek turkey or one from Mary’s, Grateful Harvest, or another local farm, the key to a delicious bird is proper presentation, but don’t take our word for it! Check out the following links for some great ideas and keep an eye on our Facebook page for more Thanksgiving cheer!

Over the past few weeks we have seen two harsh cold and wet spells that made egg production drop even more than it normally does with winter weather. Some of our hens took a brief break from producing eggs, but they are back in business! They are ready to take on whatever weather comes their way now, but the grocery shelves may be a little bare for the next few weeks.

Thank you for your commitment to local, organic, pastured-based farming!

Jeremiah Cunningham - Food Rebel

Jeremiah Cunningham - Food Rebel

Emily and Jerry confirm with the hens that they are indeed happy...

Emily and Jerry confirm with the hens that they are indeed happy with all the beautiful winter and spring grasses!!

Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs Donates Eggs to Fight Hunger

Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs
Donates Eggs to Fight Hunger

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Elgin, Texas (March 23, 2012) – Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs is excited to announce their partnership with Nubian Queen Lola’s Cajun Soul Food Cafe to help end hunger in the Austin area. World’s Best Eggs will be providing organic, pasture-raised eggs for Lola as she closes her kitchen every Sunday to provide breakfast tacos for persons experiencing homelessness.

“It is my firm belief that no one should go to sleep hungry. We’ve just got to do more. I can’t overstate the importance that individuals and families who are homeless receive not just calories, but real sustenance in the form of healthy organic food,” says Cameron Molberg of Coyote Creek Farm.

Some claim soy may cause or contribute to the growth of cancer in some individuals. In 2008, Cornell University’s Program of Breast Cancer and Environmental Risk Factors warned women who are at risk for breast cancer to limit their soy intake.

Other concerns are that soy allergies have been on a steady rise over the past three years, and the proteins in eggs are typically derived from soy-based feeds for laying hens. Though the effects typically diminish, consumers with severe soy allergies prefer to avoid soy altogether.

With 80% of all grocery items now containing soy and soy by-products, Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs has created an egg that allows consumers to avoid the over-consumption of soy.

Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs is dedicated to sustainable, organic farming, and ranching practices, coupled with the humane treatment of all farm animals.

Please get Monsanto out of our government, now!

While campaigning in 2007 Barak Obama promised:

“We’ll tell ConAgra that it’s not the Department of Agribusiness.
