I feel that Taoism, Buddhism, and Zen are all practices for emptying the mind. Some say Buddhism is atheistic, and from the Abrahamic point of view, it is. But none of the 3 above are atheistic at all; they only know that no words, thoughts, or ideas can reveal Spirit. They, all 3, just point to Dualism, the Yin/Yang, and point the adept there for a final stoppage of his mind. Ah Ha!

Hi Norma Jean. I’m sure you won’t remember me, but my name was Kathy Vick then and my dad owned the Richfield service station across the street from the Sahara behind Foxy’s. I was only in Las Vegas from the fourth through seventh grade. I went to John S Park elementary school and then in seventh grade to John C Fremont. It must have been at school that we met. I can still picture you today and always think of you when I think of Las Vegas. We were friends at school and I can remember you gave me tickets to go to the buffet at the Dunes. You were always extremely kind and I’ve never forgotten that. I now live outside of Boise, Idaho. I hope life has been kind to you and that you are happy.

As I put it in writing, I’m starting to think I just may have some issues I need to deal with.

The totals as currently given do sum correctly:
Fellowship: 177,227
Two Towers: 143,436
RotK: 134,462
Total: 455,125

For some reason, the initial table has The Hobbit (95,022) rather than Fellowship, but the full list has both.

Dear Norma,
I found our name on this internet thread. We spent the summer of 1967 together on a tour to Europe through Westlake School for Girls with french teacher Marco Hauert. I remember you went home early and flew out of Rome to see your fiancé sho was at boot camp. Your cousin Larry was also on the tour and he flew back with us to LA and upon arrival had learned that his father had died and theres was no one to pick him up at the airpot. My family took him home and he spent the night with us and why father bought an airline ticket and he flew to Las Vegas the next day. I always wondered what happened and how our lives took off in different directions ... college etc . Hope all is well and my love to you and Larry . xxxooo Joan Sullivan Aldrich

I remember that Atlas statue in Irvington Plaza as a small child in the early 60’s. It was next to, or attached to the bowling alley there where you say is a flea market now. That bowling alley, and that statue were among my first memories when I was 3 or 4 years old. My mom and aunt were in a bowling league there and my cousin and I went to the nursery while they bowled. We hated the nursery and we both “escaped” several times and found our moms. Wish I could find pics of all that.

I have had this same reoccuring dream yet I havent worn contacts for almost 10 years when I had lasik. Dreams are generally anxiety based but I believe the most purposeful are the dreams where our subconscious minds are tyring to alert us to what our conscious minds are not yet aware of. We are not seeing things as clearly as we should and should utilize this message to figure it out what we're missing. I've never analyzed this when these dreams occur but I will start to look at what's happing in my life next time I have this dream.

Can’t believe this thread is so old and still being added on to! I have this same dream about my contacts being too big. Been having it for years and years, perhaps about 19 years altogether. Like others here, I believe it must be the subconscious trying to tell me that I’m not looking at something closely enough/I need to concentrate on something in my life more. Just wish I knew what those things were! Thanks everybody, past and present, for sharing. What a strange thing that links us :)

Raising hand...me too!
I googled because last night I had the dream again but this time the lenses were a dark, opaque, red. Anyway, they were like placemats & I remember thinking, "well I got them in in past dreams so I can do it again!" Kind of lucid.
We're struggling to "see", I'm unsure if we know what our focus should be or even that we're lacking focus. I think that's why it's confusing...what does my subconscious want me to know!??!

Thanks for telling us about those two translations. They both put the King James translations to shame. But thank God for modern pastors who are fully competent Biblical scholars and still teach only from the original languages. These two translations still have a lot of problems such as some words not even translated at all (transliterations), and some of the same old mistranslations. For an example they both put the first man in a "garden" rather then the park described in The Bible itself (which may well have contained several gardens), and they both still call it "Eden" as opposed to the actual English language translation "Pleasure-Delight". And I was surprised to see that they both have anachronisms, they must have been translated a long time ago.

So we still do not have any published English language translations good enough for Bible study.

I drove a taxi for Yellow Cab in Las Vegas, owned at that time by Francis Riddle. I believe she was awarded the company in her divorce from Major Riddle. She was affectionately known as "Old Lady Riddle", only behind her back. I know of no one with the balls to say that to her face. LOL Ms. Riddle was tough, a bit crusty but very loyal and good to her drivers. Knowing her and her devout Mormon beliefs I can visualize her saying something such as, "You can come in but that whore stays on the porch."

I just found a copie at a garage sale and was trying to research the book didn’t find much other than amazing reviews! It is the original and in good shape! Already read it to my 4year old son! What a great book! Was wondering if anyone knew the value of it? 1971 publishing.
