Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 LSQ New Music Awards.

The 2012 competition will see 8 composer’s works premiered by one of the UK’s premier contemporary music ensembles the Lunar Saxophone Quartet at top London venue The Forge during July 2012.

2012 finalists will have their pieces critiqued by the judging panel on the evening as well as national press and music publishers being present to hear their work. The winning composer will have their piece recorded by the LSQ on an upcoming album with 2nd and 3rd sponsors prizes also being awarded on the evening.

Contemporaneous is all about the music of now, and our annual Call for Scores is one way that we keep up to speed with what is going on in our day and age. We are looking for compelling chamber and ensemble music written since 2002 by composers of all ages and origins. We are able to consider works for a wide variety of instrumentations, including works with electronic components. While we will consider works that slightly exceed the following parameters, we mostly accept works for the following instrumentation, including solos and any subsets:

UnTwelve 2011 Microtonal Composition Competition

UnTwelve is pleased to offer our third annual competition for composers in
the budding field of new tunings, temperaments, and microtonality. The
competition welcomes new works of recorded music which reflect the potential
of using tunings systems and temperaments other than 12-tone equal
temperament.

First prize is $500.00 (USD); we will also recognize 2nd prize ($250) and

UnTwelve is pleased to offer its third annual competition for composers in the budding field of new tunings, temperaments, and microtonality. Three monetary prizes are being offered ($500, $250, $150) for new works of recorded music which reflect the potential of using tunings systems and temperaments other than 12-tone equal temperament. In partnership with Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Minneapolis, MN, the American Composers Forum is pleased to announce an international competition to select a composer who will be commissioned to set the Magnificat text for use in a liturgical or concert setting.

The intent of this program is to enrich and strengthen the repertoire of sacred choral music by encouraging composers to create music specific to that genre.

Composers of all ages and nationalities are eligible to apply. The composer selected for this project will receive a commission in the amount of $2,500.00.
