We have had some pretty cool ideas come through our club since we started this quarter.  Many of our members and officers will be solidifying those ideas at our Pitch Night tonight at 6pm!  If you are interested in joining a team, tonight is your chance to see some of the ideas that are going to be made into actual games.  Better yet, if you have an idea you want to show off, just contact us at officers@cpgd.org so we can put you in the schedule!

We had an amazing turnout for our first meeting. Over fifty interested students joined us for fun activities, discussions, and otter pops! Despite the heat, the participants stuck it out until the end!

1. Meeting Time: Put your availability into DOODLE so we can decide on a good meeting time.
2. Raffle: Members who join us for meetings or activities will receive raffle tickets (achievements) that will take part in our raffles throughout the year.
3. CWS: Chris, a representative for an independent game company called CWS talked about work opportunities. For more information, contact him at topagae@gmail.com.
4. Game Dev Opportunity: Eric Fong is looking for students interested in working on a month-long game project starting in october. For more information contact him at emfong@calpoly.edu
5. Facebook: We have a new facebook page here: www.cpgd.org/fb (small redirect link.) Events will be posted on our FB page so we have an idea of how many students to expect, so we encourage you to join!

We had a great turnout on Sunday (September 19th.) A great amount of interest was shown, and over 99 people signed up for our newsletter! Below are a few photos taken during the club showcase.

During an officer meeting last night, we managed to hash out the first seven weeks worth of activities and talks.  No specific dates, times or locations are known yet (especially since we will be getting membership availability at the beginning of the quarter) and may be subject to change.  For now, only the basics are known.  If you have any questions, comments or ideas, please forward them to one of our community officers Andrew Chan or Tim Adam.

Here is the tentative schedule separated by week:

• Week of Welcome (Week 0): Block party booth
• Week 1: Advertisement at freshmen courses
• Week 2: Intro meeting.  Ice breaker and game idea brainstorming.
• Week 3: Talk on the typical game design pitch
• Week 4: Game Pitches given by officers and members
• Week 5: “Fun Factor” talk.  Learn what makes games fun!
• Week 6: Game Design Boot Camp!
• Week 7: First Open Lab (more information later)

More information will follow as we set things up.  Feel free to contact one of our community liaisons if you wish to volunteer your time to help set up some of these events, as we will be very busy over the next three months and would welcome the help!
