Phenomenal.

Shoe designer calls the lace tag a “doobrie” – kind of like a “thingy” and it morphs into a more sophisticated Deubré. At least that’s how Wikipedia tells it.

We were all sitting in the lounge, like any evening. Sandra and I were watching some nondescript documentary and the kids were playing with their lego. The moment stole up on us. Paul was first to notice the unusual glow coming from Happylife. It continued to brighten – a gradual, barely conspicuous build up of intensity until we had to look away.

Proving that it was years ahead of its time, Apple had the good sense to put a cat in this Ad from 1981. Everyone thinks that Apple’s success stems from more recent activity. But I’d be willing to bet that it can all be tracked back to their visionary, pre-internet use of cats.

If you stand close to the poster you can almost hear the creatives high fiving each other. Either that or it’s been sitting in someone’s bottom drawer for years just waiting…

Whatever, it’s clever. And it’s a beer ad that’s brave enough to use a mathematical symbol instead of a belch.

Having my mind boggled by Trash Humpers

Trash Humpers is the latest film by Harmony Korine.

The film is being shown at various VHS screenings on old TV sets. I’m not sure if this is the most Barley thing ever, or a moment of brilliant. Maybe I’ll never know.

They say:

TRASH HUMPERS follows a small gang of sinister ‘elderly’ peeping toms through the shadows of a nightmarishly familiar suburban landscape. Their shocking and sociopathic behaviour makes for unbearably compelling viewing that scorches itself onto the mind’s eye.
