I like to think of it as a fun mash-up between the classic granny and a quirky Halloween motif. The square itself works up to about 2 inches, making it just right for mixing and matching with your regular grannies, or for creating statement pieces like coasters, bunting, or even an edgy blanket.

What I love about this design is that it’s approachable even if you’re not a granny square expert yet. The rounds are short, the stitches are familiar, and you get a neat little skull effect without too much fuss. You can keep it classic with white or grey yarn for a traditional “bone” look, or go bold with neon shades for a more playful vibe.

This Halloween beanie knitting pattern is designed with bold seasonal colors and simple stitches so you can whip one up before the trick-or-treaters even hit the streets.
Think stripes of candy corn, classic black with a pumpkin-orange brim, or even a moody purple base with a neon green pom-pom. This project is beginner-friendly, works up quickly in worsted yarn, and comes in multiple sizes so you can knit one for every ghoul in the family.

Worked in an easy knit-and-purl design, the black cat appears almost like a shadow when finished — making it as delightful to display as it is to use. This dishcloth is a quick knit that works up beautifully with cotton yarn and makes a sweet handmade gift.

This cheerful wind chime is made entirely from recycled materials and is a great weekend craft for kids or adults who don’t mind a little drilling and dangling.

It’s lightweight, colorful, and makes the gentlest rattle in the breeze—just enough to say “I’m here, and I used to be landfill.”

Hang it from a tree, your patio, or even on the fence by the veggie garden. Bonus points if you match lid colors to your outdoor decor!

Whether you’ve just come back from a family beach trip or you’re looking to use up that bag of shells collecting dust on the windowsill (guilty!), this Seashell Fish Craft is a joyful little project that’s as fun for grown-ups as it is for kids.

I actually made these with my teens during a rainy afternoon at the holiday unit—proving that you’re never too old to play with glue and paint. They now hang in our laundry room like a little seaside parade. It’s easy, colorful, and a brilliant way to turn nature’s leftovers into playful décor or handmade gifts.

That was me last weekend. Hidden behind old paint cans and forgotten soccer balls was this beautiful, rusted bike wheel—weathered, worn, and full of memories. It once belonged to my son's first real bike, the one he rode (wobbly and proud) down our cul-de-sac. Cue the mum tears.
Instead of tossing it, I decided to turn it into something special—a fall wreath that celebrates the season and a sweet little slice of our family history.

Unlike flat paintings, it reaches out and catches the light, adding texture, depth, and a whole lot of personality to your walls. One of my favourite ways to achieve this look at home is with a humble bag of plaster compound (also known as joint compound or spackle). It’s inexpensive, easy to work with, and—best of all—it opens the door to endless creativity.
This little tutorial will walk you through creating dimensional art using plaster compound, including a sweet (and slightly spooky) ghost painting you can whip up for Halloween or any time you want a playful touch.
