I've had similar problems, repeatedly. I can't comprehend how they think it is reasonable to demand typically print-oriented items for the application of any job in the web industry. We are not the same. I have never and will never state (on a Word doc CV or otherwise) that I am a 'graphic designer' or 'print designer'. In fact I rarely refer to myself as a 'designer' as it is too often misinterpreted. I am a web designer with front-end development capabilities (HTML & CSS are glorious but don't throw PHP at me because I'll cry). The idea that we have to upload any document in 2013 is madness. As a web designer I should be able to express my 'CV' in a web-based format. What is the point in applying online if I can't utilise digital methods of communication.

Don't even get me started on them copying and pasting my information into their own (fuck knows what it looks like) document for presentation to the client.

Thank you for pushing back on one of these recruiters to show how utterly ignorant they can be.
