The library has a new technology librarian! Joanne Dera has taken over as our new Systems Administrator. She is graduating later this month with an MLiS (Master’s of Library and Information Science) degree from Rutgers University.

Working as a librarian will be the start of a second career for Joanne. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering, she worked as a project engineer for ten years. With two children, the travel demands of her previous job were difficult so she decided to embark on a new career path.

Fortunately for us, technology is very much an interest for Joanne. While at Rutgers, she pursued field experience, teaching technology and literacy skills to high school students. I am confident she will provide top-quality technology assistance to our library patrons, as well. Please stop by to meet Joanne and welcome her to Cranbury.

A new foreign film called “A Royal Affair” is now available . It is a true story set in the 1700′s in Denmark. It was a period in history when the Danish people were oppressed and struggling for survival. For political reasons a marriage is arranged between a young British Princess named Caroline Mathilda and the Danish King Christian VII. She quickly realizes he is insane and that she is doomed. In time she meets the Kings physician Struensee and a love affair begins. Struensee has strong political ideas and he sees an opportunity to help the common man . Together they temporarily change the course of history. This movie has it all. From forbidden love to suspense, and intrigue. It is well worth watching.
