Wordpress.com Was Down For About 2 Hours

Today Wordpress.com was down for about 2 hours. This affected about 10.2 million blogs and deprived those blogs from 5.5 million page views.This downtime was faced by normal, Vip and premium blogs. This news came up when a tweet came up which was confirmed by wordpress.com that Wordpress.com was down.

What Happened

The cause of this severe downtime appears to be an unscheduled change to a core router by one of our datacenter providers messed up our network in a way we haven’t experienced before, and broke the site. It also broke all the mechanisms for failover between locations of Wordpress in San Antonio and Chicago. All of people's data was safe and secure, they just couldn’t serve it.

[UPDATE]: Wordpress CEO Matt Mullenweg posted an update on WP’s Twitter account that reads: “We’re investigating the source & most expedient fix. I hope to have everyone’s blogs back & running as soon as possible.”
[UPDATE]: Wordpress.com is back up. Matt Mullenweg’s tweet reports “We are back running at full capacity now. Closely monitoring services for any aftershocks.”

Warez sites are those which provide download links of numerous softwares, movies, albums, etc. These websites use services like Rapidshare, Megaupload to share these files. But if you are thinking to start a Warez site then think twice.

Filmowisko hosted 30,000 members, but didn’t actually host any of the files containing illegal material. Warez websites use services like Rapidshare and Megaupload and just link people to the files. Filmowisko, a warez site, was ran by a 21 technology student, a 16, and a 17 year old. Police raided the house last Friday night and recovered 6 computers and 150 DVDs and CDs with copyrighted material.

Outlook Will Integrated Facebook And Myspace

Microsoft is going to add some new social networking features because of its new partnership with Facebook , Linkedin and Myspace. Last year in November Microsoft rolled out "Outlook Social Connector" a new Office 2010 feature that hooks up social feeds into the Outlook inbox. Likedin was the only associated site , whose business connections, alerts, and messages would integrate directly with Outlook.

Sometime in the next few months, users will be able to check up on their MySpace friends, update their Facebook status, and browse through photos. Its not clear what we will be able to do actually. I think Microsoft is doing this to create competition for Google Buzz.

Now Preview Apple Applications In Your Browser

Apple has recently activated a new feature which lets you preview iPhone applications in your browser. This feature was previously available only for iTunes, but Apple activated the iTunes Preview feature for iPhone / iPod Touch applications in addition.

On opening an iPhone application page you will see a well defined page with the app logo, price, description, screenshots, rating, reviews and more in a new window or tab.

This is a logical move for Apple to make: the prior way links to iPhone apps were handled wasn’t particularly user-friendly. You still get the option to confirm that you want to open iTunes or do nothing when you click a link to download or purchase apps, but at least now you’ll also get a nice overview of what an app is all about and how other users are liking it.

Access To Twitter Will Be Restricted In Mexico

We all know that Facebook and IMDb are banned in China, but soon Twitter will be restricted in Mexico. A plan is drafted by republican and PDR member Nazario Norberto hopes to restrict Twitter usage in an attempt to cut down on crime.

Norberto believes that restricting to access to Twitter will help reduce crime as Twitter is used for sharing the location of drunk driving checkpoints set up by police in Mexico City and also by drug cartels.

Like many nations, Mexico is concerned that the speed of information sharing across these social networks is helping fuel criminals who are staying once step ahead of the police forces. The recent revenge attack on a Marine, part of a team responsible for killing one of Mexico’s most wanted drug lords, was linked to Facebook due to the speed of attack and detail of the location.

Apple recently launched its new Gadget iPad with was much awaited gadget of the year. But it failed to satisfy the expectations of its lovers. iPad doesn’t have a camera and this is one of the major drawbacks that made Apple fan boys and fan girls think twice before purchasing the slim and gorgeous tablet.

But you must have read articles on new avatar of iPad which will have a camera. This seems to be true as Ryan from Mission Repair posted some images of the iPad's outer frame, and he tried to place a camera from a Unibody Macbook into the empty space to see if it fits well. And it does! Hooray,the new iPad will have a camera.

Twitter is used by many and its helps bloggers in numerous ways like branding your blog and promoting it. If you are having many blogs and you want separate Twitter for each of them, but you don't want to create many emails ids.

Don't Worry Gmail Will Help In This Case

Gmail has a fabulous feature which can help me in creation of multiple twitter accounts with same gmail email address. let’s take a simple example how gmail has created your multiple addresses while you are thinking that u have only one email id.

My email address : abcdefgh@gmail.com – this was the email which i created when opening the gmail account. But gmail gives me few extra emails as well. Like

a.bcdefgh@gmail.com , ab.cdefgh@gmail.com , abc.defgh@gmail.com , abcd.efgh@gmail.com, abcde.fgh@gmail.com , abcdef.gh@gmail.com , abcdefg.h@gmail.com .

If you haven’t noticed .. there is a full stop or dot in different positions for all the consecutive emails above. If you send a email to any of the addresses wrriten above, they all will reach me for sure.

But twitter reads all these emails differently and it will allow you to make the accounts with each and everyone.

So from this simple technique I can open 8 twitter accounts & all will be attached to my same email id i.e abcdefgh@gmail.com

Some of you might be thinking it can also be done with other email addresses but I personally use gmail and I like to use only one account for saving my time to log into different mail accounts.
