Website copy-writing is one of the most powerful elements of marketing on any type of website. Regardless of the reason for building a website, some form of copy will be required as this will give your visitors a fair idea of what your site is about. Just like other forms of writing, website copy-writing is an art that requires perfection if you want to gain maximum benefits from your site. There are a couple of techniques you need to know and implement before you can write compelling copy that will move audiences and get them to appreciate your site. Here are some of the most vital secrets you need to write great copy for websites if you don’t have enough money to hire an expert.

Outsourcing Website Copy-writing
There are tons of website copy-writing experts all over the web who are always on hand to offer their services for a fee. If you don’t have the time or expertise then all you have to do is to hire these professionals to create excellent copy for your sites. You can find expert copywriters on renowned websites such as Craigslist as well as Odesk, Freelancer, Fiverr, Elance etc.

Writing Effective Website Copy on Your Own
One of the most important aspects of copywriting is to conduct detailed research before writing on any subject. Unless you are an expert on a particular topic, it’s critical that you find out detailed information before writing any content for your website. Keywords are the fundamental elements of website copy and no matter the niche your site is operating in, it will be relevant to incorporate some core words that visitors will identify with your website. Critical research is necessary to identify these winner keywords and it’s vital that you leave no stone unturned to uncover them.
The use of attention-grabbing titles and headlines are extremely important when writing website copy. Keep in mind that visitors that land on your Web pages will initially be attracted to your headlines/titles. Their decision on whether to spend more time on those pages will be determined by how compelling and interesting your titles and headlines sound. It’s also important to create titles which are short so visitors don’t get discouraged from reading them.
The first paragraphs are probably the most important in website copy-writing as many visitors are known for just skimming through this part of articles to determine whether they are interesting enough to read or not. Hence, saving the best for the last just doesn’t work when creating copy for your site. It’s also important to keep your sentences short and blunt so that your visitors can easily interpret their meanings.

Another important technique in creating successful website copy is to be as informal as possible. It’s true that you may want to portray your business as extremely professional because many clients look out for that quality. However, being extremely formal when writing copy for your website will fail to pique the interest of your visitors and this will make it almost impossible to get them to take the required actions that will benefit your business. This is why you should always use an engaging and informal tone in website copy-writing.
Everyone loves to be guided and your website visitors are not different. This is why you should try to tell them which actions and when to take them through your copy. Whether you want them to sign up for a service or download a freebie, your visitors will be clueless unless you direct them.
The use of subtitles is another effective technique that can help you generate the maximum response from your website copy. Majority of website users have short attention spans hence no one will spend hours reading long lines of text on your website. Bullet points and subtitles can solve this problem by shortening multiple lines of text while maintaining important details.

Website design is continuously evolving and with each passing day, new ones are being built with increased levels of functionality and sophistication. Many individuals and businesses are not just looking for great looking sites but those that can incorporate certain functionality to meet the needs of visitors as well. In fact, many web businesses believe the functionality of their websites is even more critical than those of their executives. HTML and CSS have been at the forefront of exceptional web design for many years. However, with the advancement of technology, web developers came to appreciate the fact that older versions of these languages fell short of the sophisticated functionality and design required in modern websites. This led to the development of HTML 5 and CSS 3 to build on the capabilities of earlier versions. The blend of these two sophisticated languages leads to an unlimited ability to develop sophisticated websites in terms of design and capabilities.

What You Should Know About HTML 5
Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) (HTML) has always been the most popular programming code for the development of websites. However, the capabilities of earlier versions were restricted to basic areas of website design such as headings, titles and body. Over time, web users have become more sophisticated and have outgrown basic websites. HTML 5 was created with the aim of empowering designers to build websites which are extremely user-friendly and interactive. The latest version of the programming code also makes it easy to implement rich multimedia elements such as images, audios and videos. Another great feature of the language is that it enhances easy storage of data. Coupled with innovative user-interfaces, web users are having a great time with HTML5-built websites.

CSS3 Facts
CSS3 is the third generation of the popular web design language known as Cascading Style sheets. This language is mainly linked with the structure of websites when accessed in Web browsers. Some of the areas which CSS3 deals with include the general appearance of websites as well as specific areas such as fonts, backgrounds, colors, styles, etc. Older versions of CSS3 worked perfectly at the time because websites were built with basic functionality. The new enhancements in the website building industry made it necessary for an improved version of the language to be developed and thankfully, CSS3 works perfectly in enhancing the appeal and interactivity levels of sites.

Fusing HTML5 and CSS3 to Achieve Perfect Website Designs
Even though HTML 5 and CSS3 are standalone programming codes, some of the best web designers in the world have fallen in love with the fusion of both of them in sites for their clients. What are the benefits of blending the two languages in the design of websites? Firstly, websites designed with HTML 5 and CSS 3 have been found to have the most stunning visual effects. No matter the type of design you are looking to portray on your site, they can be effectively achieved when these two languages are brought together. Custom fonts are becoming popular with many websites and combining the two languages also makes it easy to create them.
HTML5 and CSS 3 comes with a wide array of internet sockets which makes it easy for information to be transferred onto the web. This is an improvement over other programming codes which are a nightmare when it comes to communicating or transferring data onto the Web. Data stored on websites developed with the two languages are also easy to access compared to others.
There is a wide range of plugins currently available on the market which easily enhances the functionality of websites built with HTML5 and CSS3. Videos, audios, images and other engaging elements are effectively incorporated into these websites to make them more engaging and interactive for users. No wonder some of the most talented web designers in the world have fallen in love with HTML 5 and CSS 3.

CSSA: Please tell us a little bit about yourself: who are you, where do you come from and where are you going?

First of all thank you for the opportunity you gave us to tell our story on your important channel, a channel that is well known and followed by lovers of the web.

Awd Agency is an Italian agency of marketing and communication specialized on management of strategic, creative and productive processes connected to a joint project of communication, brand identity, web design and web marketing. We started in 2005 as designers and later on we specialized in communication and web, gaining a lot of results at a national and an international level.

We aim at working through and for an emotional design, that is to say a minimalist design whose main aspect is the emotional one, the feelings between the object and the users. A functional design that looks out for new trends, changes and new visual forms of communication leaving space to our personal freedom and research and at the same time without forgetting our strategic goals.

CSSA: What did you do before becoming a designer / developer?

Before opening our agency, we were all students at the University. We started thinking of doing something before our parents would chased away from home! Everything begun as a joke at one of my friend’s house and now we’re working in a 300 sqm open space.

CSSA: In your opinion, which is the future of the Web? (HTML5, Responsive Design, Flash, Mobile…)

Web future is very complex, users are updated and they require a modern an sophisticated technology. Computers were replaced by smartphones, tablets and connected TVs.

CSSA: Where do you turn for inspiration?

We don’t have a source of inspiration, we just surf the net and make research not only among websites and fonts but also among videos and images that can give us a good idea for starting a new project.

CSSA: Which are your favorite studios, designers or agencies?

By far our top 5 is : 2 Advanced, Ultranoir, First born, North kingdom, Group 94.

CSSA: Tell us about a unique story or funny anecdote related to your work.

The most amazing and funny request we received was to build a web site for escorts and strippers. They offered us to make a sort of exchange…but unfortunately we didn’t come to an agreement!

CSSA: Which are you for: Mac or PC?

We love nature so apple above all, Mac! Reliable, simple, fast, stable, efficient. Is there something else?

CSSA: Which is your favorite software?

We don’t have a favourite one, every software has its own function and it’s necessary for building a new project. More in general we love all Adobe suite’s programs.

CSSA: Which city do you live in? Is it a good place for designers?

Our agency is located in a wonderful town on the Marche coast, Porto Sant’Elpidio. It’s a small town, 25.000 inhabitants and the main activity is represented by shoes factory. We managed to find our space here but it’s not so easy; the market it’s not so reactive as in other Italian, European and international cities but we couldn’t do without our sea!

CSSA: Which technologies are you excited about?

We’re Geek, so we eat and we’re interesting in every form of technology and innovation. We love buying, testing and selling back everything new in this field, from smartphones to tablets, from TVs to audio, video, gardening and barbecue. We’re creative also in kitchen.

CSSA: Tell us about your latest project.

Our last project was the website of the international showgirl Natasha Stefanenko. We worked on that project for a few months and it was very appreciated by experts of that field, we really got real gratification from this project. Natasha is very nice and we’re proud of being chosen for advertising her image on the web and on social networks, telling her carrier and her life. Let’s have a look at www.natashastefanenko.com

jQuery is one of the most innovative programming languages ever to be released into the technological world. As a spin-off of the renowned Javascript language, the main use of jQuery is to aid in the development of interaction elements and effects on websites and other computer application.
jQuery is an extremely young programming language, having just been released at the beginning of 2006. However, its high level of flexibility and intuition has soared its popularity and experts believe it will only become much more renowned in the coming years.
Why did Programmers find the Need to develop jQuery?

Javascript is widely regarded as one of the finest programming languages up to date. So why did programmers find the need to develop jQuery? Well, it’s true that Javascript can be used to develop stunning web applications with world class functionality. However, one of its main problems was the long lines of code needed to be written to achieve one goal or another. Therefore the developers behind Javascript found the need to create a new programming language that could achieve the capabilities of Javascript while utilizing much shorter lines of coding. This gave birth to the release of jQuery which requires considerable less coding to build the same applications available in Javascript. Some of the most popular enhancements in jQuery include animations, drop down menus, drag and drop functionalities, etc. These enhancements aid in empowering web applications with the necessary tools to interact with users, leading to excellent user-experience levels. With the increasing popularity of touchscreen mobile gadgets, jQuery Mobile can also come in handy for the development of interactive mobile websites and other applications.

How do you Start Using jQuery?
It’s extremely simple to start using jQuery and all you have to do is to log onto the official website of the programming language, where you can download an array of scripts to install on your server. These scripts come with functionality that can aid you in minimizing the size of files while quickening the creation of scripts with reduced lines of code.

Benefits of using jQuery
Firstly, jQuery is an open source programming language and that effectively means that it costs absolutely nothing to download libraries, plugins and other applications for use. jQuery also comes with advanced capabilities just like its parent language, Javascript. The development of animations is one of the main benefits of the jQuery programming language and options include sliding as well as fading results. If you are looking to create a slideshow of images or pictures, jQuery can help create them quickly and seamlessly.
Another advantage of jQuery is the fact that all manner of dropdowns can be created through the implementation of a single script and they can be blended with animations to create stunning features. Using jQuery also gives you the advantage to initiate queries from MySQL database as many times as possible from the same page.
Are you looking for form validation features on your website or Web application? jQuery can be used to create them effortlessly. Applications built with jQuery come with excellent levels of speed which results in impressive user experience levels.

Popular jQuery Websites
Well some of the most popular websites in the world currently were developed with jQuery.
Facebook , Twitter and many other social networking websites are examples of sites powered by the innovative programming language. The high level of interactivity as well as flexibility available to users of these sites is gained from the power of jQuery.

Font rendering has become one of the most discussed topics on the internet in the last couple of years. Gone are the days when there was no real freedom with respect to the nature of fonts websites could display to their visitors. As a website owner, it’s important to know that different browsers and operating systems will be used to log onto your site or blog by your target audience. This is why it’s important to be sufficiently informed about fonts so that you can choose ones that will be readable and eye-pleasing no matter the platform used to access your website.

A few years ago, many website developers were restricted to the use of a few web fonts which were regarded as “safe” due to their easy adaptability on a wide variety of screens. Therefore, many website owners were forced to utilize this handful of fonts in order to enhance the user experience of their visitors. However, the fact that these safe fonts were basically the same meant that sites which used them were restricted in terms of being able to express themselves.

So what is font rendering? This is the process of transforming various font designs into pixels that can be easily interpreted on a screen. This makes text easier to read regardless of its design and structure. Some of the procedures used in addition to traditional font rendering include anti-aliasing and hinting.

Types of Font Rendering

There are so many types of font rendering techniques and rasterization is one of the most prominent ones. Rasterization is the technique used to display texts in majority of browsers currently on the market.

Black and White rendering is one of the oldest methods of displaying text. Majority of printers use this method to display crystal clear texts and images of excellent resolution. Grayscale rendering is another method through which texts have been displayed over the years by different operating systems. Even though most operating systems in the latter stages of the 20th century came with low resolutions, they influenced the brightness of texts displayed and this made rasterized images clearer. Grayscale rendering works by transforming the pixels into gray which makes its appearance clearer and more defined.

Subpixel rendering is the latest method used to render texts and images. It is an innovative font rendering technology that has transformed color displays on LCD and LED screens. This technology exploits the separate color subpixels of LCD computer screens (red, green and blue) through a procedure known as anti-aliasing to improve the resolution of images and texts. Sub-pixel rendering is currently the best type of font rendering which achieves crisp, high resolution images and texts on LCD screens.

How Front Rendering is Applied to Windows Operating Systems

Different operating systems such as Windows and Mac OS X utilize different techniques to render their typefaces and these techniques are constantly being updated to reflect technological advancements in the web font industry. For quality display of text on any operating system, all rendering ingredients should be applied. Omitting a single ingredient can lead to blurry and unreadable texts.

There are two main types of font platforms on the Microsoft Windows operating system namely, PostScript and TrueType. The type of platform used to develop a font influences its rendering and not how it’s displayed in different browsers. This therefore means that fonts developed on the same platform utilize similar rendering techniques and vice versa.

Font Rendering on Apple’s Mac OS

The procedure behind font rendering on computers powered by the Mac OS is different from Windows-based windows. Hinting, which is very influential on Windows is completely forgone on Mac gadgets and this means that fonts built on the TrueType and PostScripts platforms are rendered in the same way. Mac OS has an excellent subpixel rendering system and the fact that fonts are made up of dark pixels means that the rasterizer ignores the core components of fonts. The Mac’s Quartz rendering system is exceptional and positively impacts on the quality of fonts displayed on screens.

Adobe Typekit

This is a world-class service that has revolutionized font display on the Web. It has a huge collection of excellent fonts and tons of font faces that can be adapted into any website by just adding a few lines of code.

Here are 4 new Apps that, if you are a web designer, will save you time, energy and stress. Click on one or all of them and take a look.

Jump Desktop – Control your computer, control your life

Have you ever been half-way to the office when you realize that you forgot a file on your home PC? With Jump Desktop you can get that info or access that file from anywhere, using practically any device. Jump Desktop is a full featured RDP and VNC client and can connect to existing RDP and VNC servers using just an IP address or host name. That’s convenient, powerful and a major time and stress saver. The only problem I can see is that you need Gmail to run a lot of it and there are a lot of folks who hate Gmail.

Top Feature – Use your Gmail account from virtually any device.

Dropbox – The easiest way to share files across every device you own

You know the deal- When you have a file on your PC that you need on your laptop, you send it to yourself in an email. You do the same thing with pics, docs and anything else. With Dropbox, any files you make on one computer are automatically sent to all your devices, even between Macs and PCs! And when you update a file, Dropbox updates it on all your devices too. One caveat; be careful what you put in Dropbox so that you don’t shock your grandma with those naughty pics.

Top Feature – Dropbox keeps your files on-line too, for easy access anywhere.

DigMyData – The info you need to track the important facts and figures of your websites

If you sell anything on-line then you know that there are dozens of data streams that you need to follow in order to get the best results. Where are the hits coming from, who’s buying, which promotions are working, etc. DigMyData puts all of that data into an easy to use, easy to see graphic that will keep you abreast of what’s working and what’s not, and help you to make more sales. It has a learning curve, to be sure, but if you have multiple affiliate website it could be a lifesaver.

Top Feature – Follow all of your data from one well put together graphic.

5 Minutes – Basic Websites quickly and easily

The Web moves at lightning fast speed and sometimes it’s hard to keep up. 5 Minutes knows this, and offers something that no other web service does- A fully functional Website in 5 Minutes or Less. They actually guarantee that, in less than 5 minutes, you can register the domain of your choice, pick a template, set up email, register on social networks, get secured backups and be up and running. Payment pages and other, higher-end items are not included in the basic website however and do cost extra.

Top Feature – When you sign up you get a free domain name.

WordPress continues to be one of the most popular content management systems on the planet. Even though it started off as a platform solely for blogging, it has evolved substantially over the last couple of years. Thanks to the ever increasing number of plugins, any type of website can now be built on the platform with impressive features.

So what is a WordPress plugin? This is a software application that enhances the ability of a WordPress-based website to provide advanced functionality for users. When the WordPress platform was first introduced in 2003, many critics labeled it a flop simply because it came with basic functionality. Individuals and businesses that wanted to build attractive and innovative websites simply opted for platforms such as Java as a result of their relatively superior functionality back then. In a bid to compete favorably with other content management systems, WordPress developers introduced plugins into the market. Plugins give unlimited functionality to WordPress-based websites and this has given corporate bodies and individuals the confidence to build their websites on the platform. No wonder WordPress is currently one of the fastest growing Content Management Systems today.

Types of WordPress Plugins

WordPress has become an extremely flexible content management system thanks to the thousands of plugins available on the market. No matter the kind of functionality you desire for your website or blog, you can be sure of a plugin that is currently dedicated to it on the market. Everyone wants a site or blog that will attract tons of traffic and this can only be achieved when your visitors gain excellent user experience upon landing on your site. Whether you are looking for an application that improves the speed of your site or simply require a script that gets rid of unavailable links on your blog, you can find a suitable WordPress plugin that will beat your expectations. Many developers and webmasters have also gone ahead to develop their own plugins to achieve certain functionality for their website. This is possible due to the open source nature of the WordPress platform, which allows individuals to make any tweaks they want to the original structure of the popular website builder without any restrictions.

Paid or Free Plugins?

There are thousands of WordPress plugins on the market and each of them comes with its own structure and functionality. Whenever you are on the market for complex applications for your website, it’s important to check the WordPress marketplace to find out if there are any ones that match your needs. It’s not uncommon to come across multiple plugins when looking for certain functionality for your blog or site. Keep in mind that while majority of WordPress plugins are free, there are many others available to download for a fee. It will therefore be up to you to decide whether you want to use the free or paid route. It’s always a good idea to research well before settling on one plugin or another. If you are clueless about how to do this, just check out a couple of websites and forums dedicated to WordPress and you will be amazed at the number of helpful recommendations you will receive.

Building Custom WordPress Plugins

Many bloggers have chosen to build custom plugins for their websites and are reaping numerous benefits from that. WordPress is strictly an open source platform which means everyone can make required changes at his or her own will. Even if you have no programming language knowledge, you can simply come up with a list of desired functionality and hire a developer to build a plugin for you. Custom plugins can be a great way of incorporating innovative ideas into your website or blog to make it stand out among its peers. You can also decide to offer your plugin on the WordPress marketplace for sale once it’s completed and thoroughly tested.

Whether you have an e-commerce website or a simple blog, it’s important to give your visitors the best possible surfing experience. Have you heard about responsive web design? Well, this is a method of building web pages with high levels of flexibility to ensure that they load seamlessly when accessed with any type of browser or device. This effectively gives internet users the ability to gain a similar level of experience regardless of the type of device being used to access your website. Skeleton, Gridless, Adobe Device Central CS5.5 and FitText is some of the most popular applications that can be effectively implemented to achieve responsive web design.

What Prompted the Invention of Responsive Web Design Techniques?
When the internet was first introduced, many people accessed the web with their large screen desktop computers. Since this was the only form of gadget used for surfing the web, all you had to do was to build a site that loaded well on desktops and you were good to go. Innovative technological advancements led to the production of laptop computers which became very popular all over the world. Over time, netbooks, smartphones, tablet computers and e-readers were introduced onto the market and millions of people quickly adapted to the use of these gadgets to log onto the internet due to their portability. However, web users who used mobile gadgets came to realize that they struggled to experience the same level of intuition offered by many websites. This is simply because these sites were built to suit desktop and laptop screen sizes. Some of the issues encountered included unreadable texts, blurred pictures and nightmarish navigation systems on the same sites that loaded perfectly well when accessed with laptop and desktops. Most of these sites also loaded very slowly when accessed with mobile gadgets while others failed to load at all.
In order to solve this issue, many firms and businesses responded by building multiple versions of their websites to account for the individual needs of their target audience. However, this solution has already backfired since new types of mobile devices are being introduced on the market every day. These devices come with custom browsers as well as a wide range of screen types and resolution sizes. Different mobile devices are also being built with different operating systems ranging from Android to iOS as well as Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, etc. This makes it virtually impossible for businesses to build sites that meet the browsing platforms of all prospective clients, leading to substantial losses in website traffic and eventually sales.

Characteristics of Responsive Web Design
Media queries are the fundamental techniques behind responsive web design concepts and it incorporates a wide range of layouts and grids which are extremely adaptable. Media queries are commands inherent in the CSS 3 programming language and works by detecting the size of the user’s screen as well as the operating system running the browser. It then processes this information to give users crystal clear and well-laid out websites that fits the screen of their gadgets perfectly. This enhances their user experience to rival those being enjoyed by laptop and desktop users.

Benefits of Responsive Web Design
A substantial number of internet users all over the world use smartphones and tablets to access the internet. E-readers such as the
Amazon Kindle, are becoming popular gadgets for surfing the web. Each of these users expects to see professional pages, excellent navigational systems, readable texts and crystal clear pictures when they visit any site. Most of your target audience will promptly leave your site if they are unhappy with its appearance on their gadgets. Responsive web design techniques give you the chance to provide excellent web pages to every user regardless of the platform or device used. As a result, your site visitors will get to see and appreciate everything your website or blog has to offer. This will make it easier for them to trust in you which can be priceless in these tough economic circumstances.
A possible method through which you may be able to cater for the needs of all your web visitors without using responsive web design is to build different websites for variable gadgets used by your prospective clients. However, with new mobile products powered with web browsers being introduced onto the market regularly, there is no way you will be able to keep track of all of them. Running different websites for your business will no doubt be expensive as you will have to spend a lot of money on their initial design. Regular maintenance of these sites as well as the extra web servers utilized will also cost you a fortune. Using this method will require the use of multiple URLs which will definitely cause problems for your visitors as they will have issues remembering them every time. Eventually, majority of them will just look elsewhere for the sake of convenience.
Responsive web design makes it more convenient to make changes to your website. If you are running multiple websites for your business just to accommodate the different types of devices used by your target audience, then you will have a huge problem making even minimal changes. This can be real cumbersome and can lead to a waste of precious time which could have been invested into other areas of your business to enhance productivity and improve profits. Imagine the number of hours you will have to invest into changing a line of text on multiple websites!
Another important benefit of responsive web design is the fact that it enhances your reputation among your target audience. Even though mobile devices are continually being used as gadgets of choice among web users, many online businesses are yet to build websites to suit these needs. Implementing responsive web design techniques for your blog or website will enhance your image as a serious business or brand. Web users are continually being selective as to the kind of businesses they deal with. Everyone wants to purchase products from a reputable business so having an adaptive website can therefore be exploited to gain a competitive advantage over your rivals. You will be amazed at how this will impact on your sales and profits margins.

This is done using ‘media queries’- a type of CSS3 programming command that enables a website to automatically discover what type of device and resolution size a visitor is using. The content that appears on the user’s screen can then be adjusted accordingly to provide the best possible user experience. And providing the best possible user experience should be a top priority for any company with an online presence.
According to the experts the responsive web design used the flexible layouts, fluid grids and media queries to make the website exhibited on the screen of the device used of accessing the website. If the responsive web design is not used the website owner has to provide the prospective website visitors with different URLs for different devices used for accessing the website. The best feature of the responsive designing is that the website is designed only once but at the same time formatted to be compatible with different operating systems and platforms.

You can engage in article writing, graphic design and other jobs while simultaneously learning the ropes of internet marketing and other profitable online ventures. This will give you access to regular income to pay your bills in the mean time.

One of the main benefits of engaging in freelance work is the opportunity to spend more time with your family. If you have a spouse or kids, working at home full-time means you will get to spend precious moments together which will help strengthen your bond as a family. This will ultimately lead to a more solid relationship which will make everyone happier.

Research shows that majority of corporate workers spend a couple of hours on the road each day just to attend and return home from work. In order to get to work on time, many of term are deprived of quality sleep which eventually takes a toll on their health. The ability to set your own working hours as a freelancer will give you ample time to rest after a hard day’s work which can improve your productivity.

Freelancing places no limit on your earning potential unlike many 9-5 jobs and therefore you can earn as much as you want. Freelancers have the freedom to charge their own rates for hire and most of them charge by the hour. This gives you an incentive to work harder in order to earn more.

Working as an independent contractor can be extremely rewarding especially if you have great skills. You can easily establish a good name through excellent work over time. Many of your clients will not hesitate to refer you to others when you impress them and this will lead to high work volumes and ultimately, more money for you.
