From a mograph perspective, this was a delight to work on. I spent days trying to balance lighting, luminosity and global illumination settings, and troubleshooting Ambient Occlusion passes, but when it all worked out, it was really nice to see the virtual LED lightbulb really lighting the scene as it does in real life. Hope you guys like it... I do :)

So Staples, one of our clients, wanted to attract some attention to a contest they're running in Canada where they're giving away some computers to schools. There's an environmental aspect too... the winner needs to prove that their school recycles, turns off lights etc... the brief was for a kinetic type animation, but I ended up adding a few extra layers.

Working with Leviathan director and DK alumnus, Matt Daly, we created a 3D projection mapping piece to launch the next generation Dodge Dart. The set was composed of a series of cubes that would provide an opportunity for moments of graphic alignment in this case transitioning to a cityscape. This registration was then deconstructed once the car started moving. Creating the illusion of speed involved projecting moving reflections and wheels on the car. The stylized cg environments; a night time cityscape, tunnel, suspension bridge and hilly landscape were built to take the viewer on a surreal trompe-l'œil journey.

A dreamy/nightmarish world. An interpretation of the feel of insomniacs' and depressed's dreams. It is said that individuals with depression fall straight into REM sleep where their dreams are characterized by anxiety, stress, fear and sadness among other things. The slow motion and distortion of time stand for stress and lack of control. The standby symbol seen in the video is the subconscious mind trying to inform the dreamer of his unconscious state.

Years ago the idea behind technology was to give people more free time from work and give us a better life. So nowadays, with the possibility for the majority of people to have access to electronics and hi tech, is it true that we have more spare time and a better quality of life? Or have we become addicted to the technology that surrounds us everyday and it has suck us into it? But humans get addicted really easily to a lot of things in life and this video is also a metaphor about addictions in general, about being manipulated without even realizing it or without reacting. PROCESS: This is an audio/visual project where sound and images were developed synchronically from the beginning and where one was guide to the other and vice-versa until final completion. In order to do this, for director Giovanni Bucci was very important to be involved with writing the track together with sound designer/music producer Marco Morano. The team came up with the concept and started researching music and visuals that would suit the mood and atmosphere they wanted for the video, experimenting with sound, graphic styles and techniques. To produce this project many different disciplines and elements were used: green screen, stop motion animation, filming with macro, editing, motion graphics, visual effects, styling, make up, sound design. The Story of O by Tuesday McGowan

This was a concept that I co-wrote and co-directed with Simon Mowbray, a frequent creative partner and ex-Radium founder at Ntropic for Oracle's Open World conference. The story features a daredevil action adventure tale featuring a character named "O". We follow "O" as he skydives, jumps, leaps and overcomes endless obstacles in the treacherous landscape of a world made of data. Oracle software is featured in clever metaphors depicting specific capabilities as "O" makes it to his final destination.

Pepsi Throwback by Tuesday McGowan

I directed this project for TBWA Chiat Day debuting a new formula made with natural sugar called Pepsi Throwback. The piece became a retro blast of 70's culture replete with star trails, video feedback, bubbles, rainbows, flowers and fluttering birds (unicorns were suggested but did not make the cut). Many hours were spent researching the analog techniques of the time to achieve this look. (We even entertained the idea of making a 3/4" dub). In the end, the color correction became a key factor. Here's a tip: add red to the shadows. Also I had to give lessons to our French Canadian model on "Go-Go Dancing 101". Her scenes were shot using the Red.

These Jersey Shore idents were inspired by Maneki Neko's also known as 'Lucky Cats' that we had seen waving in window displays in China Town. This waving motion quickly changed into fist pumping with the help of a little hair gel and club music. We created 3 different spots, Beach, GTL, and Club. We had a lot of fun creating these idents, and hope you enjoy watching them!
