Italian photographer Alessandro Vannucci had the chance to travel to Niger, Africa to capture the life and landscape.

“Niger is an extremely poor Country, even if compared to the African standard. 80% is covered by sand, the Sahara desert. Much of the non-desert areas are threatened by period drought and desertification. The economy is concentrated around subsistence and some export agriculture clustered in the more fertile south, and the export of raw materials, especially uranium ore.”

Kona brewing

Whilst researching about the Kona imperial Stout packaging design, which I posted last week, I came across the Kona brewing Co. The Kona brewing Co was started by the father and son team Cameron Healy and Spoon Khalsa. The pair had a dream to create fresh, local island brews made with spirit, passion and quality in Kailua-Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Each vintage style beer label is beautifully designed with a unique characteristic of Hawaii, such as the stand-up paddler on the calm waters of Maunalua bay, in the shadow of Koko Head and Koko crater.

Redesigning the Romanian coat of arms

Some may agree that, when looking at the various coat of arms that are out there, some of them need a serious overhaul. That is exactly what Romanian designer Ste thought of the coat of arms of Romania. Ste took the initiative and redesigned the current version as he thought it should be. Whilst redesigning the coat of arms he discovered that the smaller symbols such as the cow, lion, fish and eagle were nice by themselves and decided to create a few wallpaper patterns out of them.

Year of the dragon – Nike air jordan

Nike created a limited edition Air Jordan packaging design for the Year of The Dragon, in collaboration with British designer Ginger Monkey. Ginger Monkey created the packaging artwork and later on his designs got incorporated into the shoe design, bag, some apparel, and a few more things to come. The design incorporates traditional Chinese inspired art such as the dragons, symbols and the colours red and gold

“I was challenged with creating a system to the design so that it could adapt to different size boxes and be rejigged by the Air Jordan designers. The final box size was yet to be fully determined so I needed to create artwork that could expand in width and height. All the elements therefore had to be individual so they could be shifted around without destroying the overall effect.”
