Twenty-five Years of Contemporary Art in Scotland to be Celebrated in Landmark Nationwide Exhibition

GENERATION will see new and existing work shown at more than 50 venues across the country from June to October 2014. This nationwide programme will be one of the most ambitious celebrations of contemporary art ever held by a single country.

Fiona Hyslop, Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, today unveiled the 2013 Made in Scotland programme. A partnership between the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, the Federation of Scottish Theatre and Creative Scotland, Made in Scotland has received £550,000 funding from the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund.

Today the Festival Council announced the appointment of Fergus Linehan as the Director Designate of the Edinburgh International Festival. The post begins on a part time basis on 1 May 2013 to allow time to plan for his first Festival in 2015. Fergus Linehan will become Festival Director and Chief Executive of the Festival full time from 1 October 2014.

Scottish nominees for Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards

Scottish organisations and artists are among those shortlisted for the Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards, the highest recognition for live classical music in the UK.

The awards, presented in association with BBC Radio 3, are for outstanding achievement in the UK during 2012 and include 13 categories.
