Project 52 – Week 6

This week’s theme is EMOTION. I have all kinds of emotions running through my mind. In fact, I could probably be classified as an emotional person. I cry when I’m sad. I cry when I’m mad. I cry when I laugh. I cry when I’m happy. I cry when the spirit moves me. I cry when I listen to music. I cry when babies get blessed at church. Yup! That’s me.. Emotional. Period. (~~I also turn red during the previously mentioned emotions~~)

So, the question is… how do I capture emotion in a picture. I’ve been thinking about it all week. This morning when I got up it was a dark and gloomy morning. It had rained a little bit over night and the skies were still grey. The baron tree in my back yard had water droplets hanging from the branches. They appeared to be crying.

Let Him Make Things Happen

I just finished another page for my February chapter of my Scrap*Life*Journal binder. Have I said how much I am enjoying this class?

I started off with a piece of Designer cardstock. I think it is October Afternoon. I tore out a sheet from an old book and wrapped it around the page distressing the edges a little bit. I cut out a red flourish with my Silhouette and doodled some vines along the edges then outlined everything with my black pigma pen.

The lettering is outlined with my black pigma pen and colored with Copic markers. All edges are distressed with Distress ink – Vintage Photo.

Surrender Your Heart

This is my first official page that will go in my February section of my Scrap*Life*Journal binder for Twenty-Twelve.

This page has several layers. I doodled, stamped and glued several items. The flowers are stamped with Verve set – Making a Statement; then cut out with a coordinating die cut.

I love this red and aqua color combination… I would love to somehow incorporate it in my kitchen… maybe I’ll paint the green wall red? It’s hard to find the perfect red. I already have all of the fun vintage Pyrex that would go great with the color theme.

I doodled a little bit on the base page then colored with Copic Markers. I stamped a couple of images on the calendar piece and colored with Shimmerz.

The heart is a little pocket with a tag inserted . I wrote a scripture on the tag that works well with the theme.

Catching Up

This weekend I’m catching up on a few pages for my Scrapbook * Life * Journal class…

A couple of weeks ago the assignment was to get a magazine and cut out words and phrases that stand out to me.. Well….. I don’t buy very many magazines so I have none. I asked a friend at work if she had any and she brought me a Good Housekeeping magazine from Feb 2010… I cut out several words and phrases and put them in an envelope.

Last weekend the assignment was to take these words and form sentences using two pages for the binder. I didn’t even realize it until I started forming sentences that most of my words were about Love. Funny, since February just happens to be the month of Love! Here is what I came up with… Nothing fancy.. but kind of fun to create.

Project 52 – Week 5

I am a time manager. I don’t have a lot of time to do what I enjoy so I try to manage my time well. One way to do that is to be organized. It takes very little time to be organized. Once it’s set up… it just happens. Everything is in it’s place (~~most of the time~~) and takes hardly any time to keep it that way.

This week’s project 52 word is Simplicity. . .

When one is organized it makes life a lot more simple. I can do things quickly and do more that I enjoy.

These are the button jars in my craft room… They help finding the perfect color for my project seem simple.

Smoochable

Don’t you just love that name? Smoochable is the name of the new paperback from BoBunny. It’s Valentine’s paper but worked perfect for this Birthday card that I made.

I received a package of fun stamps a couple of days ago from MFT and was really excited to ink one of them up. I picked this one, You’re So Tweet. I love the Pure Innocent Stamps.. I have several on my wish list.

I paper pieced the jumper and colored the image with copic markers.

Bovine Cutie

I discovered a new Digital Stamp Shop. There are a lot of fun images over at Karen’s Doodles. You can also find rubber stamps there.

I found a few that I liked and I couldn’t resist Bovine Cutie…

I colored the image with Copic markers. I added a little bit of stickles and some white marks with a white gel pen.

Perfect Day

Have you ever had a perfect day? What is a perfect day to you? At this time in my life, I think its playing and cuddling with my Grandkids. They’re spending the day with me tomorrow. I can hardly wait.

This stamp is from a new set out of the new CTMH book that is available in February.

It reminds me of the beach! I haven’t been for 3 years. This year I’ll be spending a week on the Oregon Coast.. I can hardly wait! We have a house reserved for September.

Project 52 – week 4

Yay! I’m ahead of schedule! This week’s challenge word is imperfection. What an interesting word that is…. How do I come up with a picture for it?

Last night as I was in the garage painting, I had paint all over my hands, making a mess and the idea came to me.

My hands are not perfect. When I create, my hands get messy. With these hands I create things that hopefully will bring a little joy into someone’s life.

Power Tools

I {Heart} power tools. As most of you know, I paint. Decorative painting, Tole painting, whatever you want to call it, that’s one of my hobbies. I cut most of my own wood so I have a couple of different kinds of saws, sanders etc… It shouldn’t surprise you that I asked for a new DeWalt palm sander for Christmas and Santa delivered. I finally pulled it out of the box today to work on a new project.

I bought the items I needed for this project sometime in November. I needed a little prep done by My Handyman before I could get started. I told him it was no rush because, well… I was just too busy creating things for Christmas. I am Grateful for his help. He finished up for me a couple of weeks ago so now it’s time for me to begin.

The piece of wood is sanded, drilled and ready for paint. I painted the base with Traditional Burnt Umber. I use Americana paints by Decoart. They are my favorite.

The base coat is really the undercoat. It will look much different when finished. You know me and my distressed look! I’m trying to decide if I’ll use blues or green’s….

I guess you’ll find out when it’s done!

This weeks word is Inspiration… You would think that would be an easy word. I thought about it all week. There are so many things that inspire me… but they’re usually Blogs, Pinterest, Books, Nature, etc….

I decided to take a picture of where I make good use of my inspiration. Where else could it be besides my desk in my craft room?

Fast Cars and Freedom

I’ve had this Old Corvette stamp for a few years. It’s from Cornish Heritage Farms which went out of business. They just recently opened back up and now sell digital stamps.

The last couple of cards I’ve made, including this one, I’ve pulled out older papers that I have in my stash. A few months ago I cleaned out my paper closet and gave a lot of papers to my DIL. I need to use the rest of this old stuff. This one is from Cosmo Cricket’s paper packet – Wanted

The stamped image is kind of shadowy. Not super detailed. I colored it in with a watery wash of Twinkling H20’s.

I’ve had this Sparkle Creations stamp for probably over a year and this is the first time I’ve used it. It’s called Cupcake Ruby. Isn’t she cute?

I stamped her on a good heavy cardstock and colored with my Copic markers.

The template is from the VivaLaVerve challenge January Week2.

I finally had a chance to make a couple of cards I will be sharing with you over the next couple of days.

This one is from CTMH set – D1234 – Take Flight. I am great at making pretty girly cards. Not so good at masculine cards. Out of the 100’s of stamp sets that I have… I don’t have many for men so they tend to all look the same.

Project52 – Week 2

We’re at week 2 already and this photo challenge is challenging me. I pretty much have weekends and evenings to come up with a photo. So , I’m pretty sure that it will be a Saturday project.
This weeks word is LIFE. It’s Winter and it’s cold out, even though we haven’t really had any snow to speak of.

(hopefully next week) I spotted this tiny bit of green in my flower beds. It’s holding on to it’s life for as long as it can.

For That Which I Do

Here is another January page for my Scrap*Life*Journal. January’s theme is honesty. How honest are we with our goals? I have so many things I would like to accomplish but some things just never seem to happen. This scripture goes perfectly. Romans 7:15

Did you notice the little birds running along the edge? That is a MS punch that I got for Christmas.

I have all kinds of things going on here. I added a header with words cut out from a magazine and I stamped a flower image on the corner. After I added it to the page, I spritzed the entire page with Sunflower Glimmer Mist. I ripped an old page from a book and attached, stamped some more leaves and flowers and colored them with twinkling H20’s. The tags are a PaperTreyInk die cut. The butterflies are punched from vellum and the edges have stickles on them.

Resolution – Week 1

I’ve never done a photo challenge. Quite a few people I know do them each year. I’ve read several blogs of photographers that do the 365 challenges which seem really overwhelming to take a photo a day. It’s hard for me because I go to work at 6am and don’t have a lot of time each evening to take a picture; especially when there is a theme. A 52 week challenge seems more manageable. 1 photo a week should be ok.

I’ve purchased Photoshop actions from Sara over at My Four Hens for a few years. She is sponsoring the challenge. You can read more about it here… There are no special rules and you can start at any time.

Week 1 is Resolution. I resolve to expand my knowledge. Knowledge is one of Christ’s attributes, and the one I choose to work on this year. How do I do that? By studying..

2012 Adventure

I finally had a little inspiration and made the cover for my 2012 Scrap*Life*Journal class.

I cut the sun out of several papers by My Minds Eye, CTMH, SU and K & Co. I used my Pinking Circles by Spellbinders

I hand wrote all of the lettering using multiple pens. A Zig pen. Prismacolor pen and a sharpie pen.

I created 3 of my handmade paper flowers and spritzed them with Sunflower Glimmer Mist. I cut out the leaves and spritzed them with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist.

The grassy rolling hills are made out of some My Minds Eye paper and CTMH – black. I scraped the edges with my scissors to distress them.

The entire page is made with papers out of old scraps of paper.

I finished up my second page for my Scrap*Life*Journal class… Here it is as a work in progress on my desk.

This page has a few word strips that describes who I am. I stamped a few of the words from the PTI set – Top 10, and I hand doodled a few of my own.

I added one of my handmade paper flowers in the middle. I punched 3-5 scallop circles out of an old book, spritzed with glimmer mist and scrunched together. Once they were dry, I attached them together with an antique brad.

Notice that I had to add buttons? You know me and my buttons! I <3 buttons~!
