Hey everyone,

In this update, we have the results from the last poll and a new screen shot and poll for you for another month.

In the last poll, What Is Your Biggest Fear About SC2? we had the following options and results,

The winner was people’s computers not being able to handle the requirements. A very understandable problem.

From what I’ve heard about SC2, you won’t need the latest and greatest to play it. But it certainly helps .

StarCraft II Battle Report #4

Here is the newest StarCraft II Battle Report (#4), released a few days ago!

This one is a two parter, Protoss vs. Terran. (Approx. 20 Minutes)

What you get to see in this one:

- New Lost Temple map created.
- Hellions harassing the Protoss base over and over.
- Protoss being wrecked by Seige Tanks, then Protoss Stalkers getting their revenge.
- Warp Prism warping in some Zealots to take out a Terran expansion.
- Reapers leaping to the high ground to lay some damage on a Protoss expansion.
- Psi Storm wrecking an army of Terran units.
- Nukes coming down on the Protoss.

Hello all,

We used to have a monthly poll on the site and screen shot of the week. We don’t have enough screen shots being sent in right now, so we’re just doing a poll & screen shot of the month.

You can join the forums and post or PM me a screen shot and you will be credited and have it shown off for the month! Pretty much any screen shot will do, first sent, first posted. And keep it clean!

Website Update

Just wanted to post another small update for the ongoing revamp of the site. A couple of days ago, we finished updating the b.net utilities and mods section of the site. This goes without saying, but the version required in the mod page could be potentially wrong and we are unable to find this information anywhere else. If you see a mod on this list with the wrong version requirement, please let us know on the forums.

More Updates Coming This Week

Hello, I’m Quelex. I’ve been a member of the forums for a long time and am one of the admins working on the site updates.

As Puppet Master has said before, we’re in the middle of deciding what needs to be added, changed, and erased. We are also busy working on pages themselves. The Official Files page and StarEdit utilities page have both been updated today. We will be working on more updates later this week.

Do not consider the work on these pages 100% done. Patience is important as we continue to make changes.

Any suggestions are of course welcome. So if you have anything you want to add into the conversation, get on the forums and let us know.

Site Update Progress

Hello all,

As you can tell, much hasn’t changed around here…. yet. Fear not though! Updates shall be made to the main site either by the end of this week or at the latest the end of next week.

Our top priority right now is to at least get links for any downloadables around here fixed up, then we’ll fix up any links that still have the old school creepcolony look to it by either removing them upright or modifying them to fit the new look. The last thing that’ll need to be done after that is to fix up any other pages that are outdated.

That’s about it for now. We’ll probably do more updates to the site later on, but the updates I’ve listed already have to come first.

Starcraft 2 Beta to Still Take Place This Year

Seeing as how we had that nasty server crash, my post about this topic was deleted.

Anywho, on Friday at Blizzcon, Blizzard did announce that the SC2 beta was to take place this year. When, I couldn’t tell you as Blizzard hasn’t announced this info yet (as far as I know of at least). If I were to take a guess though, I would say that the earliest they would start the beta up is at the beginning of November.

Regardless, this is still great news to hear.

Server Crash :(

Hello everyone,

I’m sure some of you noticed that there was a bit of downtime over this past weekend. Appearantly our servers crashed and were forced to go back to our backup, which caused us to lose around a weeks worth of data on the site. The site is close to getting back to normal though, so no worries.

How’s it goin everyone? This is Wang from the forums. To keep the site clean, I’m using my alternate name – Puppet Master for blog updates on everything starcraft-related!

Anywho, the co-owners of the site (Kinkarso and WarrenW) have been kind enough to let me and the other admins (Reap This Whirlwind and Quelex) to have access to the main site, so we can finally fix it up once and for all!

Zeratul revealed. Again.

This week we depart from the Zerg to take a look at the history of one of the most renowned heroes in the Starcraft universe – the Dark Templar Zeratul.

Once again, Blizzard has declined to release any particularly new information, instead reiterating the storyline from the general point of view of one of the characters. While interesting, the effect is somewhat dulled by the fact that this is the fifth update in which Blizzard has done this and it would be nice to see something new.

What is interesting to note, however, is that unlike in the first game Zeratul may be a unique unit instead of a stronger Dark Templar. In the concept art and in-game, the Dark Templar are depicted much differently from their original appearance. They have a sort of rocky appearance, no mask, and wield a double-bladed energy scythe. However, the picture for the Protoss on the main features page depicts a Dark Templar that appears much as the originals did, lightly armored and wielding a blade of energy that extends from his right arm.

With the concept art shown in the most recent update, is confirmation that this Protoss is indeed Zeratul, meaning he may retain the original Dark Templar design in the second game. Whether or not this will have any mechanical effect on how he plays has yet to be seen.

As stressed in several other updates, Zeratul looks to be one of the major movers in Starcraft II. It is likely that we will see him returning to uncover the mystery of the Zerg/Protoss hybrids he discovered in the secret mission of the first game, although where his role will take him beyond that remains to be seen.
