DAY 1 – NAIROBI – MAASAI MARA

Having been picked up from your hotel after breakfast, depart Nairobi.  Drive to the Masai Mara arriving in time for a late afternoon or early evening game drive, stopping at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint and at Narok town for lunch.  Proceed to Sarova Mara for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2 – MAASAI MARA

Breakfast will be followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve.  You will have a break at the hippo pool for your picnic lunch.  At the Mara you should expect to see three out of the big five; The elephant, lion and buffalo though luck is essential to track the other two that is rhino and leopard which are very shy and elusive.  A wide variety of antelopes and other plains game can be seen.  Scavengers like hyenas and vultures are a common sight as well.  Return to Sarova Mara lodge for dinner and and overnight stay.

DAY 3 – MASAI MARA

After breakfast depart on a morning game drive in this reserve, which is essentially the northern extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.   Lunch at the lodge.  In the afternoon you have a choice of three activities:- a game drive, a nature walk with our Maasai guides; then finally choice to visit a Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle at an extra cost payable directly to the Maasai villagers.  All activities end at the lodge by 6.30 pm where you will retire for the night after dinner at Sarova Mara lodge.

DAY 4 – MAaSAI MARA – NAKURU

Early morning pre-breakfast game drive.  After breakfast depart the Mara region for Nakuru for dinner and overnight at the lodge stopping g for lunch enroute to Nakuru.  Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill hotel.

DAY 5 – LAKE NAKURU- LAKE BARINGO

After breakfast, and bird watching,  a drive to lake Baringo one of the two fresh water lakes along the Great Rift Valley.  Lake Baringo supports an enourmous number of birds species and a large number of hippos.  Arrive in Lake Baringo in time for lunch.  After lunch take a one-hour bird watching trip by boat to the crescent island to view hippos too.  At the island you can take excursions (at an extra cost) like a visit to the Njemp’s villages and dancing or visit the local snake farm.  Dinner and overnight at a lodge in Lake Baringo.

DAY 6 – LAKE BOGORIA – TREETOPS

After breakfast, visit Lake Bogoria a shallow soda lake home to a large number of birds and the rare ‘kudu’.  Scalding hot springs and geysers at the southern end of the lakes spurt and steam their alkaline waters.  The bubbling hot springs, hundreds of singing weaverbirds and a million flamingos feeding in the blue waters presents a rate scenic beauty.  Leave for Treetops via Thompson falls to arrive at Outspan Hotel (the base for Treetops) in time for lunch.  The current British Queen was holidaying at the Treetops when she received the news about her fathers’ death and her ascension to the throne.  After lunch you will be transferred to treetops, which is in the Aberdares National Park.  Dinner and overnight at the tree hotel.  Game viewing from your room’s balcony, where you have a fantastic view of the animals that flock the floodlit waterhole and saltlick.

DAY 7  – TREETOPS – SAMBURU

After breakfast, leave for Samburu to arrive the lodge in time for lunch.  Evening game drive provided.  Dinner and overnight at Sarova Shaba lodge.

DAY 8 – SAMBURU

Pre-breakfast, bird watching and game drive.  After breakfast day spent at leisure.  Evening game drive is ideal for spotting the rare lioness that is famous for its unusual ability to adopt various antelopes especially the Oryx.  Dinner and overnight at Sarova Shaba  lodge.

DAY 9 – SAMBURU

After breakfast, go for a morning  game drive.  Rest of the day at leisure.  Dinner and overnight at Sarova Shaba lodge.

DAY 10 – SAMBURU – NAIROBI

After breakfast, have a game drive enroute to Nairobi to arrive in the early afternoon.

The US President is black, Lewis if F1 champion and Kenya is still embroiled in scandalous affairs as it claims a big fight on the vice …Guess the world is changing a bit ever since I was here.

Oh yes, what do you have to say about that? Two words for me, ‘ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE’.

The Intergovernmental institution for the use of Micro-Algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMAM) said the 86-year-old would join its other ambassadors, who include former Argentine football star, Diego Maradona. In a statement issued from New York, the organisation said Sarah will work with its subsidiary in Kenya — the Kisumu Kids Empowerment Organisation (KKEO), which is working on spirulina — a locally cultivated algae food supplement for malnourished children and people with HIV/AIDS. The statement also said the Obama family had accepted to act as key local facilitators for the spirulina initiatives.

Sarah could not be reached for comment but a family source disclosed they were due to meet the spirulina team next week for an official ceremony. The KKEO Director Els Wijt Mulder confirmed the appointment. “She will help to further the mandate of our organisation to realise a world free of malnutrition and hunger by mainstreaming the use of spirulina,” said Mulder.

It really came as a shock to me at how Kenyans can relish the opportunity to see a fruitful day go to the drains in senseless drinking as one of their ‘sons’, thousands of miles away, achieved his dream! Well, the win was quite a dream for most us who could not get any sleep! I see it as a shameful act to try and tell the world how lazy we can be in celebration.

Americans Voted and went to work the following day. They celebrated this historical milestone and no public holiday was ‘gifted’to them. Back in kenya the government declared a day off . The economy in kenya is in turmoil and people are getting public holidays when they should be at work! Anybody with me on this? In as much as people want to celebrate Obama’s achievement, Kenya will never be like the country he leads because of institutionalized laziness and poor leadership -what in the world was kibaki thinking -you cant buy obama’s support with cheap holidays -the man supports Odinga for crying out loud. At least Raila should have made the announcement.

Picture this, November 5th after his victory, Obama took his two girls to school and trust me, they will not miss even a day of school. While in Kenya the opposite is happening. Millions of Kids miss a day in school, factories closed and no business conducted.

How foolish are we !

Congratlations to President-Elect Barack Obama and VP-Elect Joe Biden from cribarworld. Good work in picking Rahm Emmanuel as Chief-of-Staff designate, he brings the kind of blend the new administration needs.

Check out what some serious students who enjoy learning are using as a mode of transportation. I’m hoping this will open up our hearts to embrace the fact that we need high disciplinary standards in our schools.

I have to say the man who really caught my eye has to be the great Usain Bolt. At just 21, Bolt has achived the unimaginable by winning the 100 and 200m  races in unbelievable fashion and in world record time. In some cases, he seemed to be strolling towards the finish line.

Nigerian Mohammed Bello Abubakar, 84, has advised other men not to follow his example and marry 86 women.”A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them,He says his wives have sought him out because of his reputation as a healer. “I don’t go looking for them, they come to me. I will consider the fact that God has asked me to do it and I will just marry them. To my understanding the Koran does not place a limit and it is up to what your own power, your own endowment and ability allows. God did not say what the punishment should be for a man who has more than four wives, but he was specific about the punishment for fornication and adultery.”

“As soon as I met him the headache was gone. God told me it was time to be his wife. Praise be to God I am his wife now. I am now the happiest woman on earth. When you marry a man with 86 wives you know he knows how to look after them.”
