Hello Everyone!

I am so excited to start revealing some of what's been keeping me busy! You know that I love all things crafty and creative, I've shared my creativity with you for FOUR years now! In celebration of my four years as a blogger, I've kicked it up a notch! I am now bringing you what I call 'crafty cooking' with a new blog called TOPPER IN THE KITCHEN!

You might ask, "Who is Topper?"... well, that's ME! I'm using an old nickname to market a series of sites designed to educate and inspire in a creative and crafty way! Check out my first post HERE! It's a fun, easy way to make corndogs that are baked, not fried and totally full of flavor! So, come get crafty with me in the kitchen!

BABY STEPS: Nursery Wall

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited to share this special project with you! My daughter, Samantha and I traveled to Memphis, Tennessee last week to spend some time with family. My cousins, Jes & Jonny are expecting. So while we were there we helped decorate my cousin's nursery as our gift to her and the baby. Her due date is February 24th so we are currently on 'baby watch'!

Our supplies for this project were very affordable:

- Cricut Expression 2
- BABY STEPS Cricut Cartridge (font)
- PLANTIN SCHOOLBOOK Cricut Cartridge (leaves)
- Brown Vinyl (3)
- Pink Vinyl
- Lavendar Vinyl
- Transfer Tape
- Chocolate brown paint
- Paint brush

I used brown vinyl and cut everything with a 12x12 cricut mat on my Cricut Expression 2. Abigail's name was cut with the font from BABY STEPS Cricut Cartridge at 10". Thanks to my gypsy, I was able to position all the letters on just 2 pieces of 12x12 vinyl. I then cut them out with my scissors and laid them out on the dining room table.

It was helpful that the table had lines on it, so I just used those to line my letters up. You can also use a yardstick or just the edge of a table to make sure you transfer the name/word straight.

I just 'eyeballed' the spacing between the letters, but you could use a ruler if you want to be exact. To keep the letters from moving around, I used a small piece of scotch tape to hold them in place.

The transfer tape comes in 12x24" pieces and there are two sheets in each pack. Abigail's name measured approximately 40" long, so I used both pieces of transfer tape.

To do this, all you need to do is overlap the transfer tape.

My font was cut at 10" and my transfer tape is 12" tall... but I still had a few letters go above and below the lines.

No worries though... just take a scrap piece of transfer tape and overlap it to extend over the letter.

Don't forget to burnish the entire thing with the provided popsicle stick or bone folder.

Gently peel the transfer tape back.

Ta da! Ready to apply it to the wall... except, did anyone notice that I misspelled her name? Yikes! I left out the second 'i'! Good thing I noticed before applying it to the wall, but even if I hadn't, vinyl is removeable... so it is still fixable.

Using either your gypsy or Cricut Craft Room will allow you to get the most out of the vinyl you are using. I was able to cut 112 leaves out of only 8 pieces of 12x12 vinyl.

We layered pink vinyl leaves over the brown vinyl leaf shadows (PLANTIN SCHOOLBOOK). Normally I would be OCD about the leaves being green, but because the nursery colors are these pretty pastels with a brown and white base... the pink leaves looked awesome!

(Cousin Mandy helped with this part! That was alot of leaves!)

Here is the nursery BEFORE...

I could have cut my tree trunk and branches out of vinyl too and pieced them together to make the whole thing. But it was way easier and less expensive to just purchase brown paint and paint the tree onto the wall. Samantha and I free-handed the outline of the tree with a pencil and then started painting.

Just remember to keep you strokes going all in the same direction.

I was inspired when I found this project on PINTEREST. It was originally hand painted by a lady named Sharon Kuplack who owns 'Whimsical Walls". Talk about talented! Oh, my gosh! I truly enjoyed browsing her website and would recommend her to anyone. Of course, she lives in Wisconsin and is not readily available to everyone, but I truly appreciate the inspiration she gave me!

CCR NEW ENGLAND SHORE: "We're Lost" LO

Hi Ya'll!

Today, I'm featuring the new NEW ENGLAND SHORE digital cartridge. This cartridge represents the New England area, but I actually plan to use it on my cruise albums that I STILL have not completed! Every image on here can be used for a cruise and you can buy all six images for only $9.99.

I chose the compass image to use on a scrapbook page about how we got lost on our way to the ship! LOL! Since I am giving a cute little CRICUT MINI away this week... I will be using my MINI (noooo... not a Mini Cooper either! lol) all week!

The compass is a total of 4 pieces which I cut out at 7".

Gotta love a little inking...

To add some dimension, I used pop squares for the center part of my compass

Ta-da! Looks good!

I used PACK YOUR BAGS cricut cartridge for my page title...cut it out at 2". It was perfect!

I wanted a clean simple look for this page and I love how it turned out!

Even added a little bit of bling... !

CCR: Fiesta Digital Cartridge

Hi Ya'll!!

Last Thursday, Provocraft released 5 new digital cartridges (see them here). One of those cartridges is called FIESTA and I took the jalapeno pepper image and made a card out of it in Cricut Craft Room.

Welding images in CCR is super easy... it recognizes when images are overlapped and automatically welds them. A box will pop up and give you the option to unweld, if that's what you want.

I used my Cricut Mini for today's project. For those of you who are not familiar with the Mini, it has a smaller cutting mat that measures 8.5" x 12". Now, at first I didn't think I would like a smaller mat... remember, I am a diehard Texan and we believe that 'bigger' is 'better'! lol! But, I actually really like the new size, because it allows me to use up all that 8.5"x11" cardstock that I have.

This is my favorite picture in today's post... because you see that little black lever? Yep... I saw it, but didn't know what it was. Never ever even thought about it being the PRESSURE DIAL!! I swear (true confession time) that I struggled with my Mini for a good week! I had resorted to multi-cutting everything like 5 times just to get my cuts to come out! It was sad. Until I was talking to my fellow bloggers, Joy and Melanie (Everyday Cricut) and Joy (thanks Joy!) told me what that little black lever was for! OMGoodness... I would have figured that out if I had bothered to read the startup instructions, duh, but I always appreciate learning from my friends! If you get a chance, visit Joy's blog (www.obsessedwithscrapbooking.com) and tell her I said, "THANKS"!

The cardstock that I used has a white backing which makes it perfect for cards.

Teresa Collins' CHRISTMAS SENTIMENTS on CCR

Hey Ya'll!!

So... how many people are working on their Christmas photos yet? Well, I am! I've uploaded my photos, edited them and have sent them to be printed. I'm cropping this weekend with my pals, so I am precutting some of my embellishments in advance to help me be really productive in my scrapbooking on Saturday.

There are several new digital Christmas images in CRICUT CRAFT ROOM (CCR) and I need to cut all of them, lol! Today's embellishment was made with Teresa Collin's CHRISTMAS SENTIMENTS.

I chose my Cricut MINI for this project because it is a perfect size for making embellishments and titles. I have a small netbook that I use my CCR on and connected to my Cricut MINI, it is compact and easy to carry. "Tis the Season" was cut at 3".

I used black cardstock for my shadow and red Bo Bunny for the top layer.

Since the title is only 2 layers, I decided to add additional embellishment.

I liked the title before, but now it is totally awesome!

Simple stickles in green and red

Such a beautiful embellishment for my scrapbook page and so so inexpensive!

Whew! December was just a blur for me... was it that way for anyone else? There was so much to do with my move back from California to Texas (yes... I'm back!) that it took all my energy to get ready for Christmas and left (insert gasp here) no time for crafting!! But, I'm happy to report that I have spent the past holiday weekend catching up on all my favorite blogs, updating my pinterest boards (I have 68 of them! lol) and drooling over all the cool artwork that was released in CRICUT CRAFT ROOM. I love decorating gable boxes and they make the cutest containers for all sorts of homemade goodies! Here is another one that I decorated for cookies...

Used HELLO KITTY GREETINGS & HELLO KITTY FONT to decorate this box.

I haven't picked out this year's cookie recipe yet, but last

year's cookies were these yummy Chocolate Cherry Cookies:

CHOCOLATE CHERRY COOKIESIngredients:1 cup butter
2 egg
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 cup white sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries

Directions:1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

2. Beat butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and beat well. Add dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
3. Roll into 1-inch balls about the size of a walnut (larger if desired). Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Drain cherries and reserve juice. Press center of each ball with thumb. Place a cherry in indentation.
5. In a saucepan, heat condensed milk and chocolate chips until chips are melted. Stir in 4 teaspoons of cherry juice. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of mixture over each cherry and spread to cover cherry. (More cherry juice may be added to keep frosting of spreading consistency.)
6. Bake for 10 minutes. Makes 2 dozen cookies

ART PHILOSOPHY: 'Let the Vacation Begin' LO

Hello Everyone!!!

Can you believe that it is December already!! Wow!! I'm so totally NOT ready for Christmas! Anyone with me? I have had alot going on this year with a BIG move to California and many other things both personally and professionally. Well, I'm gonna end this crazy year with another big move BACK to Texas. Crazy, I know, but you know I like to keep everyone on their toes and always guessing, "Where's Tammy now!". LOL! Speaking of traveling... I had the pleasure of cropping with one of my besties, Myrel last weekend. She and I are working on our Cruise/Disney World vacation books, so we made this layout using ART PHILOSOPHY:

My bestie had these Jolee's stickers in her stash and we thought it would be great to use them for this layout. Frames and shapes cut with your cricut is a great way to display random stickers on a page.

I love to frame photos with the postage stamp shape. Ink your edges and add a little embellishment with a white gel pen and your good to go.

Another shape from the ART PHILOSOPHY cartridge. This has fast become my new favorite cartridge, it is so versatile. Remember that it is an exclusive to CLOSE TO MY HEART, so contact your CTMH rep to buy this one, OR you can get it from my friend, MELANIE BROWN. The title was done on my gypsy using DON JUAN and DESIGNER'S CALENDAR.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

I am back in Dallas now and have been invited over to a close family friend's house for Thanksgiving... ummm... she actually invited my WHOLE family over! LOL! Boy! That Leeanne has a heart as big as Texas, because we added 11 people to her dinner table today! My sisters and mom and I are all cooking different dishes to help out, so this turkey day is not so difficult on any one person... except Leeanne! Love you girl!

Speaking of Thanksgiving and family... there will be one member of our family missing from our table today and that is my son-in-law, Cris. He is an Army soldier who is serving in Afghanistan. Talk about something to be thankful for... we are thankful for his courage... his sacrifice... and my daughter's courage and sacrifice, too. She is an Army wife and as one, they are often forgotten when our soldiers are thanked for their sacrifice, but these brave women are making sacrifices too. She worries about him all the time, but we are so grateful for technology and their ability to skype each other. Those moments keep her going. She is also part of a group of Army wives on Facebook. They encourage each other and help each other like no other. It's so cute to hear about all the care packages that these wives so painstakingly assemble and mail to their soldiers. I'm especially proud of the care packages that my daughter, Samantha, has done. Cris has been gone for a little over two months and she has managed to mail him SEVENTEEN care packages! Many of them are full of things that our family and friends have donated, but there were a few that she has taken special care and decorated using the cricut that I gave her for Christmas last year. Take a look at the special Thanksgiving package that she mailed him a few weeks ago...

Isn't that the cutest thing you ever saw!?! She took the flat rate postal boxes and decorated the inside flaps, so that when Cris opens them he gets a surprise! He cuts the flaps off of all the boxes that she does this too and hangs them over his bunk. So sweet!

Well, I hope that everyone has an awesome Thanksgiving!! Provocraft will be releasing new digital images for the CRICUT CRAFT ROOM EXCLUSIVE collection later today! I'll share them with you then!

Hello Everyone!!

I just love Fridays! I'm hanging out with my new friends at our local scrapbook store SHE'S CRAFTY in Redding, California. We are getting ready for the start of our gypsy club called, GYPSY GIRLS. NEW TESTAMENT: 'Reason for the Season' Card

Hello again!!

I'm featuring the recently released NEW TESTAMENT Cricut Cartridge this week and have a cute & simple Christmas card to share with you! It's that time ladies (and gents)! If you are planning on making your own Christmas cards, you should be at least designing and gathering your supplies at this point. If you haven't chosen a design yet, this might be the right one for you!

The card is a standard A2 sized card and I have posted the dimensions below to make it easy for you to duplicate!

A2 CARD Size: 5.5" x 4.25" folded

5.5" x 8.5" unfolded

A: 5.25" x 4"

B: 5" x 2"

C: 4.5" x 1.5"

D: 2.5" x 2.5"

Cross: 3"

Easy Peasy! My inside sentiment is a stamp that says, "REASON FOR THE SEASON". If you don't have a stamp you want to use, just print it on your computer in a beautiful font and viola! Your Christmas cards will be done! Supplies for this card are simple and assembly even simplier. Remember, if making ALL your Christmas cards by hand is a daunting task for you, then shorten your "Handmade Card List" to include only your closest family and friends and send everyone else a store-bought card. (sorry everyone else!!)

NEW TESTAMENT: Believe

Hello Everyone!!

Well, I'm back from Orlando! I've unpacked and am now excited to get back into my studio! We only took a little over 3000 photos between the cruise and the five days at Disney World! I love the digital cameras because you have the freedom to take so many pictures, but geezzzz... how am I gonna scrapbook all those pictures!? It's a great dilemma to have, lol!

I wanted to share another project that I made with the just released NEW TESTAMENT Cricut Cartridge:

This cross is actually only two layers. The green part with the wings and then the blue outline of the cross is the top layer and both were cut out at 5". I cut the black wing layer at 5.5" so I could use it as a shadow and give the wings more definition. I then added a few rhinestones to really dress it up.

I loved this cross and can think of many ways to use it. I am definitely planning on making a t-shirt with it!

The word "Believe" was cut out at 2" and is from the WALL DECOR & MORE Cricut Cartridge.

"The Lord" is also from the NEW TESTAMENT, this cartridge also has an entire creative feature key on scriptures and some welded words like this one. So, no welding was needed, it was cut at 1.5".
