We thank those of you who have been using the site, and apologize that it will not be continuing in its current form (we have determined that, for the most part, there is unfortunately little to be gained by doing a better job of what is done elsewhere). We hope to re-launch the site later this fall with a different approach that we hope is equally, if not more, useful to our readers.

The one exception: During this time, and for the foreseeable future, we will continue to update our CD Release Calendar on a daily basis (at least on those days when there are items to add to the calendar).

British Sea Power
February 12th is the US release date for the band’s third LP, “Do You Like Rock Music?” UK fans can pick it up beginning January 14th.

The Charlatans
The UK band have announced that their next album, “You Cross My Path,” will be available as a free download on the band’s own website and on the site Xfm. Although the album won’t be ready until next year, the first single will be available (for free) beginning October 22nd.

Deerhoof
The experimental indie-rockers have made an entire album of live tracks and rarities available for free download on its website.

Eve
The singer’s next album, “Here I Am,” which has already been delayed several times, has been pushed back once again, from October 16th to an unspecified date in 2008.

Mars Volta
The release of the band’s next album has been pushed back into next year. “Bedlam in Goliath” will now arrive in stores on January 29th.

Radiohead
As previously reported here and elsewhere, “In Rainbows” arrives next week (via the band’s website) in two formats: a download-only version, for which you can name your own prices, and an approximately $80 “discbox” version that includes a bonus disc and a ton of extra materials. For those of you who want a physical version but don’t want to pay the high cost of the deluxe edition, word comes today that a conventional CD of the album will be released in early 2008.

Pitchfork has some very surprising details on the next Radiohead album, which, contrary to earlier reports and rumors, will be released on October 10th, rather than next year. The highlights:

The album is titled “In Rainbows.”

Radiohead still do not have a record label or contract. As a result, they are self-releasing the album via their website, which will be the only place to purchase it.

If you want a download-only version of the album, you can obtain it from the Radiohead site for as much (or as little) money as you want to pay for it.

A special “discbox” edition comes with lots of extras, including a second disc with eight additional new tracks, a vinyl version of both discs, artwork, and more. That version will run you £40, or approximately $80.

After a nearly thirty-year career–much of it spent in those two bands with drummer and now-ex husband Budgie–the singer has recorded her very first solo album. While “Mantaray” (out Tuesday in the US) is far from an innovative album, it’s also far from her past work, exploring a variety of new styles and taking on a more personal tone. Judging from the reviews, Siouxsie has built up quite a bit of goodwill over her career, and does little to change that with this solid debut.

How to follow the extremely well-reviewed LP “Mirrored”? Why, with an EP, of course. The six-track “Tonto+” will include remixes from The Field and Four Tet and a bonus DVD.

Mary J. Blige
The singer drops “Growing Pains” on November 27th. It is the follow-up to her huge 2005 hit “The Breakthrough.”

Stephen Malkmus
The former Pavement leader will release his fourth solo album in March, according to label Matador Records.

Mates Of State
The duo is about halfway through recording its next album, which it plans to release early next year. Billboard has details…

Mudvayne
The rockers will release “By The People, For The People” on November 27th.

Radiohead
It looks like March 2008 will be the month that the band’s next album finally arrives. Details about the album, such as they are, have been trickling out of Radiohead HQ via a series of coded messages posted on the band’s website. The latest message, “March Wax,” has been interpreted as a hint about the release date, although it could also be a command intended for anthropomorphic candles.

To Rococo Rot
The electronica act’s first release in three years will be the six-song EP “ABC123,” due in the UK on October 22nd on Domino.

Utilizing a full band and a variety of guests, the new album explores a variety of genres over its (too) lengthy running time. Much like the music on Smokey, the reviews for the disc are all over the map, and it certainly doesn’t appear to be Banhart’s most successful recording.

Although the singer-songwriter plans to record another album with his usual backing band (The Terminals) in 2008, his next album will find Bragg operating alone, with only his acoustic guitar to provide the backing. “Silver Sonya” is due December 11th.

David Byrne
On October 30th, Nonesuch will issue Byrne’s “Music for ‘The Knee Plays’” on CD for the very first time, in a remastered version with eight previously-unreleased instrumentals tacked on to the end. Originally released in 1985, the album compiled musical interludes written by the Talking Heads frontman for a Robert Wilson opera called “the CIVIL warS.”

Delays
The UK outfit will release a five-song EP, “Love Made Visible,” on November 5 in the UK. Their next album, “Everything’s The Rush,” will follow in early 2008.

Mike Doughty
The former Soul Coughing frontman has completed work on his next solo album, “Golden Delicious,” which is due early next year.

Dr. Dre
Dre’s first album in six years will now be his first album in seven years, as the release of “Detox” has been pushed back until 2008. He expects it to be his final solo album.

Wyclef Jean
The release of “The Carnival II: Memoirs of an Immigrant” has been pushed back from November 6 to December 4.

The Killers
The band’s previously-announced B-sides compilation now has a title and release date: “Sawdust,” due November 13th. It will include one new track: a collaboration with Lou Reed called “Tranquilize.”

Lenny Kravitz
The performer plans to release his next album, “It’s Time for a Love Revolution,” in February 2008.

The Libertines
The short-lived band will release a best-of compilation in the UK on October 29th entitled “Time For Heroes - The Best Of The Libertines.” Fans don’t seem to be too happy about the move.

Six Organs Of Admittance
Ben Chasny is joined by guests Matt Sweeny and members of Magik Markers and Comets On Fire for “Shelter From The Ash,” due November 20th on Drag City.

Tokyo Police Club
The buzz band will release yet another EP, “Smith,” on November 6th, containing four songs and three videos. Their debut album is still expected to arrive in 2008.

The rapper surprised music fans today with the announcement that–retired or not–he will release a brand new album this fall. “American Gangster,” inspired by (but not the soundtrack to) the Denzel Washington movie of the same name, will hit stores on November 6th. The disc follow’s last year’s comeback album “Kingdom Come.”

Peter Bjorn & John
The Swedish trio have finished recording their follow-up to “Writer’s Block” (which spawned the ubiquitous single “Young Folks”), and the surprising news is that it is an all-instrumental album. No release date or title is set for the disc, which is currently being mastered. Paste has additional details.
