Bloody Disgusting reports, "Hippo horror movie 'Hungry' follows thrill-seeking tourists on a riverboat tour through the treacherous Louisiana swamplands. Lured off the beaten path by the promise of an exclusive adventure, they soon find themselves fighting for survival against a ravenous hippopotamus lurking beneath the bayou’s murky waters."

It will be released June 23rd, so watch out.

Kevin Hassett: War? What War?

Trump's Director of the National Economic Council Kevin Hassett doesn't want to piss off Dear Leader and contradict his latest lie, so he did his best to weasel out of answering the question when asked about the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

As we discussed here, and as former Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes made clear this Friday, a blockade is an act of war, so Trump's argument that somehow we're not at war because of the so-called ceasefire is laughable.

Hassett made an appearance on this Sunday's Face the Nation on CBS, and was asked by host Margaret Brennan whether or not we're still at war with Iran given the fact that the blockade is in place, and rather than admit his boss is a liar, Hassett pretended he didn't know what the definition of war is.

MARGARET BRENNAN: So, you said the blockade is still on. A blockade is an act of war. Are we at war with Iran?

KEVIN HASSETT: Iran shut down the straits. Iran shut down the straits, and the only ones they were letting through were Iranian ships, and President Trump didn't think that was acceptable.

MARGARET BRENNAN: So, we are still at war with Iran?

Rescue Of 1,500 Beagles In Wisconsin Is Underway

In what may be the biggest dog rescue since 2022, when 4,000 beagles were rescued from a puppy mill on the East Coast, the first of 1,500 beagles were pulled from a biolab/puppy mill in Wisconsin.

On Thursday, rescue groups Big Dog Ranch Rescue and The Center for a Humane Economy jointly announced that they reached an agreement to buy 1,500 beagles from Ridglan Farms, a biolab/puppy mill in Wisconsin, which had already agreed to surrender its state license due to animal cruelty. Ridglan Farms had been caught performing operations on dogs without anesthesia and by unlicensed staff members.

On Friday, the first 300 beagles were removed and taken to a safehouse, where they were vetted and vaccinated, before being allowed to experience many of the firsts for them - first feel of grass, the first feeling of the sun on them, the first chance to move about freely and socialize with other dogs.

Ridglan Farms is where animal activists broke into the facility in March and managed to rescue 23 beagles.

Texas Court Blocks Abortion Pill Telemed Prescriptions

Texas Republicans fall all over themselves touting their “pro-life” bona fides. However, their actual laws are anything but. In addition to a near-worship of life-killing guns, their anti-abortion laws have led to skyrocketing maternal deaths.

So, it’s no surprise that on Friday, Texas’ ultraconservative federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily blocked a 2023 FDA regulation allowing abortion-drug mifepristone to be mailed to patients.

As The Texas Tribune explained, the 2023 rule allowed doctors to prescribe mifepristone remotely and the drug to be mailed to patients in Texas and other states where abortion is illegal. Now, it can only be obtained in person.

Todd Blanche Roasted Online For Dumb Voter ID Argument

Either Todd Blanche eats in bars, or he's just lying. On Sunday's Meet the Press, Blanche made his case for Voter ID. He's kind of a crappy lawyer if he thinks this reasoning will fly.

"There's a lot of things that we can be doing like voter ID, like every time you walk into a restaurant or a club you have to show your ID," Blanche said with an unnatural degree of certainty.

Unless he's eating his lunch in a bar with a couple of martinis, I don't think he has to show ID. He could walk into a Burger King or Dennys without revealing his true identity.

And of course, that argument is meant to support voter ID: "How about you have to show your ID to vote? That's not anything that's crazy and that's what we should be talking about."

No, not really. First of all, eating in restaurants or drinking in clubs is not a right enshrined in the U.S. Constitution like voting is. And yes, Voter ID IS crazy because it forces people to get an identification card they don't want or can't afford. Under the evil SAVE Act, even a RealID wouldn't serve as Voter ID.

The online reaction was swift. And not just at Blanche, but also at Kristen Welker for just letting that absurd statement pass her by.

Florida’s Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd was having fun trolling MAGA influencer Craig Long, who got busted in a sex sting:

He was a previous felon. Who straightened up. Really, what we wanna see in life. Now he's an influencer. You know, he moves in big circles. Even with the president, this is a photograph with the president and his son not long ago.

Now, we'd like to see people who make mistakes early in life, and he had a long history straightened up. We like the fact that he likes the cops. Heck, he liked them so much he got caught up in a sting and got to be roughing up and real close with the cops. We asked what his attitude was he said, oh, he had a great attitude. He appreciates law enforcement.

Well, there you go. You got arrested in a human trafficking sting.

Oh, there's one thing Sheriff Judd forgot to mention. Long is also an insurrectionist who was tried and convicted before Trump released him as part of the mass pardon. Now, he's busted for human trafficking.

Fox To Trump's Comey Witch Hunt: 'You Go, Girl'

The hosts of this Saturday's The Big Weekend Show on Fox admitted that it's unlikely James Comey was going to get indicted, but were just fine with Trump weaponizing the Department of Justice against him for personal revenge anyway.

As we've discussed here, this indictment isn't going anywhere and is just another selective and vindictive prosecution as we've seen far too often from this corrupt administration.

That didn't stop the likes of Kaylee McGhee White, Joey Jones, Tomi Lahren and Dr. Marc Siegel from trying to rationalize what's happening and conflating what happened to Trump, who was not just indicted but found guilty in court again and again, and lawsuits against Trump, which he also lost, to this baseless nonsense that's going no where.

WHITE: Tomi, one of Jonathan Turley's points is that the DOJ is going to have to prove that Comey meant a true threat against the president's life when he posted that social media image. But I would say you don't secure a grand jury indictment just by showing people an Instagram post. So the DOJ is clearly sitting on additional evidence that maybe Comey's lawyers aren't even aware of yet.

I went through Tiffany's Twitter feed and saw dozens of tweets about lower gas prices in 2025, but he's been strangely silent about the subject since Trump's war in Iran.

Now, gas prices in Tiffany’s district have seen the highest spike of anywhere in Wisconsin. The surging costs come as Tiffany just voted against legislation to rein in the White House from entering into a costly and cost-raising war without congressional accountability.

“Tom Tiffany promised Wisconsinites 2026 would be the cheapest year for gas because of his policies. Now, gas prices in his district are the highest in the state,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Tiffany has nothing to offer Wisconsinites but broken promises and strained bank accounts.”

Right-wing hack Geraldo Rivera decided he needed to get in on the act during a segment on Chris Cuomo's show on NewsNation this Friday:

It’s apparently contagious. A second commentator has succumbed to the raunch in a pointed attack on a rising young Democratic star.

This time, NewsNation commentator Geraldo Rivera blasted Dem upstart Adam Mockler as a “d*ck.” That dressing came down just one day after CNN’s conservative analyst Scott Jennings went at it with the 23-year-old MeidasTouch podcaster on CNN’s NewsNight with Abby Phillip, with Rivera witnessing it all.

“Chris, the kid was a d---... he was really being a d---,” Rivera told his NewsNation colleague Chris Cuomo on Friday about the on-air dust-up between Jennings and Mockler when Jennings dropped the F-bomb. “Shut up!” Rivera added in an imagined conversation with Mockler. “Go out and get some life experience!”

As for Jennings’ attack on Mockler, ”there was a freshness about it," Rivera flatly declared.

I was oblivious to the controversy surrounding it at the time, since I wasn't focused on politics.

The United States is withdrawing 5,000 troops from NATO ally Germany, the Pentagon announced Friday, as a rift over the Iran ‌war widens between President Donald Trump and Europe. Trump had threatened a drawdown in forces earlier this week after sparring with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who said on Monday the Iranians were humiliating the U.S. in talks to end the two-month-old war and that he did not see what exit strategy Washington was pursuing.

The official said the drawdown would bring U.S. troop levels in Europe back to roughly pre-2022 levels, before Russia's invasion of Ukraine triggered a buildup by then-President Joe Biden. The official also cast the decision in terms of the Trump administration's push for Europe to become the main security provider on the continent. But it is nonetheless another potent reminder of Trump's willingness to respond to perceived disloyalty by allies.

Reuters exclusively reported last week an internal Pentagon email that outlined options to punish NATO allies that Washington believes failed to support U.S. operations in the war with Iran, including suspending Spain from NATO and reviewing the U.S. position on Britain's claim to the Falkland Islands.

And Biden — give me a break. You know, the first question is very easy. It's a lion, a giraffe, a bear, and a shark. They say, "Which one is the bear?" And everybody says, oh, 30 questions. It's a very standard test, but very tough around those last 10 questions. Not too many people, even in this room — unlike Newsom, I'll say this is a room of geniuses. He said, "I'm in a room of dumb people." That was not good. That was not good.

You know what happened to him after that. It wasn't pretty. But I'm in a room of brilliant people — and a lot of you wouldn't have been able to answer those last 10 questions.

President Trump formally informed Congress in a letter Friday that the ongoing ceasefire with Iran extended the timeline between the start of the war and the 60-day deadline invoked by the War Powers Act.

Friday marks 60 days since the president officially notified lawmakers of the U.S. military’s operations in Iran that began on Feb. 28.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have voiced concerns about the conflict exceeding the time limit covered by the War Powers Act, during which the president can deploy U.S. forces without the authorization of Congress if there is an “imminent threat.” But Trump on Friday also suggested that the Vietnam War-era law is unconstitutional — a new argument from the administration.

Trump Calls Affordability 'One Good Line Of Bullshit'

Donald Trump decided to make some campaign ads for Democrats during a speech at The Villages in Florida this Friday.

TRUMP: The Democrats start screaming, "Affordability, affordability!" — but they're the ones who caused the problem. They may have one good talking point, I'll give them that. But they are so bad. Affordability.

The first time I heard that word — just two days in — I watched one of these congressmen get on TV and say, "Affordability, prices are too high!" But we've already brought prices way down. They handed us tremendously high prices, and they'll do it again if they ever take over.

As Paul Krugman discussed in a post on his Substack this Friday, Republicans and Trump have an affordability problem with Trump's promise to bring prices down on "day one" and to bring gas prices down, and with them spiking now that he and Bibi decided to attack Iran.

Their solution has been to just go on television and lie about it as we saw from Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Buddy Carter, and of course, Trump.

Yes, in New York City, on this day in 1956, audiences were treated to the theatrical premiere of Forbidden Planet. This was a serious science fiction movie with a real budget, excellent special effects, and a stacked cast including Leslie Nielsen, Anne Francis, and Walter Pidgeon (and Robby the Robot). It used an early all-electronic soundtrack and drew on Shakespeare’s The Tempest as plot scaffolding. All in all, it was a quantum leap in cinematic science fiction and directly inspired a number of later space-travel movies and television shows.

At the 1957 Academy Awards, the film's Special Effects enjoyed a nomination for the trophy, but the film lost out to The Ten Commandments. In 2007, a new home video release was nominated for the Saturn Award in the category of 'Best DVD Classic Film Release.' Huntington Beach Ordered To Pay $1M For Censoring Library Books

On Monday, an Orange County judge ordered Huntington Beach to pay $960,000 for legal work done by four legal organizations fighting the city’s violation of the state’s Freedom to Read Act.

But the ruling is only tentative.

As The Orange County Register explained, the ruling is the latest development after the Huntington Beach City Council ordered that any books containing sexually explicit material in the children’s section should be removed to a separate area and only accessed with parental consent. It’s not clear how they defined sexually explicit, but The Register said that some of the restricted titles were “It’s Perfectly Normal” and “Sex is a Funny Word.” Both are designed to be educational, not prurient, and each had approximately 80% five-star ratings on Amazon.

The city council’s directive was issued in October 2023. In February 2024, a former librarian, two local teenagers, and a local nonprofit sued and won. The city was ordered to dismantle its restricted section, restore the library’s teen section, and establish legal protections for librarians, The Register reported.

Steve Bannon Claims Voting Rights Act Of 1965 Was Racist Against Southern Whites

After the Kangaroo Supreme Court stripped away key sections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, MAGA influencer and resident scumbag Steve Bannon said the South was the people who had been oppressed because of the Voting Rights Act, which tried to end racism at the voting booth.

Bannon argued, using a dog whistle megaphone, that without racism, the GOP would not have captured the House and would not keep it in the future.

This is disgusting.

BANNON: Let me just be blunt. That's why this fight is so important, and we'll have more specifics today about who to light up because you can see those people that are MAGA and those people that are -will put their shoulder to the -- what's so outrageous and I find so offensive is the South has been oppressed by this since the 1960s or 70s.

It was clearly unconstitutional. Finally, people in Louisiana had the gumption to fight all the way through. The Supreme Court six to three, this was not close.

This was not close, and Alito buried them.

The only reason Louisiana took this up was because they know that Justice John Roberts has been our mission to destroy equal rights for minorities.

LBJ knew it was necessary to pass these laws because of the heavy racism from the South directed at the black communities that disenfranchised them at every turn, including their Constitutional right to vote.

Rick Scott Supports The Filibuster - Except When Republicans Are In The Majority

CNN host Kaitlin Collins turned Sen. Rick Scott's interview on its head, making him babble nonsense when she reminded the Senator from Florida that he supported the filibuster when Republicans were in the minority in the Senate.

During a discussion on the war in Iran, CNN host Kaitlin Collins asked Sen. Rick Scott why the Senate doesn't vote on the War Powers resolution.

Sen. Scott made a specious argument when he attacked the Democrats for only voting on what they want to vote on.

SCOTT: I'll be glad to vote. I have no problem voting. But, but let's put it in perspective here.

We don't get to vote here in the Senate. I mean, the Democrats, the Democrats block all, block all the votes.

Only, they will get to vote on things they want to vote on.

Democrats are exercising their constitutional rights by voting for what they agree with and using the silent filibuster.

"In 1917, the Senate passed Rule XXII, or the cloture rule, which made it possible to break a filibuster with a two-thirds majority. In 1975, the Senate reduced the requirement to 60 votes, which has effectively become the minimum needed to pass a law through regular procedures."

Isn't that the American way?

Sen. Scott then stepped into quicksand when he continued to blather on.

The GOP's Own Leaked Memo Confirms Their Worst Nightmare

As it happens, the polls aren't the only ones delivering bad news to Republicans — their own allies are piling on, too. Public surveys now show Democrats pulling ahead on the economy, which is a bit like losing a spelling bee to someone you've been calling illiterate for decades.

To make things worse, Politico got its hands on a leaked memo from a Koch-backed GOP group that essentially confirms the same thing in writing. The memo's internal polling finds that, for the first time, voters trust Democrats more on the economy and inflation. Oh, and as a bonus, it also warns that Republicans could lose the Senate — and begs the party to completely rethink how it talks about the economy. So to summarize: the GOP is being fact-checked by its own friends, and it doesn't seem to have a Plan B. That last part tracks.

“As it stands today, our view is that the Republican Senate majority is at risk,” AFP Action senior adviser Emily Seidel and Executive Director Nathan Nascimento write in the memo, according to the outlet. “Our internal polling in several battleground states and one-on-one conversations with voters show that for the first time, Democrats are more trusted on the economy and inflation.”

Democrats Just Rejected Weakness—It Changes EVERYTHING

Democrats just made a major shift—and it could help put the party in a position to have a once-every-100-years election. Janet Mills just dropped out of a key Senate race, because Democratic voters didn’t fall back on the usual “safe” insider pick. Instead, they signaled a demand for strength, authenticity, candidates willing to fight Trump. Against a system failing us. Against insiders who won't speak from the heart to tell voters what's really going on, and how they'll fight like hell to fix it no matter who it upsets.

Look, I get the concerns about Graham Platner. He made some terrible mistakes. I'd argue most of us, if you shine a light on our private lives, have been far from perfect. But he's owned up to it. And we need to accept those willing to change. And in this case a guy who literally has an out-of-the-wood charisma Mainers love. Rebublicans may find more on him. But they've been unable to stop him, and I dont' suspect that will change.
