During a presser in the White House on Thursday to announce he was calling off the strikes on Iran, Trump disassembled into waxing that fishermen love him, and then devolved into claiming "you have to go to Japan to get a Maine lobster."

Taco Trump wrote on Truth Social, "Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, canceled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening.”

Nobody saw that coming, right?

Trump then rambled through several other ideas that struck his fancy, including bragging, the saying he shouldn't brag, then bragging some more while lying on top of it all.

TRUMP: America's fishermen have never had a better ally in the White House than Donald Trump.

That I will say. I shouldn't say that because I don't want to brag, but based on the vote of getting almost every vote ever, but you have never had.

And again, in Maine, I opened it up.

You know who's fishing there, Canada, Canada, Japan, was fishing there, Maine lobster.

You couldn't get a Maine lobster.

You had to go to Japan to get a Maine lobster. You had to go to Canada to get a Maine lobster.

They were fishing there.

Not only that, you had to go a day and a half in a boat and they had you at three knots.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a bizarre analogy comparing the UFC to the United States putting a man on the moon in an effort to defend Trump's defiling the White House grounds by hosting a UFC fight on his 80th birthday.

Rubio claimed that the UFC or the mixed martial arts industry is as revolutionary as the NASA Space program was in 1969.

RUBIO: I have a couple of reasons why I think it's very powerful.

Here's the first. The first is America, and the ideal behind America is the impossible.

That someone tells you, you can't do that, or that's never going to happen. The whole idea of America is audacious.

The very idea that America, that you could have a country founded on the principle that your rights come not from your government or from your leaders, your rights come from your creator, was an audacious idea.

No one else believed that at the world at that time. And that's the foundation. But then, beyond that, everything we've done since then as a nation, time and again, how can you achieve some of the things?

You know, we're going to put a man on the moon. When President Kennedy announced that we were going to put a man on the moon and return him safely to the earth, no one thought that was possible, and we did it.

We are a nation founded on doing what no one else dared to do and no one else aspired to do.

And at some level, that's what this whole company, what UFC, has been.

POTUS Won't Sign Peace Deal If It Happens During UFC Cage Match

President Donald Trump won't attend the signing of his own Iran peace deal — the White House has a UFC fight scheduled for the same weekend.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump announced he had canceled planned strikes against Iran after negotiations reached the "highest level of Iranian leadership." The deal, he said on Truth Social, has been approved by the U.S., Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt "and others," with a naval blockade remaining in place until the agreement is finalized. The time and place of the signing, he added, were yet to be announced.

In the Oval Office, Trump filled in one logistical detail: he won't be there.

"'The Strait will officially open as soon as we sign, which could be soon, very soon, maybe over the weekend in Europe. I won't be able to be there, but JD will be there — Vice President — and some of the people. Steve Witkoff did a great job, Jared," Trump told reporters.

Vice President JD Vance and Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will attend the signing in his place.

Texas Republican Rep. Troy Nehls outdid his colleagues in heaping praise on Donald Trump with reporters on Thursday. Somehow, with a straight face, he declared that the president "was born a very special baby." A United States congressman said that. Out loud. On purpose.

"You know, I know we got this weaponization fund, but I think maybe we need to establish a fund for those that have Trump derangement syndrome and get counseling," he said. "Maybe we ought to provide some counseling for all the nutjobs out there that think Donald Trump is the worst thing."

"Donald Trump is the best thing to happen in this country in 100 years," he insisted. "He was born, he was born a very special baby."

"I bet you the doctor said, I can tell this is a very special baby, right?" he added.

Nehls informed America that Donald J. Trump was born a very special baby, and that doctors probably sensed his greatness the moment he emerged into the world. You cannot make this up. A sitting member of Congress, with a straight face, essentially delivered a Hallmark card for a cult leader. "He was born a very special baby" is the kind of thing you'd say about a golden retriever puppy, not a twice-impeached, grifting former president currently back in office.

The invitations for local dignitaries had been sent out, and school children and police were ready to witness the ribbon-cutting on Friday. And then Donald Trump stepped in to ruin everything, as he always does.

Windsor, Ontario, Mayor Drew Dilkens was not as diplomatic about the situation as Canadian Prime Minister Carney, as Windsor and Detroit have been waiting decades for the bridge, saying of the delay, "The fingerprints of Donald Trump are all over this."

Hours after the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority postponed a planned ribbon-cutting event on Friday, Carney said there were "a few issues that have been raised."

The postponement — and Carney's comments — come after a White House official told CBC News this week that U.S. President Donald Trump's position on the bridge had not changed.

"The administration remains committed to securing the best possible deal for the American people," the statement read.

Earlier this year, Trump threatened to stall the opening of the bridge until the U.S. is compensated, despite Canada paying entirely for the construction of the bridge and it being jointly owned with the state of Michigan.

Trump's former economic advisor and failed Federal Reserve Board of Governors nominee Steven Moore gave Fox News a bit of reality when he blamed the awful inflation report on the high cost of oil and fertilizer because of the Iran war and the blockages in the Strait of Hormuz.

Moore joined host Martha MacCallum, who asked about the odious inflation report, which has been debilitating to the US economy and the public at large.

MARTHA: Didn't we did get a not attractive inflation right this morning let's put these numbers up for CPI all food prices up 3% all gas prices up 40% energy prices up 23 and a half.

And we can see those up on the board. What does that do?

MOORE: Well, so the overall inflation rate is now running at about 4.2 percent, that's pretty high. Not catastrophic, I mean you and I lived through the 1970s where inflation was high as 11 -12 percent.

But the fact is that this is all being driven by the high price of oil. By the way, also a lot of the fertilizer goes through the Strait of Hormuz too and that's driven up the price of food as well, so that's those are the two commodities that are rising really rapidly in prices oil and food products.

And you know that's what people buy. They pay gas at the pump, and they go to the grocery store, and they're paying these high prices for food.

Here We Go Again With This Social Security Bullsh*t

Four senior senators, two Democrats and two Republicans, are calling on Congress to tackle the “hard” debate over how to extend the solvency of Social Security after the program’s trustees issued a new report this week projecting it will face a significant shortfall at the end of 2032.

“It’s clear now that Congress shouldn’t delay any longer. Several of us have been coming together to talk about how we can strengthen Social Security for current and future generations of retirees. We say to our colleagues: join us in doing what we were elected to do — legislate on hard issues and protect this lifeline program for our kids and grandkids,” Sens. Dick Durbin, Bill Cassidy, Tom Kaine and Thom Tillis said in a joint statement.

The senators issued their call to action after Social Security’s trustees warned that the program will become insolvent by the end of 2032 and beneficiaries would see their monthly payments reduced by 22 percent.

Durbin, Cassidy, Kaine and Tillis said Congress has good ideas for shoring up the program but needs to find the courage to act.

Mullen agreed.

To many at Fox News and in the Trump administration, there is no racism when you're standing up for your white values.

It's wild hearing Fox News hosts suddenly love protests when every other protest in our country is considered by them un-American and paid for by George Soros.

KILMEADE: Belfast, how they're standing up because their leaders have let them down in their own streets, trying to take their country back.

They want to label them as racist or xenophobic. All they want to be is Irish. They want Ireland back.

And that is what we've been saying for the longest time.

Why The Heck Did Trump Need 22 Medical Specialists For His Checkup?

The Washington Post reported this week that Donald Trump “appears to have set a new bar” for the greatest number of medical specialists involved in a presidential checkup. His 22 specialists are nearly double the 12 involved in Geroge W. Bush’s first presidential checkup and are more than four times the five involved in George H.W. Bush’s.

More concerningly, it’s double the 11 specialists involved in Trump’s 2019 checkup and quite a few more than the 14 involved in his checkup last year. To quote a friend who heard about the 22 specialists, “I don’t think I have that many organs!”

Dick Cheney’s cardiologist, Jonathan Reiner, offered a more professional view for The Post. He called it “an extraordinary number” of specialists and asked what specialties they represented and “Why so many?”

Predictably, the White House is claiming there’s nothing to see here. “The involvement of multiple specialists reflects a comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation consistent with best practices for executive-level medical care,” the White House said in a statement.

“We have nothing to hide,” a White House official told The Post.

So, you know they are hiding something.

Trump and his minions have discussed pushing lawmakers to pass a resolution aimed at voiding his first-term impeachments, according to people familiar with the matter. (Probably really incredulous people, who hope to embarrass him into stopping?)

The resolution would allow Trump to claim a symbolic victory on a matter that has dogged him since his first term, part of a broader effort to burnish his presidential legacy. It would have little legal significance, however, because the Constitution provides no procedure for undoing an impeachment, according to experts.

“It should be done because I did nothing wrong,” Trump said when asked about the resolution in a phone call this week with The Wall Street Journal. “It was a rigged deal—it was a whole rigged situation.”

After her cohorts on this Thursday's The Five pretended anyone can believe a word that comes out of Trump's mouth on Iran, Jessica Tarlov, once again, injected some sanity into the conversation.

Following more threats by Trump to hit Iran again this week and "seize Kharg Island, only to back down and say he's not going to hit them after all, and then claim that a peace deal is going to be signed soon, the right wing hosts on the show heaped praise on Trump, and were just sure that this is the time some sort of negotiation is going to take place.

Which was promptly shot down by Tarlov.

GUTFELD: So, do you agree with everything Jesse said? Looks good — cautiously optimistic?

TARLOV: He did not say "cautiously."

WATTERS: Kind of... Oh, I'm cautious. Yeah. We've been down this road before.

TARLOV: At least 37 times, actually. We have been down this road of "we're almost at a deal." I'm glad that you said that we're in a war, though, because the president says that we're not — so that Congress can't assert their right to actually decide whether we should go to war or not. So I'm glad you've broken with him on that.

Reuters (subscription required) did a deep dive into the Trump family's exploits in the crypto market and uncovered some fascinating data, some of which is not unexpected.

Reuters, set out to determine just how much money the Trumps have made from their four main crypto projects, how much of their own cash they staked on those projects, and how outside investors in those projects have fared.

The conclusion: the Trump family has made $2.3 billion from crypto with little-to-no downside risk, while other investors have lost $2.3 billion, including paper losses, as of the end of April.

Fox's Jessica Tarlov brought the receipts on this Wednesday's The Five when her lame cohosts went after Maine senate nominee Graham Platner.

Tarlov first shot down her cohort who continually pretends to be a comedian — Greg Gutfeld — and his accusations of hypocrisy, and pretending that Trump is not actually an existential threat who has continually been enabled by Platner's rival Susan Collins, before finally leaving her other cohost — Emily Campagno — speechless when she tried to pretend Trump has never insulted any military heroes.

Tarlov also did her best to try to combat snarky asshole Gutfeld for pretending that the Dobbs decision hasn't killed women in need of health care with problematic pregnancies due to onerous abortion laws across the country that the ghoul tried to laugh off.

TARLOV: I can't stop. I've been dying to ask you — why didn't Democrats use their machine? We have seen it at play, literally removing and disappearing people all over this United States. Why didn't they find someone more normal? Why didn't they find a candidate that maybe wouldn't even have the baggage? They had one. Why didn't they put the machine behind him?

Tim Scott Calls Worst Inflation In 3 Years 'Good News' And Yes, He Said That Out Loud

South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott tried to spin the news about high inflation under the Trump administration on Maria Bartiromo's Fox Business show. Scott started so well, correctly noting that "the trend is not going in the right direction," then he bent down and licked Trump's cankle-filled boots with a positive take on inflation.

Inflation is at its worst level in three years, and the spin didn't just come from Scott, but from the top, too. When Trump was asked about the inflation number, he somehow said, "I love it!" Sigh.

"We saw this last report is that inflation ticked up to 4.2%, highest in three years," Scott said. "Last month it was 3.8, the month before that was 3.3. The trend is not going in the right direction."

And here it comes.

"But Maria, one of the things it signals is resiliency in our economy, which is in fact good news," he insisted. "Because of Donald Trump, we have more Americans with more money in their pockets because we returned to them or kept in place a $5 trillion tax cut, and your tax return is up 11%. So there's more money to be spent on household necessities."

"So we're going to have to figure out what the hedge against inflation looks like," he continued. "I believe that they will keep rates where they are next week and not increase them. At least that's my prayer."

A group of 10 Democratic senators and the party's top election lawyers quietly convened to game out responses to what they fear could be an unprecedented attempt to disrupt or overturn the results of this fall's midterm elections.

The closed-door session, first reported by Politico, brought together a roster of high-profile legal and political strategists, including former Attorney General Eric Holder and prominent Democratic election attorney Marc Elias, to walk senators through a series of extreme yet increasingly plausible scenarios. Among them: armed federal agents stationed at polling locations, the Justice Department seizing ballots in competitive races and a foreign-backed disinformation campaign powered by AI-generated deepfakes.

" Trump has talked about stealing the election, violating the election, perverting the election, over and over again," said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who convened last week's meeting. "We are going to be prepared for anything that he throws at us."

The Trump administration, apparently deciding that truth is just a matter of branding, asked National Park visitors to mark any exhibits that made America look bad — all in service of transforming historic sites into feel-good monuments where nothing bad ever happened to anyone, ever, according to The Independent.

You know, like history, and important stuff like that, that the administration has repeatedly tried to whitewash.

A Sierra Club lawsuit pried loose 35,000 public comments, and spoiler: the public was not on board. The overwhelming response was one giant "are you serious right now," with a significant chunk of visitors calling the whole scheme "un-American," which, for a project literally about American monuments, is a pretty spectacular own goal.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum issued an order targeting "inappropriate content." Of course, we’re all aware of what this administration deems as “Inappropriate.”

The results didn’t work out in his favor, though. The watchdog group, Save Our Signs, calculated at least 59 signs and exhibits that were pulled or sanitized, with the edits hitting hardest on anything regarding slavery, climate change, women's rights, or Native American history. Because if you can't erase the past, apparently, the next best thing is to unscrew it from the wall quietly.

Republican Led House Fails In Passing FISA

Mike Johnson's last ditch attempt to pass a short-term extension of section 702 of the FISA Act failed with nineteen Republicans voting against it.

This Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act needed a two-thirds majority to pass in the House, but came in with a vote count of 198-218. Trump's hope of passing a bill were dashed when he named another unqualified sycophant, Bill Pulte, to be the acting Director of National Intelligence.

ABC News reports, "The House is expected to leave town after the vote series, as it grows increasingly likely that FISA's legal authorization will lapse for the first time in the program's history. The House does not return to Washington until June 23."

Jebus Johnson whined about the vote and blamed only Democrats for its failure. "Today, we just offered a simple, clean, three-week extension of the FISA national security law. The Democrats, 199 of them, voted against a clean, three-week extension for political purposes," he said with no mention of the 19 republicans that joined with the Democrats.

Fox News Urges Trump ‘To Go Back To Full-Scale War Against Iran’

Wednesday morning, “deal maker” Donald Trump announced he was going to resume attacking Iran “very hard.” It’s hard to know if it was his own idea or whether he was just listening to his favorite advisors, Fox News talking heads. As Media Matters has reported, Fox was pushing Trump to go to war against Iran before the conflict started and "selling Trump the fantasy that he could defeat Iran in 'two weeks.'"

Trump launched new bombings Tuesday and later on Wednesday. But that did not seem to be enough to satisfy Fox News’ blood lust, at least not enough for “straight news” host John Roberts. He got to work pushing Trump to further escalate the unnecessary and unpopular war.

First, Roberts mocked Trump for saying for weeks that Iran is on the ropes and that he was close to a deal. But instead of pushing for an actual deal, Roberts pushed the Fan-in-Chief to ditch the cease fire and bomb, bomb, bomb Iran even more.

GOP Rep Does The Old Fake Phone Call Trick

You can understand a Republican congressman in a district that barely voted for Trump in 2024 being a bit antsy when asked about Mike Johnson's plan to cut Social Security, but pretending to talk on his phone while talking to no one was borderline bizarre, even for a Republican.

People keep voting for these clowns.

A Republican congressman was caught faking a phone call in order to avoid answering questions about his party’s plan to cut Social Security and Medicare.

Approached by a reporter for MeidasTouch and asked about Speaker Mike Johnson’s plan to cut Social Security, Virginia Republican Rep. Rob Wittman pulled out his phone and began speaking into it.

“Hey, how you doing? I’m good. I’m good with that. I’ll be there in just a few minutes,” Wittman says into his phone while walking, as the reporter follows.

However, half of his screen is visible in the video posted by MeidasTouch, and it appears he was not on a call at all, as it does not show the typical phone call screen.

HUD Secretary Lies, Claims Migrants Taking Affordable Housing Away From Citizens

HUD Sec. Scott Turner told CNBC the reason there's a housing and labor shortage is that people not legally here are taking the homes away from US citizens, which is a cataclysmic lie.

Sec. Turner and many others in the Trump administration use this lie to attack migrants coming into the country and blame all their cock-ups and problems on them. Yet, they never give us any evidence, any actual data proving how these migrants have hundreds of thousands of dollars to purchase these homes. If they have the down payment, how can they get a mortgage?

It's ridiculous.

"We were in Iraq and Afghanistan for over 20 years" isn't the flex Rep. Claudia Tenney thinks it is. Here she is during an interview on Newsmax TV this Wednesday sounding just as dumb as Orange Julius.

RECHENBERG: What do you say to the Americans out there? They're sick and tired of this war. They voted for President Trump because he promised to end wars, not start wars. He called himself the president of peace. What is your message to those people experiencing this war fatigue?

TENNEY: Yeah, well, it's not been very long. We were in Iraq and Afghanistan for over 20 years under a couple of different presidents.

So this is a very short term conflict, and this is all about lasting peace. It's not a forever war. President Trump is trying to rid us of a terrorist regime that has been wreaking havoc on our own military, threatening to have a nuclear weapon, which they were just about close to having, a weapons-grade nuclear weapon.
