Crosman Corporation, long known for creating innovative, high quality products for the shooting sports, announced a special instructor discount program directed toward 70,000 International Hunter Education Association (IHEA) Instructors at the recent 2013 IHEA-USA Conference.

According to Jennifer Lambert, Crosman Vice President of Marketing, “Crosman and the IHEA share a common goal of providing a foundation to safely and responsibly introduce future generations to the joys of hunting. We’re excited to provide the volunteers who teach Hunter Education with the means to achieve that goal,” she said.

“For 90 years Crosman has supported the efforts of beginning shooters,” says IHEA-USA Executive Director, Steve Hall. “So it makes sense they’re continuing that commitment by collaborating with hunting education instructors to do the same.”

“With the shortage of traditional firearm ammunition, it’s the perfect time for Crosman to support the shooting sports and hunter education with special pricing on airguns and airgun ammunition. Crosman airgun ammo is readily available and provides an economical alternative for instructors,” she said. “We offer a range of Crosman and Benjamin airguns that provide options for everyone from the beginning shooter to the most experienced hunter.”

Crosman’s new discount program supports the dedicated instructors who teach Hunter Education in North America, “and take on the vital responsibility of mentoring and communicating safe and responsible hunting to almost three-quarter of a million students per year,” Lambert said.

IHEA Instructors may take advantage of the Crosman discount program through the IHEA website (password required).

This is a guest post from our friends at Airgun Depot and their community of airgun enthusiasts.

This is a Community Review of the Benjamin Woods Walker air pistol by Steve Scialli. The author of the following review are in no way affiliated with Airgun Depot. The views expressed below are personal opinion only.

If you hunt small game and are looking for a lighter weight, compact alternative… then you need look no further. Being brilliantly small and extraordinarily light, Crosman’s Benjamin Woods Walker is appropriately titled. I can think of nothing else I would want to tromp around the woods with.

Arriving in four major components, they consist of the pistol, the detachable stock, the red dot sight, and one rotary magazine. The single plastic magazine holds 8 rounds, and I was not able to find a single pellet that would not fit within it… and I tested some big ones. It takes some getting used to but after a few hours of awkward practice it becomes second nature to load. Initially, I found it challenging to have to wind it up, so to speak, and to have to hold my finger under the first pellet hole so the pellet wouldn’t fall through. But like I said, it became muscle memory after a while and performed flawlessly for over 500 rounds of use.

The plastic grips unscrew with one screw per side, allowing the stock to simply slip over the handle’s inner framework. It’s straightforward and fast to make the changeover, with the penalty being that the stock doesn’t stay very tight. It’s tight enough to function but for the price point, I would have preferred an improved design that doesn’t begin to move around after a few minutes of use. So you can expect some shoulder stock movement when cycling the bolt.

Made by Centerpoint, the Red Dot Sight is phenomenal, and totally exceeded my expectations. Blasting squirrels, I felt like the Predator with its four different laser reticles. Choose from a dot, three vertical dots, a dot with a vertical line under it & a horizontal one to its left & right… and a dot with a circle around it with vertical & horizontal lines on its axis. As if that weren’t enough choices, you can also pick from red or green… and view them all in five different light intensities for appropriate brightness in all lighting conditions. This instrument allows for very fast target acquisition, and compliments the Woods Walker’s feathery feel. It looks great, operates with buttery smooth rotary dials, and is a great choice for inside of 25 yards.

Something the Woods Walker does especially well is keep the noise down. The precision choked barrel comes fully shrouded which means you can shoot it indoors without hearing protection or you can shoot in the back yard without alerting your neighbors. You can also shoot it in the woods without spooking the wildlife. Crosman did a great job silencing the Woods Walker… it’s as quiet or quieter than my springers, and goes off with a satisfying “snick.”

Setting things in motion is the match grade trigger. Its pull weight comes set lighter than that of its big brother, the Maurader Rifle… and it can be set even lighter. The included instructions detail how to adjust pull weight, along with first & second stage duration. Simply remove the pistol grip side plates and it’s all right there. I found the trigger to be very predictable and lend to the superb accuracy of the Woods Walker. It broke in the same place every time, but was able to be set light enough to surprise me a few times… so take care in your adjustments. The bolt action was very smooth to cycle, but required moderate force.

The high pressure air (HPA) permanent reservoir in the Woods Walker is fillable up to 3,000 psi, although Crosman now recommends you fill it to 2,900 psi to steer clear of any valve lock. Underneath the foregrip is a monometer to keep an eye on fill pressure… and refilling is straight forward. Pop off the removable dust cover to expose the male foster fitting and fill with a SCUBA, SCBA tank, or hand pump. In my tests, I was able to get 40 usable shots, filling to 3,000 psi and shooting it down to about 1,300 psi… impressive count & curve for such a compact unit. What this means to you is a predictable spread for repeatable results. It also means that you should get about 20 very consistent shots filling to about 2,300 psi and shooting it down to about 1,400 psi… plenty for a day of hunting.

In the year that Crosman is celebrating its 90th year of designing and manufacturing airguns, the National Rifle Association recognized the company for 25 straight years of participation in the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits. Crosman is in unique company; since the NRA first included exhibits in 1949, of over 550 companies participating in the 2013 event, only 51 have 25 years or more of participation.

“We support the NRA and its principles of responsible gun ownership, education and training. The NRA show is a chance to visit directly with shooting enthusiasts about today’s airgun and airsoft products and no consumer event comes close to the attendance numbers of this show,” said Mark DeBoard, Shooting Services Manager for Crosman. He was on hand to accept the award on behalf of Crosman during the 2013 event.

This year the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits set a new record with over 86,000 in attendance. The organization has five million members.

What airguns were most popular among this year’s NRA show attendees? “By far our line of hunting rifles under the Benjamin brand. We also had a lot of interest in our competition products, particularly the Challenger and MAR177 AR upper,” said DeBoard. ”The enthusiasm for these products was amazing. From those new to airguns who stopped to watch our in-booth hunting highlight reel, to long-time airgunners, and even those seeking an alternative to traditional firearms due to the ammunition shortage, the activity in the booth was non-stop,” added DeBoard.

Crosman’s Shooting Services team is back on the road this week attending the world’s largest archery competition: the National Archery in the Schools Program world championship in Louisville, Kentucky.
Crosman Corporation, international designer, manufacturer and marketer of products for the shooting sports, received two Readers’ Choice Gold awards fromPredator Xtreme magazine; favorite airgun and preferred hunting pellet. The awards were announced at the 2013 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Houston, Texas and are featured in the June issue of the magazine.

According to Crosman Vice President of Marketing, Jennifer Lambert, “We’re thrilled to be recognized by the readers of Predator Xtreme magazine for our excellent hunting airguns and pellets. Especially now, when hunters are having trouble finding the ammo they need for hunting, we’re glad they know they can turn to Crosman and get the job done,” she said.

Predator Xtreme magazine caters to predator and varmint hunters, and includes up-to-date information on predator calling, hunting and the gear used to be successful in the field.

The Predator Xtreme Readers’ Choice Awards invite readers of the Predator Xtreme magazine to select their favorite brands of hunting gear. “Our goal is to tip off our readers to what has been proven to work best for hunters nationwide,” says Mike Kizzire, Grandview Media and Predator Xtreme magazine publisher. “You’ll read the kind of insight that cuts through the advertising glitz and glam to help you become a better hunter. Also, you’ll have spent your hunting-gear money wisely the first time around,” he comments. Official survey results with details about the winning products appear in the June 2013 issue.

Tim Anello and Dave Poteat of Inside Outdoors TV, both Benjamin Prostaffers and Crosman Partners, were heading east from Oklahoma for their spring turkey tour and gave us a call from the road. The guys were headlining the Capital City Christian Sportsmen’s Dinner in Frankfurt, Kentucky and asked if Crosman would like to support them. Over 1,000 were expected to attend and hear them talk about hunting and time in the woods spent with family and friends, and because we’re all about taking it outside, we got on board.

The girls pictured above won a Pumpmaster kit and Pink Pumpmaster kit, complete with ammo, targets and shooting glasses. “These girls are from China and were adopted by a family one year apart from each other. Their Dad convinced them to come and because of your generosity we were able to bless two young ladies that evening,” wrote Jon Sutphin, Associate Minister at Capital City Christian Church.

The 2013 Roosevelt Games took place recently in Georgia and this year the event added Air Rifle to the multi-sport Paralympic-style competition for veteran and active duty military service personnel with physical disabilities. The event is produced by BlazeSports America. According to the Griffin (GA) Daily News, sixteen soldiers competed in the air rifle competition at the Ole Mill Range Complex, “one of only three USA Shooting – the governing body of the Olympic shooting sports – Certified Training Centers for Rifle.” The local coordinator was Roy McClain.

“Roy McClain was one of the original instructors that gave us input into the design of the Challengers,” said Mark DeBoard, Shooting Services Manager for Crosman. ”He now uses the Challenger exclusively for his sporter program,” added DeBoard. Crosman Challengers were widely used in the Roosevelt Games.

BlazeSports reports “Jonathan Moore of Team Blaze took top honors (and) Fort Stewart won the Team Award.”

The Crosman Challenger recently made news at the JROTC National Championship with winner Hunter Cushman setting several records with it.

Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) cadets from across the country were in Anniston, Alabama last month to compete in the National JRTOC Championships. Getting to the event is an impressive feat itself with over 7,300 cadets competing nationally in regional Civilian Marksmanship Program events. The top 890 moved on to their branch’s Service Competition and the top 212 from that event competed at the National Championship.

The Crosman Challenger has become the rifle of choice for Sporter Class shooters for its two-stage adjustable trigger, three-position stock, ambidextrous bolt handle and Lothar Walther barrel. Winners are determined based on aggregate scores over two days of shooting.

Shooting the Crosman Challenger, sixteen year old Hunter Cushman won the Sporter Division with an aggregate score of 1222.8. During his title run Cushman, of King George High School in King George, Virginia, broke three new Navy JROTC national records to include the kneeling record with a score of 193-7.

Crosman congratulates all the participants for their achievements in shooting. If you are an instructor or operate a shooting program and would like to learn more about the Crosman Challenger Sporter air rifle, please contact Mark DeBoard at 800-7AIRGUN. The Challenger air rifle has special club pricing and is also available through Crosman’s EASY Program (Kit #11).

When the annual science fair came around for 13 year old Leo Damico, he opted to present on something very familiar to him: airguns. Specifically, airgun pellet performance.

My science fair project was to measure the accuracy, velocity and speed of different airsoft pellets. I only used Crosman equipment and pellets. I have included a picture of my awards and medals of what happened to me after being in various science fairs.

I first attended my Middle School science fair in February of 2013 in Ohio. Only a handful of students were to move on to Districts to compete at a higher level. I was one of the students chosen to move onward. Also, I was the only student to be awarded the “Big Bang” award for outstanding experiment!

After moving on to the District Science Fair Completion, my surprises continued. I was the only 7th grader in the entire district to be awarded the “Naval Science Award”. The Office of Naval Research sponsors scientific research for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. ONR has a long history of sponsoring science that changes the world, from past discoveries like the magnetic core memory that is the basis of every computer, to GPS in the ‘80s and to the smart robots that searched the wreckage of the World Trade Center. I was honored to win the award!!

I could not have performed and measured the results of my science fair project without your quality product. I thank you for your product and look forward in seeing what your company puts out in the future!!!

Congratulations Leo and maybe one day you’ll be an engineer designing the next great Crosman product!
