Welcome! We’re really glad you’re here!<br />
Seriously. We really are.<br />
Let me first congratulate you on your new desire for fitness! We’ve all been exactly where you are. It takes some serious guts to walk into our doors! Not because CrossFit is scary or hard… but because you made the decision that you wanted to get healthier, stronger, faster, or lose some weight. We all commend the courage it takes to get to the gym for the first time. Good on you!<br />
Now, here’s what you need to know.</p>
<ol>
<li>We’re here to struggle WITH you. Everyone in your classes is working out for some reason. It might be vastly different than yours, or it could be very similar. Whatever the reason is, they’re right there beside you sweating their butt off and working hard. We ask that never feel alone, worried, or scared. You have a big support crew everyday at the box.</li>
<li>It’s ok to fail. There will be times when you can’t stand up a weight. There will be times when you don’t finish the WOD under the time cap. There will even be times when you have to stop. It’s ok! We ask that you don’t get discouraged. Fitness is a long journey full of ups and downs. We’ll help you through it! Promise!</li>
<li>You’re not going to know everything. That’s ok! Ask us for help. That’s why we’re here.</li>
<li>Attempt to get the healthy option at each meal. Maybe skip the pizza for chicken and salad. Try to drink water instead of soda. Make small adjustments that will help you out in the gym. If you’re unsure of how to do this… refer to #3 <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2.4/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></li>
<li>Remember why you started. Create a daily reminder for yourself about why you started your fitness journey in the first place. It’s easy to get unmotivated or make excuses to skip the gym. Remember what that motivation was to begin a new chapter of self-improvement.</li>
<li>Work hard. Be nice.</li>
</ol>
<p>I could keep this list going on for a long time… but I think you get the gist of things. You’re not alone in this new chapter of your life. We’re here to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. Let’s work hard together and have an awesome time doing it!</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Karen Kuzik is March&#8217;s MOTM. She&#8217;s been with us for a year now. Known for her running and competitive spirit, she also enhances the community with her personality.</p>
<p>Karen has always pushed herself, but this year, during the Open, she was given a challenge and she took it seriously. Looking at the Open leaderboard, it&#8217;s easy to see how her intensity increased along with her standings.</p>
<p>We asked Karen to write up a little something to share with our readers.</p>
<p>&#8220;It’s been one year since I started at CrossFit Saint John. During my first class I was in awe, albeit slightly intimidated, but the coaches and the community were so supportive and encouraging it gave me the confidence to see what I could do. I quickly realized CrossFit was a great fit for me. Whether you’re a competitive athlete that likes that drive you get from others or you just want to see what you are capable of and watch how far you’ve come – it’s incredibly rewarding.</p>
<p>CrossFit has given me something my running and other gyms couldn’t – a stronger me. The amazing coaches and those I work out with, push me a little harder everyday. That push is often a little outside my comfort zone – but it gives me the results I love! There are so many strong, inspiring people at CrossFit Saint John…I’m addicted to their energy and I am just trying to keep up.&#8221;</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Peeps. Loads of you expressed interest in a cardio WOD with Ultimate Frisbee. I&#8217;ve been given permission to take over Saturday morning&#8217;s WOD to do it. Everyone meet at Shamrock lower field at 9 am. It will be loads of cardio and sprinting. I plan on two hours but will put a break in at one hour for anyone looking to leave. All you need is sneakers, cleats if you have them, a dark shirt and a light shirt. Bring water.  No Ultimate experience required. You will be tired. I can&#8217;t wait.</p>
<p>Any of the gym members with discs please bring them.  We&#8217;ll end the training session with a scrimmage.</p>
<p>Here are directions from the gym to the field.  The essense is to come along Main St North until it ends, continue right onto Bridge Street, which turns into Spar Cove Rd.  There is a big gravel parking lot on your right for the field at Shamrock park.</p>

<p>The Games are about to start. If you are new to CrossFit, you are starting during exciting times. The CrossFit Games have evolved from the days of a group of athletes meeting for friendly competition, to a full on sport of fitness.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s amazing to watch these athletes work, and we can only hope it&#8217;s inspiring to all and drive you to train harder.</p>
<p>Many over the years have reluctantly added their name to the registration list. It&#8217;s a bit intimidating and we understand that it&#8217;s easier to sit back and watch. But it&#8217;s certain if you speak to anyone who&#8217;s participated over the years, they&#8217;ve gained a new perspective on their daily workouts, and have found a new motivation to fuel their fire.</p>

<p><strong>We will be running the Open WODs on Fridays, and Saturday mornings at 10am. The regular Saturday WOD will be held at 9am, and anyone who is present will be encouraged to stay and support those who will need your cheers.</strong></p>
<p>If you cannot make these days, you need to email us and make special arrangements. Each athlete performing these WODs will have a coach to themselves. The only your performance can be verified online is by having a judge/coach present.</p>
<p>We need help with judging. There is an online course that needs to be completed first. If you do complete this course please let us know so we can add you to the list of people ready to help out.</p>

<p>Take some time to go through the Games website, watch videos, read about some of the athletes and the challenges they&#8217;ve each overcome. There&#8217;s something for everyone.</p>

Whenever you are in the gym we are helping you improve, we know your strengths and weaknesses and help 100% of the time.</p>
<p>I you want to improve on something, just ask us.</p>
<p>Not only that, we can help with any nutritional advice you need, at any time! You can email us with questions or concerns and you will get an answer, this is a service that is included in your membership, it is part of what we offer.</p>
<p>There is no limit on the amount of help we offer. We are here for our athletes at all times because we really want you to keep improving and to meet your health and fitness goals.</p>
<p>We are constantly improving our skills and education to keep helping you. At CrossFit Saint John, we care an you are in good hands!</p>

<p>Also, we have not been having any interest in the 11 am session. Actually no one has been attending the past 2 weeks. The 11am session is gulping to be turfed if significant interest is not shown.</p>
