Tuesday Night - ICE

Hi Everyone!

A few years ago, my friend Ehren and I went to a theater and watched Al Gore's global warming movie, "An Inconvenient Truth." Yikes! Temperatures rising, ice melting, grain fields roasting, oceans rising, Holland... pretty much gone. For a while, I feared for the life of my children and grandchildren, and I was just about to become an activist... when it occurred to me that it would be way easier to just become a Republican. (That last part there is a joke... not that being a Republican is a joke... I, umm, I'll stop now.)

Anyway, I've been looking at what God wrote to an ancient church filled with Jewish people who were facing a really scary world, and I found something amazing! The greatest danger to our planet is not Global Warming, a nuclear Iran, murderous Al Qaida terrorists, a deadly plague, a stray asteroid, or even an ancient Mayan calendar counting down to December 21, 2012. According to the writer of Hebrews, the greatest threat to our planet is...

Dinner & Worship!

Hey Everyone

We are so excited about where God is leading Encounter Christian Church

Tonight, come and join us for a Mexican Dinner and a chance to connect with caring, fun people. We'll meet at 6:00PM at Majestic Oaks Church located on Grant Street about two blocks north of 120th Ave. in Thornton!

Then plan to stick around for an inspiring worship experience that will kick off at 7:00PM sharp. We'll be done by 8:15. Kids will enjoy an exciting children's church during the adult worship experience, so please bring the whole family!

Transition - VERY IMPORTANT

Hi Everyone,

This week brings two important transitions as we live out our passion to help people encounter Jesus:

1. We will have our main worship gatherings starting this week on Tuesday night at 7:00pm at the Majestic Oaks facility. So this Saturday/Sabbath, instead of having our regular worship experience, you're invited to join Stephanie and me up at Estes Park for a picnic, hike, and a time of prayer, and spiritual reflection. 2. Crosswalk and Majestic Oaks Church, have joined forces to become one church family, and we've decided to express our united mission in our new name...

You may be asking, "why are we making this transition?"

Great question.

Here are a three answers:

1. Metro Denver is one of the most unchurched places in the United States. People are interested in Jesus, but they are more committed to their active lifestyles and getting into the mountains on the weekends. So, since most people are not available on the weekends, we are going to try and reach them during a slower weeknight... Tuesday!

2. Jesus prayed that believers would be one in Him (John 17). We are uniting with our sister church, Majestic Oaks, because we share the same Lord and the same vision for the same community. Uniting just makes sense.

3. Pastors are more effective working as a team. We'll use our unique personal strengths to focus everyday on the specific roles God built us to do. As a team of pastors, we can create and launch lots of opportunities for people to encounter Jesus. And we can encourage and support each other when times are tough. Jesus always deployed people in teams during his ministry on earth (See Mark 6:7 & Luke 10:1). We're doing our best to follow his plan.

90-day test drive

We know stepping out of old traditions and habits can sometimes feel like trying to turn the heads on Mount Rushmore. So we are asking you to plan on being with us on Tuesday nights for the next 90 days. See if God is using this odd time to make an unusual difference in people's lives. If He is, stick around!

Along the way, consider inviting someone to come check us out! And please know, just you being with us is such a huge gift.

MAGNIFICENT!

Have you ever been in a situation where you knew you had to be... well... perfect? Just before you jump off a high rock into a small pool, you take a breath and think, "This better be perfect." The room just got quiet, it's time to make that presentation that could change your life, you close your eyes for a second and mumble, "I have to be perfect." A beautiful newborn gazes into your eyes for the first time, and you pray with all your heart, "God, I want to be perfect."

Absolute perfect feels impossible to achieve for even a second. Now imagine that the fate of everyone who has ever lived... past... present... and future... depends on you being absolutely perfect for your entire life! And then add to that pressure the idea that you have to achieve two separate perfects!

You have to be the perfect...
1. Son of Man
2. Son of God

Did I mention that if you miss perfect for even a second, everybody dies?...
Perhaps this kind of perfect deserves a better word... This week at Crosswalk, we encounter MAGNIFICENT!

No Service this Week

This week, Crosswalk will not be holding normal services at Majestic Oaks Church. Instead, we invite all of you to Heaven Fest, an all-day Christian music festival in Longmont, Colorado.

2010 Letter From The Executive Team of Heaven Fest...

We, as a leadership team that represents hundreds of INCREDIBLE volunteers, just want to come right down front street and say what Heaven Fest is about. It's about making an event that Jesus would actually like to come to. It's about giving to the poor, the exploited, the orphan, the widow, and the sexually trafficked. It's about bringing people that follow Jesus together to worship HIM. It's about planting and watering seeds of God's WORD in the hearts of people. It's an good excuse to bring people together to pray and cry out to God for GENUINE revival (we know that's a loaded word, but what we mean when we say "revival" is that the Spirit of Christ would come hang out in the Rocky Mountain Region in a HUGE, UNDENIABLE way.) Lastly, Heaven Fest is, what we call, a "hope dispenser". We want people that feel hopeless to hook up with THE SOURCE OF HOPE.... JESUS.

Straight up... the bands, the festivities and the attractions are just pieces of meat on a stick, if we can say it that way. Our heart in saying it like this doesn't de-value bands, festivities, or attractions; they are tools to gather people across generations, races, denominations, and backgrounds so that Jesus can be THE FOCUS, THE CENTER for a day in Colorado. Our hope is that the people of our region have such a REAL ENCOUNTER with Jesus, and that they are inspired to follow HIM and HIS teachings like never before. - Heaven Fest Staff

The market is dropping again, and when your 401(k) report comes in the mail, you're afraid to open it... It's time to make another house payment, but you just got laid off, and the money simply isn't there... Your child just became a teenager, and you're starting to realize that not only do you not come from the same planet, you live in a different universe... You're taking a shower, and you think you feel a lump in your breast, so you dry off quickly and with trembling hands, open the phonebook and turn to the "physicians" section... You spouse isn't home yet, and it's already 1:30am, the phone rings, it's a police officer...

Life is scary, and sometimes the spirit of fear attacks us like a predator in a dark alley. Then along comes God telling us to enter into his rest! Seriously Rest? How do we find to this oasis called Rest? On Saturday, we'll uncover answers in an ancient letter sent by God to a group of broken, frightened people... Join us as we explore TRUST.

Thursday night - Agape Dinner [Update]

Hey Crosswalk!

We trust that your week has started out well.

Just giving you an update on the potluck for Thursday night's Agape Dinner at 6 pm.

The menu has come together really from the Lord's provision!

We will have Shepherd's Pie made by Julie Bauman, for all of us who have enjoyed her cooking, know that it will be delicious! Thank you, Julie for making this! Thank you, Burgandy and Marcus for providing the meat!

Pulled BBW beef sandwiches, with buns will be available as well.

We will have fresh garden salad, the greens and Italian & Ranch dressings have been provided.

We will have cake for dessert.

AGAPE Dinner MOC & Crosswalk

Good afternoon Crosswalk family,

We trust that you have already heard that we will be having an AGAPE Dinner next Thursday, July 22nd at 6 pm at Majestic Oaks Church.

The purpose of this meal and gathering is to inform you of some exciting things happening in our midst. Pastors Don Dellos, Jason Seiber and Drew Schofield along with Zac Guerin will be sharing the vision the LORD has given them for the furthering of God's Kingdom here in the northern Denver suburbs.

Our prayer is that every family will be represented to hear about the new direction the Lord is leading us.

Rest

So much of our lives are spent working, lifting, racing, competing, surviving. And it's all for good reason! I mean, if you don't work really hard every day and look out for yourself, who's going to look out for you? But in an ancient book written to a group of frightened and worn out Hebrew believers, God tells them (and us) that our biggest challenge is to put down the weights and rest... relax... and trust in Him.

Join us at Crosswalk this week as we continue our exploration of the book of Hebrews and learn the importance of... REST.

4th of July Party

Entitlement

New Location - UPDATE

Although we do have a new location, this week we will temporarily be meeting at the D.L. Parson's Theater at 10:00am once again. For the foreseeable future after that we will be meeting at Majestic Oaks Church, located east of I-25 on 120th. For those of you who are familiar with our D.L. Parson's Theatre location, the new location is really easy to find... Instead of going south on Grant St. from 120th Ave, go about three blocks north on Grant St. The church is on the left hand side in an industrial park.
