Each year, Business NH Magazine publishes an issue highlighting NH’s Top Family Businesses. This year, we are proud to say, our very own family-owned business is featured on the cover! As pictured above, eleven family members currently work at Crown Point, though many more have worked here over the years.

Norm Stowell started this business in the family garage in 1979. Now, his commitment to handcrafting the finest quality custom cabinetry is being carried on by the next generation of Stowells. Brian Stowell took over the company in 2001 and has since made a number of changes-most notably eliminating dealers and distinguishing Crown Point as the only custom cabinetmaker in the United States that sells direct nationwide.

“You’re looking at a company that would not be here without family, if mom and dad hadn’t spent their last dime, if dad didn’t allow me to make the changes that I did,’ company president Brian Stowell says. “My greatest joys have been working with my dad, mom and brothers and sisters.”

The Top Family Business issue of Business NH Magazine is on newsstands now, or you can grab a copy online!

If you love to entertain, a custom bar area may be just what you need in your living space. Serving as a hub for making cocktails and serving wine, a well appointed bar cabinet will house all the essentials for hosting friends and family.

The inset bar cabinetry we’re featuring today was handcrafted from Maple and finished in Charleston Gray by Farrow and Ball. The homeowner is Sandra Sigman, an interior designer and owner of Les Fleur flower shop in Andover, MA. In initial design conversations, Sandra envisioned bar cabinetry that appeared to be free-standing for a vintage, furniture feel. The end product is exactly that; a custom piece that seamlessly integrates with her comfortable and stylish living space.

Some custom details include under-cabinet stemware holders, a mirror lending the look of a pass through, and cross bar storage for wine bottles.

The upper cabinets are bumped back to create a bit of a surface area for prepping. The countertop is a piece of granite salvaged from the old kitchen, honed for a more aged look. Three drawers hold essentials like corkscrews, tongs and cutting boards.

Sandra has put her own personal touches on the completed bar area with vintage wine buckets and apothecaries found at flea markets in France. With its standalone feel and custom details, this piece will be perfectly at home in Sandra’s living room for many years to come.

Do you have a vision for a custom space in your home? Contact us today and speak with one of our 21 in-house designers!
