The Prohab Helmet Society is a non-profit in Vancouver dedicated to providing helmets by donation to active individuals who wouldn't normally use them. To help fund their effort, Prohab put together a 2010 Ladies bike calender, a collaboration of artists, photographers, models, and friends. Featuring helmeted women in and around Vancouver having fun with their bikes, the 2010 Ladies Bike Calendar proves/aims to show that you can have fun–and be sexy–while being safe.

If you're into seeing gals and their bikes, then you can pick up a calender for about $23 USD shipped. Printed copies are being sent out early November, with an official release party on November 13th.

Visit Prohab Helmet Society to see more and preorder a copy today!
Read on and/or comment...

Three Hearts Club

Three Hearts Club (a.k.a. The Hash Crew) is a prominent and influential graffiti crew from Chicago, formed in the early 90's and still going strong these many years later. With a diverse membership of not only graffiti artists, but also fine artists, graphic artists and musicians, the Three Hearts Club crew is known for their smooth blend of classic graffiti with contemporary abstractions, ideas and mediums.

You've seen their work on the street, in the galleries, on skateboards, posters, books and album covers, so it's only fitting that you be able to find them on some tees, right? Well, that's what's up with Bopzink.com, the Three Hearts Club online store. You can pick up mixes, prints, and of course tees - our favorite being the Auto Drop pictured above. I just got mine in the mail today and I love it!

- Check their work at ThreeHeartsClub.com
Tone Tank and his 'Beast Hombre'

Rapper/artist Tone Tank (owner of Scumlife, member of the Nuclear Family, and one half of Iller Than Theirs) has always been obsessed with bootleg action figures. What are they, you ask? They're the weirdo generic-ish toys that you find in 99 cent stores, flea markets or wherever junk can be sold that just ain't legit. The figures tend to be ripoff superheros with mismatched body parts or purposely erroneously painted costumes, like where you think it's the Superman 'S' at first, but instead you realize it's a '5'. The variations are infinite, but as Tone noticed, nearly all of them almost always have some kind of glowing something included, and it's usually their chest.

So that brought Tone to create his own bootleg figure, the 'Beast Hombre', an orange superhero dude with a howling beast of a head and of course, a light embedded in his chest. He made only 24 of these gnarly orange dudes, hand cast in resin and they sold out f-f-f-f-fast.

So why am I mentioning this if you can no longer acquire your own? Because Tone Tank is a fucking rad dude that does a ton of rad shit, and you need to know that. Not only does he make action figures (I mean, who does that?!), he also has an ill clothing line and more importantly, all the music he's involved with is fucking DOPE. Really. Like, I thought it was gonna suck, I'll be honest, but now it's kinda my jam for real. Go check out Tone Tank on Myspace, then get some Iller Than Theirs action, 'cause there are three free downloadable EPs between the two of them that all slay. Get at it.
Read on and/or comment...

Just saw on Hoopers Electric, the blog of tattoo artist and painter Thomas Hooper, that the merch he designed for the new Doomriders album, "Darkness Comes Alive" is now up for sale on Shirtsanddestroy.com and needless to say, they rule. Plus, they're only $14, so you've got plenty of bones left to buy the LP from DeathwishInc.com. God, I can't wait to see that cover art on a big 'ol 12" sleeve!

As an added bonus, check out these two tracks off the album:

~ Doomriders "Crooked Path" (direct mp3)
D*Face Installation at Jonathan LeVine

To complement the exquisite corpse theme of London-based sculptor and street artist D*Face's site-specific installation at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC titled "Ludovico Aversion Therapy / All Your Dreams Belong To Us", the artist has unveiled on opening night an 8’ x 12’ piece in an unfinished state that will change over time. Beginning with an image of the artist’s own eyes, D*Face plans to add additional layers individually over the exhibition’s run (thru October 10th), so that visitors may return to see the work develop gradually into it’s completed state.

More info on the show following the jump!
Read on and/or comment...

A couple great new videos that I had to make sure got seen. The first is a great new narrative from Cinnamon Chasers to accompany their subtle track "Luv Deluxe". The second is the video for "Seven", the latest single from Fever Ray, featuring yet more of their signature chilling, creepy, superb imagery. Watch the videos and download the MP3s after the jump!
Read on and/or comment...

Riot Tuxedo

There are a lot of small tee labels out there doing one-color, scrawly illo prints in the vein of classic 70s-80s punk and metal tees, Actual Pain being one of our faves (so much so they were 'adopted' by CrownDozen longtime favorites, Mishka). Well, fairly recently I stumbled upon the lookbook of young upstarts Riot Tuxedo, a crew of two making some absolutely perfect tees in their nasty simplicity. Printing badass, oldishly-new nasty skate-metal tees, reminiscent of shit the weird kid in high-school drew on the back of his notebook, these guys deliver a tee line that instantly hit the mark in my crusty, black heart.

These dudes print their tees up in a manner that looks and feels truly vintage, and that's before they're hand-distressed by Riot Tuxedo's own claws and paws. It all makes for an instant fave in your closet - one you better watch close when some slinky sleepover asks for something to wear the morning after, or you've got your fave crust band crashing at your place after a show, 'cause these shits'll be vapor...

So check 'em out at RiotTuxedo.com, and if you'd like to read more about Brian Anderson, the dude behind the curtain at RT, then check the quickie interview after the jump!
Read on and/or comment...

Daisy De Villeneuve for TFL

TFL = Transport For London = tube lines never functining = iconic tube (subway for those across the pond) symbols = lots more

Well, TFL has regular makeover and when they launched their new ticketing system, they had nothing but free Tracy Emin card holders distributed to random dazzled passangers.

The current makeover is by daughter-of-semi-famous-parents extraordinaire (very common title where it does not matter if you have anything at all to say as long as your lineage is even remotely rock and roll) Daisy De Villeneuve.
Health "Die Slow" Video

Just took the time to finally watch the video for "Die Slow" off 'Get Color', the new album from noise assailants Health and had to share it.
