I am telling you now that the 2010-2011 is going to be a big cruise season for Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Port Everglades will welcome new ships, itineraries, and passenger services.

Royal Caribbean International's Allure of the Seas which is sharing the title of largest cruise ship in the world with Oasis of the Seas will begin sailing every Sunday year-round on December 5. Holland America Line's Nieuw Amsterdam November 6 and Yachts of Seabourn Queen Elizabeth January 16.

Port Everglades is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. It is expected to pass the Port of Miami as the number one cruise port in the world in the next few years.

If you're picking up returning cruise passengers you have a free and convenient place to wait. The waiting lot is located at the Port Administration Building.

There Is Definitely Something Magical About The Carnival Magic

Did you know that Carnival has a new ship that is scheduled to begin service in May. The Carnival Magic at 130,000 tons will be able to carry 3,690 passengers. This ship will divulge some firsts for Carnival.

Among them are the first-ever pub, an authenic trattoria, and an expansive outdoor sports complex.

Carnival Magic's Caribbean-themed Red Frog Pub will have ThirstyFrog Red, which is a private-label beer brewed especially for the Carnival Magic. The 100-seat indoor/outdoor pub is located on Promenade Deck 5 and will offer Caribbean favorites such as Bahamian Conch Salad and Firecracker Jamaican Chicken Wings. You will aslo be able to taste Caribbean rums and beers. Doesn't it sound yummy?

Anybody up for a game of foosball? If your answer is yes, you can play at RedFrog Pub.

Cucina del Capitano which is Italian for "The Captain's Kitchen" will pay homage to Carnival's Italian captains. The trattoria will offer pastas, risotto, and Italian specialities with many recipes selected by Carnival's captains.

The SportsSquare complex will feature the cruise industry's first ropes course where guests can transverse across nets suspended above Spa Deck 12. There will be views to the sea nearly 150 feet below. The complex will also include the first outdoor weightlifting area on a cruise ship.

The Carnival Magic will have almost 20,000 square feet of space catering to kids and families. This ship will offer staterooms that can sleep five guests and has two bathrooms.

The Carnival Magic will make its debut in Europe in May with 7 to 12-night Mediterranean cruises until October. In October 2011, there will be a 16-night transatlantic crossing.

After the transatlantic crossing the Carnival Magic is going home to Galveston, Texas for 7-night Caribbean cruises beginning November 14, 2011.

Holland America Line: Nieuw Amsterdam

Holland America Line christened its second Signature-class ship, the Nieuw Amsterdam last month in Venice, Italy.

This is the fourth ship to carry the Nieuv Amsterdam name. With the Nieuw Amsterdam, Holland America Line now has 15 ships in its fleet. This is the final Signature-class ship scheduled to be built for HAL. Then again you never know because HAL loves to please its returning guests. Returning guests make up half of all guests

The Nieuw Amsterdam is similar to its sister ship, the Eurodam that launched in 2008. The Nieuw Amsterdamdecor reflects New York City which was once called Nieuw Amsterdam by its Dutch founders.

Nieuw Amsterdam has more veranda suites than any other Holland America Line ship except the Eurodam. The suites are furnished with over-sized king-size beds and contemporary leather furniture.

Holland America Line offers "As You Wish" dining which includes speciality restaurants and more traditional seating times. Nieuw Amsterdam's main restaurant, the two-level Manhattan Dining Room on Decks 2 and 3 is opened for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for formal dining. The other main dining venue is the Lido Restaurant which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual setting on Deck 9.

If you love Italian food like I do you must visit Canaletto. It is a part of the Lido restaurant dining area that is transformed at night for no extra charge. Nieuw Amsterdam also offers in-stateroom dining service 24 hours a day at no extra charge.

One of HAL's Signature of Excellence innovations is the Culinary Arts Center presented by Food & Wine magazine on the Lower Promenade Deck 2. This state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen features gourmet cooking lessons from HAL master chefs and celebrity guests.

Holland America Line wasn't always known as a family-friendly line but times have changed. On the Nieuw Amsterdam Panorama Deck 10 is Club HAL. Club HAL is a youth facility and activity center that offers supervised programming and dedicated areas for three groups of children: age 3-7, 8-12, and teens.

You will find the ship's largest pool on Lido Deck 9 which also has three Jacuzzis with cabanas. On this deck you also find the Greenhouse Spa and Salon that provides a wide variety of beauty and wellness treatments. Godmother Camilla Visits Cunard's Queen Victoria

Royal Caribbean Has New Port In Historic Falmouth Jamaica

With the opening of the historically themed cruise port early 2011 in Falmouth, Jamaica cruise passengers will find a convenient starting point for excursions in either Montego Bay or Ocho Rios.

The first ship to be hosted at this $417 million port will be Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas in January. This project is a result of a partnership between Royal Caribbean and the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ). There will be a second port that will be able to accommodate the world's largest ship that can carry 5,400 passengers, Oasis of the Seas.

There will be two large cruise ships daily at Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, and Falmouth for a total of six. The port is scheduled to be finished in phases with a completion date of 2014.

"Historic Falmouth" will include a well landscaped park and waterfront that will be for tourists and residents. The waterfront is a National Heritage Site and considered one of the the Caribbean's best-preserved historic districts. There will be Jamaican restaurants and cafes, shops, boutiques, and craft markets.

Guests will have a chance to have an organized or informal walking tour, which will include seeing the one-time home of Victorian-era poet Elizabeth Barrett. The Barrett home is adjacent to the cruise port. The Barrett family lived in Jamaica for centuries and owned sugar plantations that relied on slave labor.

The terms of the partnership with PAJ is that Royal Caribbean guaranteed a minimum of 667,000 passengers annually for ten years. Royal Caribbean will rent land from PAJ which will own the land and port.

Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act Signed by President Obama

President Obama signed the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act today, which began new regulations for cruise ships. This was a great day for the International Cruise Victims Association, which was formed by relatives of people who died, disappeared, or were crime victims on cruises.

The Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act will require 42-inch guard rails, peep holes in every passenger and crew member's door, on-deck video surveillance and an emergency sound system. There will be a connection between the cruise industry, the FBI, and the Coast Guard. Each ship will have to maintain a log book, which will record all deaths, missing individuals, alleged crimes, and passenger/crew complaints regarding theft, sexual harassmaent, and assault.

Cunard's Queen Victoria to Host Visit by Godmother Camilla

Today Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall will pay her second visit to Cunard's Queen Victoria since she named it in December 2007. This is the first time the ship calls at Liverpool. She will tour the ship and help Cunard celebrate the 170th anniversary of its first ship setting out from Liverpool in July 1840.

She will be escorted onboard by Captain Paul Wright. The duchess will also meet many crew members. At noon she will sound the whistle from the bridge.

The event will end with a reception in the Queens Room where Camilla will cut the cake. This reception will be attended by the Lord Mayor Liverpool, and other civic dignitaries, as well as passengers on the ship.

Back To Bermuda For Holland America in 2011

Next year Holland America will offer 24 seven-night roundtrip cruises to Bermuda from New York on the Veendam. The premium cruise line returned to regular Bermuda service from New York after more than 25 years. The first voyage will be May 1, 2011 and visit the ports in St George's and Hamilton through October 9, 2011.

Carnival:The Fun Ships Becomes the Funny Ships

By the end of the year Carnival will have comedy clubs on all twenty-two ships. The Punchline Comedy Club was introduced last year on the Carnival Dream and will feature established comedians as well as amateurs.

All of the line's aft show lounges will be converted to Punchline Comedy Clubs with a special stage. There will also be branded glassware, menus, employee uniforms, and other items with the Punchline Comedy Club logo.

On each cruise there will be five to ten shows that last for 35 minutes with atleast two comedians performing nightly. The early evening shows will be for the whole family, while late shows will be for adults.

The 2,124-passgenger Carnival Spirit will have a series of 5 - and 9-night Mexican Riviera cruises in Fall 2011. The ports of call will be Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and La Paz.

On December 2, 2011 the Carnival Spirit will sail on a 15-night cruise roundtrip from Los Angeles. There will be day-long stops at five ports: Hilo, Maui, Honolulu, Kauai, and Kona.

Carnival Cruise Lines will introduce new 7-night "Exotic Eastern Caribbean" cruises from Tampa and Jacksonville in 2011.

From Jacksonville, the 2,052-passenger Carnival Fascination will cruise to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, and Nassau. There are a limited number of sailings between April and September 2011.

From Tampa, the 2,124-passenger Carnival Legend will cruise to Half Moon Cay, Nassau, and Key West. There are a limited number of sailings between May and October 2011.

Two of the November sailings on the Carnival Pride have been canceled since Carnival Cruise Lines decided to send the ship into dry dock early. The two canceled sailings were scheduled to depart on November 7th and November 14th from Baltimore going to the Bahamas and Port Canaveral. Carnival will offer two additional voyages departing January 23rd and January 30th.

The Port of Baltimore, which is officially known as Cruise Maryland Terminal is definitely geographically desirable. It's the closest East Coast port to you if you live in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indianapolis, or Chicago. Just a three-hour drive from the New York City metropolitan area and DC is only 40 miles away. You can drive to this port in about 10 minutes from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI).

Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas Returning to New Orleans

The Voyager of the Seas will have a home in New Orleans in 2011. This Royal Caribbean International ship will be the largest cruise ship to ever call the Big Easy home.

There will be twenty-four departures between November 2011 and April 2012. The 3,114-passenger Voyager of the Seas will sail Saturdays on 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries.

Royal Caribbean International had a ship in New Orleans from 2002 until Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. After the storm, RCI completed one winter season in New Orleans (2006-2007).

The Voyager of the Seas will be located at the newly renovated Julia Street Cruise Terminal. A $12-million dollar project is presently under design to convert two smaller terminals at Julia Street into one large terminal. The improvements will include a new climate-controlled gangway to be completed in Summer 2011.

Every year many new ships come out but one is always the most popular. Last year it was Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas but this year it's going to be NCL's Norwegian Epic.

What's so special about the Norwegian Epic especially for a person that has cruised on many ships?

The Norwegian Epic is 153,000 tons and it can carry 4,200 passengers based on double occupancy. This ship will sail the Eastern and Western Caribbean roundtrip from Miami on Saturdays. If you choose the Eastern Caribbean itinerary you will sail to: Philipsburg, St Maarten, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Nassau Bahamas. The Western Caribeean itinerary will take you to Costa Maya, Mexico, Roatan Bay Islands in Honduras, and Cozumel, Mexico. If you can't make a decision between the two itineraries you can combine them for a wonderful 14-night cruise.

The best part about the family deck area is that it's close to the Kid's Crew Zone.

New NCL Homeports: Rome and Tampa

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that its 2011-2012 winter/spring deployment will include two new seasonal homeports of Tampa and Rome (Civitavecchia) which are both a first time for NCL.

Passengers can sail from Tampa on the Norwegian Star on a 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary which includes Honduras, Belize, Mexico, and two days at sea. There will be departures from October 15, 2011 to April 11, 2012.

In Europe, the Norwegian Jade sets sail from Rome on 11-night Mediterranean and Holy Land cruises, along with 10-night Eastern Mediterranean sailings from October 15, 2011 to April 11, 2012. The Mediterranean and Holy Land itinerary offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Turkey, Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt. There are also four days at sea for plenty of relaxation.

A New Ship For Carnival's Dream Class

A new 3,690 passenger ship scheduled for a maiden voyage in Spring 2012 will be named Carnival Breeze. The 130,000-ton ship will be the third in the line's Dream Class. The first ship in the class was Carnival Dream which entered in 2009. Carnival Magic is the second ship and will make a debut in Europe on May 2011.

Carnival Breeze will offer some new elements created especially for this vessel and will be detailed later.

There will be expansive facilities for children and teens and spa lovers will definitely appreciate the 23,750 square foot Cloud 9 Spa.

The Lanai, is an outdoor promenade with whirlpools that extend over the ship's sides.

Carnival Breeze will have an indoor/outdoor cafe and live entertainment venue called Ocean Plaza.

Carnival Dream

Carnival Dream at 130,000 ton is the biggest in Carnival's fleet and it's definitely a dream come true. Due to the hype of Royal Caribbean's 225,000 ton Oasis of the Seas the Carnival Dream hasn't received the attention that she deserves.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Carnival has some of the roomiest staterooms at sea. The Carnival Dream has 1,823 staterooms and suites that accommodate 3,646 passengers double occupancy. Carnival Dream has 65 spa staterooms and suites located near the Cloud 9 Spa. The spa rooms include unlimited access to the spa, complimentary fitness classes, and more.

New to Carnival are the deluxe oceanview staterooms aimed directly at the family market, with five berths and two bathrooms. Another new category is the cove stateroom where the rooms have 45 square foot balconies that are set inside the hull rather than extending out. These balconies are closer to the waterline and more affordable.

DINING:

There are two bilevel main dining rooms named Crimson and Scarlet for their color schemes. The menus feature six appetizers and soups, two salads and six entrees each night. The main menu also features spa, vegetarian and children's selections. Carnival's Your Choice Dining allows guests to select fixed dining times of 6 or 8:15 p.m. or Your Time Dining anytime between 5:45 and 9:30 p.m.

Casual dining is available and there are many stations and mini-buffets. There is a new pasta bar and a station called Taste of Nations features a different cuisine every day.

The Carnival Dream has a 139-seat Chef 's Art Steakhouse and the cover charge is $30 per person . Non-meat eaters will enjoy lobster tail or Chilean sea bass.

If you get hungry anytime 24-hour room service is available with many new items on the menu.

PUBLIC AREAS:

The main atrium feels larger and more open than on other Carnival ships. The new Ocean Plaza, a lively day and night eating and entertainment center has plenty of live entertainment. There is also wireless internet and FunHub, a new onboars social network where guests can touch base with traveling companions or meet new friends with similar interests.

In this area there is the Lanai, a half-mile open-air promendade lined with deck chairs and punctuated by four whirlpools that extend over the side of the ship. The Encore! show lounge accommodates 1,964 passengers at a time. The Burgendy Lounge, a 425-seat club offering comedy shows throughout the night with the final two shows at 11 p.m. and 12:15 a.m being rated R for adults only.

For the first time ever, Disney Cruise Line will offer Alaskan cruises during a four-month season in summer 2011. These 7-night sailings will be aboard Disney Wonder.

Combining the natural wonder and the family-friendly experience provided by Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Wonder will depart out of Vancouver, BC and visiting Inside Passage ports such as Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway.

Before and after the summer 2011 season in Alaska, the Disney Wonder will sail 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.

Allure of the Seas

The sister to Royal Caribbean's highly publicized Oasis of the Seas will arrive this coming December. She will share the title of world's largest ship. On December 12th she will depart Sundays on alternate 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.

Celebrity Eclipse

This 122,000 ton, 2,850 passenger sister to the well-received Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox will have its maiden voyage on April 26th. It will sail through the Mediterranean and Northern Europe from Southampton, England.

Costa Deliziosa

This 92,700 ton, 2,260 passenger ship is a twin to the Costa Luminosa.

On February 23rd when this ship is christened in Dubai it will be the first time in an Arabian city. The Costa Deliziosa will be in Dubai Winter 09-10 with 7-night cruises. This ship and the Costa Luminosa are smaller than other Costa ships. These two ships are aimed at more upscale clientele on higher-end voyages such as those in the Middle East.

Costa Deliziosa will boast 1,130 cabins and suites, a two-level spa, 718 veranda cabins, and 50 suites.

MSC Magnifica

In March, MSC Cruises will introduce this 92,400-ton, 2,518 passenger cruise ship. This is the fourth ship in the Musica class. This ship will be christened in Hamburg and sail year round in the Mediterranean.

MSC Magnifica will feature the MSC Aurea Spa and have three swimming pools-including one with a retractable dome for use during inclement weather. Some of the highlights of this ship are five restaurants, numerous bars, and a 1,200-seat theater. The 18 suites are about 270 square feet and also have bathtubs.

The ship will sail starting March 1st with a 4-night cruise from St. Nazaire, France to Hamburg, and then a 13-night positioning cruise to Venice from where it will operate 7-night "Turkish Treasures & Croatian Coasts" roundtrip voyages to Bari, Katakolon, Izmir, Istanbul and Dubrovnik.

Norwegian Epic

This is bound to be one of the most popular in the Class of 2010. NCL's 153,000-ton, 4,200 passenger Norwegian Epic will have so much to offer. The New Wave staterooms, which are small studio staterooms that share a living room, a large villa complex with 60 suites and villas on two private decks at the top of the ship.

This ship will have an ice bar, Spice H20 for entertaining passengers day and night. This ship also has six bowling lanes in two venues, 20 dining options, and 20 bars and lounges. Entertainment options include Legends in Concert live tribute show, Blue Man Group, Cirque Dreams and Dinner, and The Second City.

The maiden voyage will be a 7-night transatlantic cruise departing June 24th from Southampton, England and will arrive in New York City on July 1st. Seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami begin July 10th.

Queen Elizabeth

Cunard's 90,400 ton, 2,092 passenger Queen Elizabeth is due in October and will feature double- and triple-height public rooms and detailed interiors with rich wood paneling, mosaics, chandeliers, marble and art deco features that give a tribute to the original Queen Elizabeth.

Most staterooms are outside and 71 percent have balconies with 12 percent Grill Suites.

A 13-night maiden voyage is scheduled to depart Southampton on October 12th on its way to the Atlantic Isles.

Seabourn Sojourn

The Yachts of Seabourn will debut the 32,000 ton, 450 guest Seabourn Sojourn in June. This ship is the sister to the Seabourn Odyssey that debuted in June 2009. It will offer 225 ocenaview suites, four dining venues, an expansive spa and six bars and lounges.

Most accommodations have private verandahs and there is a casual, open-air Patio Grill. The 11 decks accomodate two outdoor swimming pools, six outdoor whirlpools, water sports from the marina, and a private diamond showroom.

The spa which is 11,400 square feet has a hydro-pool, two herbal steam rooms, and two Spa Villas with a two-person whirlpool. The Sojourn's 28-night "Grand Voyage" sails June 6th from London to Dover. If a month is too long for you this voyage can be split into a 14-night cruise.
