PHARAOH “Bury the Light” CD and Vinyl Pre-order

Finally, the pressing plant has confirmed that the bulk copies of PHARAOH’s “Bury the Light” CD have been shipped and will reach Cruz del Sur Music’s headquarers next week (transportation limited by bad weather permitting). We can therefore start taking pre-orders, which will be shipped approximately from the 17th of February (one week before the official European release-date).

The album will be also available in a vinyl version, in collaboration with High Roller Records.
The release-date is set for the first two weeks of March (around the 10th), but due to the limited amount of copies available (150 on purple vinyl – 350 on black vinyl total), we will open pre-orders now as well.
Please mind that if you order the CD + the VINYL, the order will be sent out only when the VINYL will be available for shipment.
There’s also a special option to buy “Bury the Light” on CD together with the “Ten Years” EP and save 3,00€.

A free streaming of a second advance track taken from the upcoming PHARAOH album “Bury the Light” is now available on Cruz Del Sur Music’s bandcamp and Facebook page.

“Burn With Me” is probably the most in-your-face song on the album, and it is actually a reworking of the High Spirits‘ demo song “Set Me Free”.

“Bury the LIght” will be released on the 24th of February in Europe, and on the 6th of March in the United States/Canada.

What’s in store for the listener? Guitarist Matt Johnsen explains: “We tried to add more textural elements to our songs while continuing to cut as much extraneous material as possible. The songs on this album are dense, but hopefully they never overstay their welcome. The basic template is the same as on Be Gone, but the album is less dark overall, and perhaps a little faster. I think anyone who stuck it out with us after we shed the remainders of our obvious Iron Maiden worship after The Longest Night will be happy with our progression on this album. It’s still crammed full of traditional elements, of course, but we’re not trying to be retro or old-fashioned. We want to move melodic metal forward.”

Bible of the Devil is set to have its sixth album released on Tuesday, May 8th, 2012, via Rome, Italy based label Cruz Del Sur Music.

Veteran Chicago Rock n’ Roll band Bible of the Devil have announced the completion of their sixth full-length album and third for Rome, Italy, based label Cruz Del Sur Music. Entitled “For the Love of Thugs and Fools”, Bible of the Devil’s eagerly anticipated follow-up to their 2008 release,” Freedom Metal”, is an assembly of raging Rock n’ Roll songs that encapsulate the band’s saga musically and personally over the years since the last full-length. Returning to Phantom Manor studios in Chicago to work with engineer Mike Lust, who has engineered numerous BOTD recordings in the past, the band sought to emphasize their trademark bludgeoning two-guitar attack and mammoth hooks with an increased attention to soaring, anthemic vocals.

“For the Love of Thugs and Fools” is viewed by the band as a document of the many characters they have encountered through the life of the band, whether it be in love, loss, friendship, or hatred. Having toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe since the band’s inception in late 1999 and living in the volatile urban environment Chicago, where encounters with crime, violence, and ’street justice’ are unavoidable, there has been much subject matter for the band to draw from. Embracing the philosophy that a bottle of whiskey and some loud guitar is often the best cure available for these challenges and ordeals, Bible of the Devil have chosen to document their grievances in the form of one devastating Rock n’ Roll platter. Said singer/guitarist Mark Hoffmann, “The few years since the last full-length have been like a dare. A dare to create a soaring, punishing Rock n’ Roll record of this magnitude. It is a dare that we have been forced to answer ourselves.” Fans of Bible of the Devil can expect yet another collection of fist-pumping heavy guitar classics-in-the-making, For the Love of Thugs and Fools.

“Bury the Light” is PHARAOH’s fifth album, and features 9 new songs. It will be officially released in Europe/Rest of The World on the 24th of February 2012, and in the USA/Canada on the 6th of March 2012. The available formats to be released are CD / limited gatefold LP / digital download.
PHARAOH is formed by Matt Johnsen on guitars, former Control Denied Tim Aymar on vocals, Chris Maycock on drums and Chris Kerns on bass.

After a long wait, Cruz del Sur Music has finalized a new contract with PHARAOH for the release of three albums. “Bury the Light” is the first and much expected release of awesome metal in the typical style of this much beloved band!! It will be 10 news songs for a total of 48 minutes.

The sessions have some exceptional guest solos by Mike Wead (King Diamond) e Jim Dofka (Dofka).

PHARAOH’s “Bury the Light” will hit the streets on February 24th 2012 in Europe, and on March 6th in the United States.

We reached Matt Johnsen and Chris Black to ask some questions about the release, and to provide some comments on the album’s tracklist.

How do you think Pharaoh evolved in this new album?
Matt- We tried to add more textural elements to our songs while continuing to cut as much extraneous material as possible. The songs on this album are dense, but hopefully they never overstay their welcome. The basic template is the same as on Be Gone, but the album is less dark overall, and perhaps a little faster.

Any particular anecdote from the recording sessions?
Matt- This album took a long time to make, because shortly after the drums were tracked, our drummer and our engineer both became dads for the first time. Also, the vocals were tracked at my house while my son was only a year old. Thankfully, he doesn’t seem to mind Tim’s voice.

Do you think the fans will be ready for this new Pharaoh album?
Matt – I think anyone who stuck it out with us after we shed the remainders of our obvious Iron Maiden worship after The Longest Night will be happy with our progression on this album. The following is “Bury the Light”’s detailed tracklist with comments from PHARAOH’s band members Matt Johnsen and Chris Black:

1. Leave Me Here To Dream
Chris: Another song about death’s best disguise: sleep. And the desire for the oblivion of dreams. And the power of guitar solos.

2. The Wolves
Matt: The funny thing about the 99% is that half of them vote exclusively in favor of the 1%!
Chris: And the other half doesn’t vote at all. Yet this is a very aggressive song, probably the most aggressive song on the album.

3. Castles in the Sky
Chris: Perhaps the typical Pharaoh nugget, with lots of melodies tightly wound. Brilliant lyrics by Tim. They almost make it sound like The Man is out to get you.
Matt: The Man IS out to get you! Guest solo by Mike Wead.

4. The Year of the Blizzard
Matt: The title is literal. One year under the snow, with supplies running out. Jim Dofka solos.
Chris: An epic track that shows more 70s hard rock influence than anything we’ve done before.

5. The Spider’s Thread
Matt: Based on a short story by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Buddha gives a sinner a chance to climb out of hell, but he fucks it up.

6. Cry
Matt: Regrets love company.
Chris: It’s true. And this one was a full-band collaboration!

7. Graveyard of Empires
Matt: Afghanistan will make you its bitch!
Chris: This song made me its bitch. It’s probably the most complex and challenging song we’ve done. Written by Matt, of course.

8. Burn With Me
Matt: Creative destruction.
Chris: Along with “Cry”, this is the radio single contender. Which probably means that I wrote it.

9. In Your Hands
Chris: This one is about how people are so good at creating their own problems and yet so terrible at creating any solutions.
