Test Shoot in the Park

On a rainy NYC day, photographer Michael Isiah and I were heading to the Frieze Art Fair but, the weather had our ferry delayed. We decided to get in a quick test photoshoot with his new camera. After a while, there was still a hold on ferries so we went from the dock to a nearby park. Everything was going great and then…

He dropped it!

We were both devastated, him more than I for obvious reasons; that was his brand new baby!

Luckily, he was able to retrieve some of the photos and sent them to me. Here are a few of my faves.

I love these shots so much! He even developed a 20 x 20 of my favorite picture (the first one) for me to hang up, he’s the sweetest. I feel like this is a sign for me to get back into modeling and acting. You never know, stay tuned. ;)

Family fun night at Dave & Busters called for a casual, chill look.

This Strawberry Watermelon Frosé was so good! It’s a frozen blend of Absolut Citron Vodka, Graham + Fisk's Rosé with Bubbles, strawberry and watermelon purees, and scratch sour mix.

I had an extra shot to cut the sweetness and proceeded to reign on as the queen of Skee-ball. What’s life with all work and no play, anyway?

Heading out bowling at in Bowlero in Queens, New York, I decided to throw on the newest look from Michi Collection. I actually know the designer, she’s an absolute sweetheart and super talented. Her brand was founded in 2007 and I’ve been rocking her looks for a while. She’s been about making sure the Material Girls stay fly and I love it! Check her out.

Yacht Day - Tampa/St. Pete

I snuck out during the pandemic for a little bit, but only to visit my close sister/cousin for her birthday! We practiced safety guidelines and were tested so everything was all good! We booked a small yacht with Anchor Rides - Tampa Bay and had a great time! I think we should make it an annual thing. There’s no love like family love.

(P.S. That quarantine had me nice and thick, baby!)

Miami 2020

At the beginning of what we now know as the Covid 19 pandemic, things in the world started to change rapidly and my anxiety took a turn for the worse. I decided that I needed an escape and booked myself a flight to Miami, Florida.

I stayed at the W downtown because I was only going for a quick overnight trip. The location is close to restaurants, museums and anything else I’d need. That includes the Icon Brickell Spa: the most gorgeous spa I’ve had the pleasure of laying my eyes on so far. It was absolutely fantastic!

I was pretty tired after flying from New York and checking in to the hotel, so I decided to have a quick dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Addikt. The view was gorgeous, the air was warm but breezy, the music was bumping and the food was delicious! I made a new friend from the UK and we had a really good time. They invited me to hang out, but I was so tired I just went to bed; I had an early spa day planned anyway.

You know you’re having a great time if you go to the gym on a quick getaway. I woke up so refreshed and energized but I was too early for the spa. The gym was right next to the spa and had a gorgeous view so I figured it can’t hurt. (I should’ve been consistent in the gym years ago but, whatever.)

When I finished, I went back to my room, showered, drank a post-workout smoothie and went on my fabulous way to be pampered.

What. A. BEAUTY!!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had seen photos before, they don’t do this place justice. The ambiance was so calming as soon as I walked in the door, and once I went in the locker room, forget it. I cancelled all other plans and spent my day relaxing around in the sauna, and exploring various temperature pools and jacuzzis. I was the only person in there for a while but even when other people came, I still felt (and had a photo shoot) like I was there alone; It was THAT peaceful. The attendants were very helpful and kind, Jessica even helped me get some bomb pictures!

Before I knew it, it was time to go catch my flight back home, I thought of extending my stay but previous commitments prevented me from doing so.

It was a super short trip but as I always say, everything happens for a reason. A few hours after I landed in NYC, the country was shutting down and flights canceled. As beautiful as Miami is, I wouldn’t have wanted to be stuck there.

I can’t wait to go back and I can absolutely see myself being a regular at this hotel. Shoutout to the W! Everything a classy and fabulous woman like myself can ask for.

The Central Park Boathouse

Enjoying a beautiful summer sunset at the Loeb Boathouse im Central Park, NYC. It’s so serene and relaxing to be out on the water, just rowing away, and forgetting you’re in the concrete jungle for a while.

There’s also a restuarant making this a perfect little “getaway” that’s (beyond) romantic enough for a date.

Get Your Glow On with Neutrogena!

One of my favorite skincare and beauty brands, Neutrogena sent me a few products from their new Hydro Boost makeup and skincare line, just in time for me to get my summer glow on! Boosted with hyaluronic acid, these products promise to help increase skin moisture and reduce the appearance of aging and fine-lines.

The Hydro Boost Water Gel with sunscreen is my new favorite product! As someone with dry-combination skin, who knows better but still forgets to wear sunscreen, I couldn’t have asked for a better product. It moisturizes skin without giving that sticky feeling but still gives you a dewy glow.

The color for the Hydrating Tint and Hydrating Concealer I was sent were a bit too light for my summer color but the Hydro Boost was felt and appreciated! It applied so smoothly and absorbed into my skin with ease. All my dry-combo skin people know how hard it is to find a good tinted moisturizer or foundation that doesn’t just sit on the skin heavily or start cracking. I’m going to have to find this in my shade!

The Carré Club is Hermes' pop-up experience celebrating their fabulous silk squares. The first stop on their pop-up tour is New York City's Meatpacking District.

The immersive experience features a conceirge check-in, where you get your official Carré Club membership card. After that, you can participate in all the activities including: motion photos, live paintings, karaoke, refreshments, shopping (of course) and so much more!

The Carré Club is in NYC until Sunday, September 16.

Bastille Day 2018

To celebrate Bastille Day, the French National Day used to signify a turning point in the French Revolution and unification of the people, I threw a small picnic with an abundance of pastries, champagne and other fine delicacies.

Paris being one of my favorite cities, I always try to celebrate on my own or enjoy the festivities at the NYC Bastille Day celebration. Santé!

One sunny Sunday afternoon, I met with a good friend to try Two E Bar’s Royal Afternoon Tea service.

The Royal Afternoon Tea service included finger foods and pastries like lobster rolls, caviar on buckwheat blinis, smoked salmon on rye, scones, tartlets, macarons and more. As far as beverages, I chose the Tropical Garden tea and the Taittinger Brut champagne. Every single thing was delicious, I even had the waiter refill my teapot it was so good!

I actually bought a Groupon for Two E Bar after the facial I bought was invalid; the business closed. I always wanted to visit this place, as the Pierre’s decor is absolutely breathtaking and I’m so glad I did, I’ll definitely be a regular here.

Chinese Tuxedo NYC

I love food. Like, head over heels, mad love. So when I was invited to have dinner with friends at a place I haven’t tried, Chinese Tuxedo, I leaped at the opportunity. I'm so glad I did!

Oh. My. Everything!

They’re only about a year old but I think I just found my new favorite restaurant! Tucked away in ChinaTown, this place is breathtaking! The candles, the pink neon signs and the entire romantic ambiance was just a cherry on top of the astonishing meal I had.

I tried the crispy eggplant, spicy cucumbers, watercress salad, veggie dumplings, BBQ chicken, baby bak choi, succulent sea bass, chili crab fried rice and dungeness crab. I don’t eat red meat but I watched my friends devour the steak tartare and a cafe de chinois butter topped rib-eye steak.

Then of course, there was dessert, because there’s always room; sorbet, a creme brûlée egg custard tart and a soufflé.

Every. Single. Thing. Was. Amazing! No exaggeration. I could barely believe it.

One more cool thing about this place is the menu changes every few months. I’m so looking forward to making this place a regular and trying out new dishes, as I hear wonderful things about the scallops and prawns.

I was stuffed and satisfied beyond measure and I can hardly wait to return. Just a heads up, reservations are required.

Louis Vuitton: Volez, Voguez, Voyagez Exhibition

The Louis Vuitton Volez, Voguez, Voyagez Exhibition explores the history of the House of Louis Vuitton from 1854 to now. Divided into ten chapters, visitors embark on a journey of Louis Vuitton's storage, fashion, fragrances, collaborations and so much more.

Excellently curated, as expected with Louis Vuitton (remember the Fondation LV in Paris?), designer Robert Carson uses some of the house's most symbolic objects in this exhibition. Some of the articles shown are on loan from the Palais Galliera and the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris.

After you've traveled through the timeless collections, head downstairs to the gift shop where you can purchase items including special Louis Vuitton books, city maps, their entrancing fragrances and more.

The Coco Club

The Coco Club was a pop-up by Chanel celebrating the release of their Boy∙Friend watch collection, November 12,2017 at The Wing in Soho, NYC. Chic and exclusive, It was the classy and fabulous woman's version of a Gentleman's club.

Upon entrance, you were granted your club membership card. Then, had a mini photo shoot to produce your member ID Photo and super cute GIF reminding you to "Be a Woman to Watch."

There was a beauty room, featuring all Chanel products, to get your makeup touched up, a Café to grab refreshments and along the walls there were clocks, photos and unforgettable quotes to live by.

The Coco phone booths seemed to be a popular spot, with Instagram worthy Chanel style phones and quotes.

The library & game room were super cute, all decked out with Chanel books, stationary, table tennis, pool table and more. The "Boyfriend Bar" was up so you could browse the new watches. Even the restrooms were girly and fun; the locker room with Chanel showers and towels was a nice touch.

The Coco Club was just a one day event but amazingly embodied all the attributes of an exclusive women's-only club. I even overheard people asking about an actual membership! I can't blame them; If it was real, I would probably join myself.

I took a quick trip to Los Angeles, California to visit a friend and OMG, I had a blast. It was my first time to Cali (I know, right) and it was way more beautiful than I could have anticipated.

Since it was my first time and it was a short stay, I just focused on leisure. I ate, I shopped, I went to Melrose Place, and it was Halloween weekend so of course, I partied.

Nike Air Society is NikeWomen's network in New York, LA, Chicago and more recently Toronto. It's created and lead by powerful women to empower, connect and inspire creative-minded women through curated experiences and workshops.

The event I attended was "A Night of Inspiration," which was an evening of creativity and conversation. During the event, there was a panel of speakers, a group meditation, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and so much more.

Attendees had opportunities to get skincare tips and goodies from Dr. Jart, press flowers with FloraBrook NY, create fragrances with Maha Rose NYC and choose our mantra with a keychain from Ok Real. We also got adorable backpacks from Baggu that had acrylic frames for our Polaroids.

I'm looking forward to more Nike Air Society events, in NYC or other cities. For more information check out their website.

Although the workshops were extremely informative, the event wasn't all business, no play. There was food, photos, games, networking and so much more.

Cheers to a successful event and I can't wait to see what else Jasmine Shanelle has in store for us.

Sunday Funday - Restaurant & A Rooftop

For Sunday Funday, I had brunch a beautiful Mediterranean restaurant, Café Medi. It's located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and has one of the most beautiful interiors I've ever seen. The mural on the wall was created by a Spanish artist who was inspired by a Peruvian myth.

Next up were drinks at Hotel Indigo Rooftop/Mr. Purple, also located in the Lower East Side.

I think it's safe to say frosé is my new favorite drink for summer.

Metropolitan Museum of Art: Badass Bitches Tour

This past weekend I did Museum Hack's Badass Bitches of the Metropolitan Museum of Art tour and had such an exciting experience!

The Met is the largest museum art museum in the United States and one of the most visited museums in the world so it was nice to go on this unconventional VIP tour and explore art from a new perspective.

Our spirited tour guide started off with a brief presentation and a little background of what this Badass Bitches Tour was really about. We talked about understanding feminism, the Guerrilla Girls, how small the percentage of female artists that are displayed in the Met is and how female artists are treated as inferior, and paid as such.

Bustling through the many works (and crowds!) of the museum, we stopped along different rooms to explore the female artists' work and always got a fun backstory or little known facts about the artist and the particular pieces. One of my favorites was "Lilith" by Kiki Smith and how it relates to the origin of lullabies.

We talked about Rodin and how his works were different before and after Camille Claudel,
his assistant and lover.

In addition to learning about the art, we played fun little games, like one where we guessed what the women in paintings were thinking and created captions for them or another where we posed with sculptures for cute pictures.

Jackie O agreed to let the Egyptian tomb go to the Met so she could view
it from her penthouse. Talk about Badass!

Museum Hack's Badass Bitches of the Met Tour was far from your traditional museum tour. I had way more fun than anticipated and to be honest, it changed the way I'll look at art, even when viewing on my own. I would recommend this or any of their tours to art lovers and newbies alike. I've personally never been a fan of museum tours but I would definitely do another one of theirs.
