Anyway, I thought this would be the perfect occasion to talk about using gifts and gift cards as a part of a company’s marketing efforts. One way to stand out from the crowd is to send cards on occasions that others are not sending them. For example:

Thanksgiving — thank your clients for their business

Chinese New Year — celebrate something new or tie a promotion to whatever year it is (this year is the Year of the Rat)

Daylight Savings Time — send a reminder when it begins or ends

Administrative Professionals Day — send a gift to your client’s administrative assistant

Valentine’s Day is the traditional day in which lovers express their love for each other by sending each other Valentine’s cards, flowers and/or candy. So that you don’t have to live through an experience like the one mentioned above, I give you 10 Tips for an Amazing Valentine’s Day.

Tip #1: The Love Note

One of the best things you can do on Valentine’s Day is to write your lover a love note. Don’t send an electronic greeting or purchase a card, spend the time to write an actual, traditional love note to someone you care about. Your love note does not need to be long; however, it needs to be handwritten with some thought having gone into it. One year I composed a poem where a letter from each line spelled out my husband’s name. Then I created a heart-shaped card out of red construction paper, decorated it with some ribbon and pasted the poem in the center. He really liked that.
