On January 14th, we were honored to have the Portland Timbers come to our other facility in Springfield to host a clinic for kids ages 5 to 13. The kids were all there early sporting their soccer gear and huge smiles on their faces. Many were very excited to meet the players, others were excited to meet Timber Joey and many parents were just as excited as their kids! The day went great, the kids learned lots and we can’t wait for next year as we are hoping that they will come to Corvallis!

We are also very excited about the 2012 MLS season which through our great relationship with the Portland Timbers we will be able to offer group tickets to our outstanding customers! Make sure you watch your emails and our facebook page over the next few months! We will also be hosting numerous events at Corvallis Sports Park in which you will get the chance to win Timbers Tickets.

This tournament and its emotional highs and lows will be remembered for a long time to come. All you diehard fans know what a thrilling and ultimately heartbreaking journey it has been for our US team. Across the nation we have seen an incredible amount of support. We looked forward to the opportunity to watch each match, we recorded every second of the matches we couldn’t watch while hoping throughout the workday the final score wouldn’t be disclosed, we cheered for each goal and we never lost hope.

In the World Cup Final on Sunday both teams played a beautiful game of soccer, but after extra time and a penalty shoot out it was Japan who came away with the cup. Although it’s not the outcome many of us hoped for, we must congratulate Japan on their win. After a year of tragedy in the form of a deadly earthquake and tsunami, bringing home the world cup is a symbol of better times to come for Japan.

Despite our second place status, many of the players themselves will tell you that they have done something special for women’s soccer. Our appearance in the final game before a global audience has Americans truly excited. Nationwide we have developed an enormous amount of respect for this group of competitors.
We are in awe of Abby Wambach’s powerful athleticism, Megan Rapinoe’s deft touch, Hope Solo’s “Golden Glove” winning performance, and this team’s overall ability to never give up. As fans flooded into the Upper Deck Pub to show their support, I knew that no matter the outcome, this was ultimately a victory for women’s sports. What amazing role models we have discovered for our young female athletes.

Thank you everyone who came to watch the Women’s World Cup final. We enjoyed sharing this heart wrenching, yet magnificent experience with all of you. Again, congratulations to Japan. We’ll see you at the next World Cup.

Back when Corvallis Sports Park was first started the Owners wanted to create a place where customers could have the best social and sporting experience possible, they also wanted to give back to the community by giving them a place that was fun and could be enjoyed by players of all ages.

When we were looking to expand the business back in 2004 we looked long and hard to find a company that had the same morals and values that we did and was focused on the child and their experience and not winning and losing. We found that in the Lil Kickers program as they are a child development program first and a soccer program second.

Because Lil’ Kickers is first and foremost a child development program our purpose is really to help children mature on all levels. Our classes focus on building a strong physical, intellectual and emotional foundation that will help children be successful on and off the soccer field. We believe in teaching children in ways that suit their developmental level. So you won’t see adult-like skill drills in our classes, but you will see teaching methods specifically designed to create an atmosphere that is effective and fun. You will also see happy, confident and sweaty kids who are eager to learn and want to keep coming back for more.

We continue to be committed to children and to making a difference in the community and therefore we have created the Lil Kickers COOL program which is designed to give back to all the local non-profits and children’s programs in the area. Lil Kickers COOL will come out to any non-profit event or daycare/preschool for Free to give children a chance to play and experience soccer. We want to keep kids healthy and active.

We have already partnered with Corvallis Indoor Parks to bring a fun and safe activity to them in October and other local daycares and elementary schools. If you are interested in partnering with Lil Kickers to have us come to our next non-profit event or your daycare/preschool we would be more than happy to.

When you think back to your childhood and playing sports, do you remember winning and losing or do you remember the overall experience that you had? We want to use our time with your children to create the best experience and the best memories possible that they will carry through the rest of their lives with them.
