However, recent federal policy shifts have altered the landscape for economic immigration to Canada without public debate.
Are you finding it difficult to recruit the right employees? In the past year, the tourism industry has seen a shift from an increasing demand for its products and need for labour to a future that appears uncertain. Will this continue? How will short-term economics affect long-term labour trends?

Over the past two months, the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) and Canadian Tourism Research Institute (CTRI) conducted an online survey among Canadian tourism businesses to help identify the regional and occupational issues that will impact labour demand and supply in Canada in the coming years.

Small focus groups are now being held across the country to gather feedback from tourism industry stakeholders about the labour issues they are facing. One will be held in Ottawa on Wednesday, March 11th, from 10am until 12pm. Topics to be discussed include specific labour issues, long-term trends, the effects of the current economic situation, and tourism occupations most affected by labour shortages. Participants will be presented with preliminary findings from the online survey, as well as preliminary labour supply and demand projections by the Conference Board of Canada.

If you would be interested in voicing your opinion and discussing labour issues in your region with other members of the tourism sector, please contact:
