Pre-K Outdoor Soccer Registration Open

Ages 3-5. Now is the time to sign your little one up for some fun and challenging soccer play! This new league is looking for toddlers ready to use their soccer skills and have fun in the process. Bring your soccer ball and a friend to your new team! Teams or individuals may sign up, so come and join! Don't let your child be left out! Jersey, short and socks are included. Fee: $50/child; Course # 10165

Deadline for registration in the Pre-K Outdoor Soccer League is Monday, February 22nd. You may sign up at Charley Taylor Recreation Center with any staff member. Games will be played at the Mountain Creek Soccer Complex. League begins on Saturday, March 13th. Watch here for more updates.

Daddy/Daughter Dance Update

2/12/10 @ 12:50pm - ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT FOR DINNER. BEGINNING AT 8:15PM, DANCE PORTION ONLY WILL BE $5 PER PERSON.

2/12/10 @ 10:30am -
Event is still taking place as scheduled. Approximately 17 tickets still remain available for the event tonight if you are interested in going. Once they are gone, we will be sold out for the dinner. Online registration will stay live (due to the weather bringing down the system last night) until remaining tickets are sold out.

2/11/10 @ 5:15pm -
Approximately 17 tickets remain available for the event tomorrow night. Event is still on as scheduled. Watch here for more updates on the Daddy/Daughter Dance.

2/10/10 -
We are approaching the final hours before the Daddy/Daughter Dance on Friday. We have just under 50 tickets remaining for the event. We most likely will be sold out before the event takes place on Friday. Please watch for the latest updates regarding ticket sales. We will post here if we completely sell out before the event begins. If that does occur, no tickets will be sold at the door due to reaching event capacity. If you are interested in the dance portion of the event only...we will have tickets available for $5 per person beginning at 8:15pm.

Again, we have less than 50 tickets remaining for the event and will be closing registration at 9pm Thursday (tomorrow night) for the online registration portion of sales. 2/8/10-
Spots for this coming Friday's 13th Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance are going fast. We still have plenty of spots for now but have seen a big increase in sales today. The staff at Charley Taylor recommend purchasing your tickets early to avoid spots running out before the night of the event. This is a reminder that the online registration will close at 9pm on Thursday, February 11th. We will keep you posted on any new developments that may arise.

2/4/10-
The 13th Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance will take place next Friday, February 12th from 7pm-10pm at the Ruthe Jackson Center. Doors for the event will open at 6:00pm for those wanting pictures done before dinner. Photo packages will be available for purchase through our photographer, Extreme Photography. Dinner will begin at 7:00pm and the dance will begin at 8:00pm. For those riding the limo between 7pm-8pm, the buffet will be open until 8:15pm.

Spots are filling up very quickly for the evening. You do have two options for purchasing tickets. You may purchase online by clicking the link on the right sidebar OR you may visit Charley Taylor Recreation Center up until the end of the business day on Thursday, February 11th. If the event fills to capacity before Friday, we will post that the event is sold out. We encourage everyone to purchase early. Please watch the blog for the latest updates.

We are offering limo rides throughout the evening beginning at 6:00pm until 9:40pm. The price is $10/person and can be purchased online or at Charley Taylor until Thursday, February 11th. Limo rides are first come first serve on time slots. We will notify you if there is a conflict on the limo time you have requested. Limo tickets may not be available the night of the event if we fill all time slot spots to capacity before event begins.

Winter Break Day Camps

Have Christmas Break plans set yet? If you and your family decide to stay home during the break, send your child over Charley Taylor! We have fun activities planned from playing sports to playing games on the Nintendo Wii, arts and crafts, and much more!

The following are the dates for Day Camp in December:

Monday, December 21st - 7am-6pm
Tuesday, December 22nd - 7am-6pm
Wednesday, December 23rd - 7am-6pm
Monday, December 28th - 7am-6pm
Tuesday, December 29th - 7am-6pm
Wednesday, December 30th - 7am-6pm

We do have six days of camp planned. Field trips are still being worked out for these selected days. All campers need to bring a sack lunch each day of camp. Please also bring socks as well. Campers must be picked up by 6:00pm or before. More details will appear on this post as more information gets finalized. Fee: $16/day

13th Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance

We now entering our 13th year for the Daddy/Daughter Dance! Wow!

The event is now scheduled for Friday, February 12th from 7:00pm - 10:00pm at the Ruthe Jackson Center.

It is very early, but for those who are interested in getting your tickets to the dance, visit our link to purchase your 2010 Daddy/Daughter Dance Tickets. You may also purchase directly at Charley Taylor Rec Center as well. Two convenient locations to choose from.

Tickets are $20 per person like last year. Dinner will be served beginning at 7pm and dancing will begin around 8pm. For those interested in getting pictures at the event, we will have an professional photographer on site for an extra fee.

For those who are looking ahead, we want to provide this service to you if you wish to purchase early. More details will emerge about the event around late December-early January.

Breakfast with Santa - Sat, Dec 19th at 9AM

Have you ever wondered what Santa has for breakfast? Does he eat cookies all day, or delicious pancakes and breakfast tacos. Now you can find out! Santa is coming to town and he will be stopping by the Charley Taylor Recreation Center. Don't miss this special family holiday experience Breakfast with Santa Claus! Each child will have a Polaroid picture taken with Santa and a chance to chat with him personally for holiday requests. We will have breakfast, then do an arts and craft activity and then do pictures. Join us for a great holiday event for the whole family. Space is limited, so mark your calendars today and make this a holiday tradition!

Pre-K Basketball Registration OPEN

Day Camps This Week

We are hosting our day camps at Charley Taylor this Monday-Wednesday before Thanksgiving. However, if you are planning to send your child to the day camp, you need to check them in starting at 7am and up until 9am each day this week due to possible early departures for field trips. The rec center will be open only to day camp in the mornings and will be open to the public at normal business hours at 12noon Monday-Wednesday. The rec center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

There will be no day camp on Friday, November 27th, but the rec center will be open normal business hours on Friday from 12pm-6pm. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Pre-K Learning II Class Discontinuing

URRGENT PROGRAM CHANGE EFFECTIVE IN JANUARY 2010
The Pre-K Learning Camp II class for age 3-4 year olds will be discontinued at the beginning of the new year in January. The class will be in The Life is Grand magazine and will show the class as taking place, but the information presented here is a change from what is shown when the magazine comes out before Thanksgiving. We do encourage you if you are looking for 3-yr old programs to also look at our Pre-K Tumbling Classes on Tuesday nights or our Pre-K ESL classes both also here at Charley Taylor. Check this blog for the latest updates. Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Turbo Kick - Program Begins Nov 17th

Coming soon to the Charley Taylor gym will be Turbo Kickboxing taught by Delicia Herrera. Turbo Kick® is a combination of intense kickboxing moves as well as dance moves all perfectly choreographed to high energy and motivating music. It’s the ultimate cardiovascular challenge that’s a unique blend of intense intervals, strength/endurance training, and a relaxing cool-down. Turbo Kick® requires no previous kickboxing experience or equipment. You’ll have more fun doing Turbo Kick® than any other format.

Chalene Johnson, the creator of Turbo Kick®, is always looking for ways to increase the effectiveness and the fun factor of everyone’s workout. She has heard from many of you who love Turbo Kick®. You’ve said that you would like to be able to take the workouts with you on the road, do them at home, or just imPROve your technique so you can burn more calories.

Classes will begin on Tuesday, November 17th from 2:00pm-3:00pm in the Charley Taylor gym. Fee is $30 for the 4-week session. Sessions will be on Tuesdays during that time.
