Water mains will be flushed between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Flushing will not be done on Thanksgiving Day or the day after.

The Maine Water Company (Maine Water), a subsidiary of Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTWS), has filed a request with the Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) for an overall increase in annual operating revenues in its largest division. Maine Water is requesting an increase of approximately $1.7 million over current revenues of $4.6 million in its Biddeford and Saco Division to recover costs of increased capital investment as well as increased operating expenses. The amount requested in the case is $700,000 less in the first year than would otherwise have been required due to adoption of IRS guidance on its repair tax regulations.

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS: CTWS) announced net income of $18.9 million on total revenues of $78.7 million in all three of the Company’s business segments through the first nine months of 2014. This was an increase of approximately 15.6% from the $16.4 million of net income reported on total revenues of $75.4 million in the same segments during the same period of 2013. Connecticut Water’s earnings per basic average share (EPS) in the first nine months of 2014 was $1.74 compared to EPS of $1.51 during the same period of 2013, an increase of 15.2%.

The Company will also discuss plans for sequencing the pipeline construction and how their efforts will be coordinated with other construction work in the area once the necessary permits are secured.

The RWTP is the Company’s oldest surface water treatment plant, and has been continuously serving customers in 10 northern Connecticut communities for nearly 45 years. The quarterly cash dividend on common shares was increased to $0.2575 per quarter from $0.2475. The increased dividend will be effective with the dividend declared by the Board on common shares payable on September 16, 2014, for shareholders of record as of September 2, 2014. The Company’s dividend yield, based on an annual dividend of $1.03 at the stock market closing price on August 14, 2014, was approximately 3.2%.

Connecticut Water Service Reports Six Month and Second Quarter Earnings

Connecticut Water Service, Inc. (NASDAQ GS: CTWS) announced net income of $10.5 million in the first six months of 2014. This was an increase of approximately 51% from the $6.9 million reported in the same period of 2013. Connecticut Water’s earnings per basic average share (EPS) in the first six months of 2014 was $0.96 compared to an EPS of $0.64 during the same period of 2013. The increase was largely attributable to the application of the Water Revenue Adjustment (WRA) in the six months ending June 30, 2014. The WRA allows the Company to reconcile actual water demands with the demands projected in the last general rate case through a rate adjustment. In 2013, the first year in which the WRA was available to the Company, WRA revenues for the first nine months of the year were recorded in the third quarter as provided for in an agreement with our regulators. Had the WRA revenues in 2013 been applied on a monthly basis, as is being done in 2014, the EPS for the six months ended June 30, 2013, would have been $0.77.

The report summarizes water quality testing done in 2013 and includes information about the Company’s water systems, water quality test results, and source protection measures. Update on Construction Activity on Route 195 in Tolland

Beginning the week of June 16 water main installation will begin in the area near Goose Lane and continue west to the Tolland Town Green. The project is expected to be completed in October. The water main installation is part of an agreement between Connecticut Water and the Town to provide a back-up water supply to Tolland’s water system. This back-up supply will help to maintain reliable water service to customers of Tolland’s Main Water System with an uninterrupted flow of water to fire hydrants for public fire protection in the event that system’s sources, storage or water mains are out of service.

Customers of Connecticut Water will see a 4% drop in their water bills beginning today. The 4% decrease in water bills applies to residential, municipal, business and industrial customers of the Company. A typical Connecticut Water residential customer that uses the average of 15,000 gallons of water per quarter will see a reduction of $5.97 per quarter in their water bill compared to their previous bill for the same water usage. Overall, customers will save $12.4 million in water charges over the next 2 years.

Connecticut Water Company is pleased to announce that it has presented a check in the amount of $25,000 to the Killingworth Land Conservation Trust (KLCT) to help fund the purchase of 52 acres of land off Roast Meat Hill Road.
