Even when portraying the hustle and bustle of people celebrating, I find Miguel‘s illustrations silent and relaxing. Out of three strokes only, he is able to create an atmosphere that reveals complex, spontaneous and full of emotions.

You may already know whet ‘light painting’ is. It basically consists of a picture taken in dark spaces which captures the light by a moving lighted point, and draws a trail, like this picture that I took a while ago.

Many videos have been made by using this technique, frame by frame, such as this one, for instance. The fact that it is a freehand painting makes a rougher animation, though.

But in the video clip Silhouettes, by Floating Points, they have created a machine, some kind of 3D plotter, that leaves its light trail and is controlled by computer. Since it is a digital tool, one can see some pixelated areas.

A fresh start in autumb reading this book is one of the best treats for your mind. Its author is Heidi Neilson. It reminded me of the ingenious sea-book by Maxime Gambus:

Rather than a watch, this is an enygmatic screen. Ferrolic is a design by Zelf Koelman.

This is a lovely lovely shelf by Lyon Béton, a specialist in concrete furniture. You can find a big version of the shelf and a small one.

Just take a look at this helluva gift from Manuela, our modo waitress. Justa a plastic bottle, hot water and some squeezing suffice…

Nosing around the Sculpture by the Sea website, I stumbled upon Jakub Geltner’s work. This artist turns surveillance cameras into ugly, disgusting birds. It made me think of Rune Guneriussen‘s wild lamps.
